DARCY

“OK. Big night. Remember. You’re cool. You’re smooth. You’re the Master of Wooing…” I stand and scrunch my face. I stare at my reflection. “Wooing?” I twist my lips and think.

I wave it off and straighten my bow tie. “Whatever the word is for catching the girl, you’re the master of it.” I smile at myself.

“Darcy! Anytime princess!” Marcus yells from downstairs.

I scowl. I run my hands through hair one last time and take a huge breath. “This is it. Goodbye single life, hello destiny.”

I point to my reflection and walk out of my room.

I walk downstairs and Marcus is in his tux at the bottom of the stairs. “About time. Sam was ready before you were.”

I shove him and walk passed him.

Sam was in the common room. She spun around.

She’s wearing an aquamarine long silky dress with an open back and formed neck line that shows that yummy cleavage of hers.

I stood and slammed my hand to heart. “Hot damn, you hurt me!” I lean forward and pretend to have a heart attack.

She laughs. “You like it?” She spins. Her curled hair twirling out.

I give a hungry smile. “Kitten, you’re so hot, I don’t know if I want you going.” I stride up to her and grab the nape of her neck. I kiss her hard.

She pushes me back. “Look at you. I’m sure I’m not going to like all the attention you’ll get.” She grins.

I stand back and hold my jacket open. “All you have to know is all this sexiness is all yours, baby.” I do a suave spin around with a charming smile.

She giggles. “Get in the car, Casanova.”

I laugh and hold out my arm. Sam takes it and I walk her to my Maserati. Marcus left in his truck.

This year is supposed to be huge.

They moved the ball to a small palace Zander built down by the dome. Holds at least 8,000 people. Of course the whole area around the dome is also closed off for more events and dancing outside.

From what I hear, the invitation acceptance list is huge.

We get to the front doors. I get out and the valet lets Sam out. I meet her on the other side and give the valet the keys.

The music is blasting already and we’re still a couple of hours away from the moon.

I stop and look up.

It’s so blue this year. Spreading its deep color over everything.

“That’s it, Sam, our future.” I look at her and cup her cheek. I kiss her softly. “I can’t wait.” I mumble on her lips.

“I can’t wait either." She kisses me back.

I turn to walk us in.

“I wonder what it’ll feel like?” She asks.

I shrug. “I don’t know. I guess we’ll replace out.”

We walk through the open doors and it’s unbelievable.

Huge vaulted ceiling with a huge glass dome. You can see the moon clearly.

Moon, stars and wolves decorate the walls. White lights flash and flicker everywhere.

The place is packed.

People are dancing everywhere. I’m dancing too as we walk in, waving to people I know.

A bunch of trainers yell my name.

I grin and step aside from Sam. I lift her arm and run my other hand up and down her while I nod to them, showing her off.

I twirl her around as she glows bright pink in her cheeks.

The guys cat call and whistle.

I twirl her into me and give her another kiss.

“Darcy! Sam!”

We look and Zane is waving.

We push through the crowd and take a seat at the table they were at.

“This is amazing!” Saysha swoons.

“I know. Phoenix went all out!” Sam yells back over the music.

I got us drinks and we talked and danced for awhile.

Sounds of fireworks filled the room.

We look up and holographic fireworks were exploding across the sky in the skylight.

“Oh my God!” Sam laughs.

“Pretty cool, huh?” I say to her as the fireworks make a blue moon, a red heart and spell the words Good luck across the deep blue sky.

“I have to freshen up." Sam says to me.

“Hurry, it’s almost time.” I warn her.

“I will.” She disappears into the crowd.

“So, you feeling it?” Peter asks.

“Nothing yet, but the moons not high.” I say as I drink my whiskey.

“I’m sure it’ll be soon.” Brody says.

We stood talking when I heard my name.

“Darcy Bourne!”

I turn and out of the crowd came a sexy brunette and stunning blonde. They both looked pissed.

I’ve seen the faces before. I definitely remember the chest and those legs.

I place my drink glass on my forehead. “Uh…Layla!” I point to the blonde.

“Kyla.” She corrects.

“Right.” I chuckle. “and Amy.” I grin.

“Marie!” She scowls.

“Wow. I was way off.” My brow goes up.

“How are you?” I smile.

Kyla walks over and slaps me right across the face. My head swings to the side from the force.

Brody and Peter cringe the moment the slap was felt.

“That’s for ditching me.” She growls, pointing in my face.

Pain resonates across my face. I have to blink my eyes a few times.

I look and the guys are snickering.

“Ok. I deserved that.” I rub my cheek.

I turn my head back to the girls and Marie hits my other cheek. Again my head was forced to the side. “That’s for giving me a fake number!”

Brody’s hanging off Peter, laughing into his shoulder, barely breathing. Peters lips are pressed together and his face is red.

My face is full of shock and I cringe at the pain.

People around us are staring.

“Yep, deserved that too. Damn.” I groan and rub my other cheek.

I turn back to them. “Ladies, I’m sorry!” I hold out my arms.

The both give me extremely dirty looks and turn into the crowd.

I rub my jaw as I turn back to the guys.

“Dude, you have to admit. That was classic.” Brody says, wiping his eye and catching his breath.

“Yeah. It was bound to happen sooner or later.” I stretch my jaw muscles to elevate the sting.

I look at the moon it’s almost peaked. “Where’s Sam?”

I scan the crowd.

I got heated up when I got slapped, but I thought it would go down. It wasn’t. It was growing. I had to remove my tie.

I walk toward the bathrooms. Trinity came out.

I stop her. “Hey, is Sam in there?”

“Nope. She left a few minutes ago.” She supplies.

I bite my cheek and look around again. She couldn’t have gone far.

I undo my two top buttons because I can’t breathe in the stuffiness of the place.

I feel my cheeks flush and my wolf go nuts because we can’t replace Sam.

I’m just wandering around at this point. I’m walking aimlessly around people, but I feel like I’m being led somewhere.

I pass a group dancing and I smell it.

Raspberries.

It’s so strong, it makes all other smells disappear.

It invades all my senses. My wolf is going crazy. I spin in a circle trying to hone in on it.

Finally, I replace a trail and follow. My libido is practically feral. I’ve begun my hunt.

I push passed the bar and catch an aquamarine dress.

There you are. I growl in my chest.

I keep my eye on her. She must be looking for me too.

In the middle of the dance floor I feel it.

Like a rubber band, a bond snaps. She stops and turns.

I stand staring into her eyes. The bond snapping over and over.

I tilt my head. “Mate.” I grin. Images of everything I want to do her flood my brain. The pull to bond is fucking powerful.

She stares for a moment longer then grabs her dress with one hand and runs to me.

She leaps into my arms and slams her lips on mine. Making me make an “umph” sound and almost lose my balance. She’s got her arms around my neck and I’ve wrapped mine around her waist.

I spin her around as we share a deep, hungry kiss.

The bond snapping like crazy.

We come up for air and she’s sucking on my lip. “Mate.” She purrs with my lip in her teeth.

I smile and laugh!

“YES!! OH MY GOD, SAMANTHA!” I yell as I spin her around more.

I put her on her feet and grab her head. “I love you!! I love you so much!” I kiss her excitedly.

“I love you too!” She holds my cheeks. “You’re mine! All mine!” She laughs.

“I’m yours, baby and you’re my kitten forever.” I swoon on her lips. “My mark is going to look so good on you.” I purr.

We walk through the crowd to the table.

“Well?” Peter asks popping a pretzel on his mouth.

“Fate has come through. Alpha Bourne has found his Luna.” I grab Sam from behind and kiss her neck.

The girls all stand and scream. They run around and crowd Sam with congratulations. I had to back out before I got caught in the mauling.

Jake slaps his hand on my shoulder. “Since it worked out, you ready?”

“Oh yeah.” I grin.

I take off my jacket and untuck my shirt.

I grab Sam’s arm. “Come with me.”

“Where are we…” She says.

I pull her onto the dancefloor.

“I know you don’t like surprises, but I can’t resist doing something I should have done at my birthday party with you.” I say as I stop her and position her. “Stand here…and don’t hit me.” I hold a finger up.

Jake and Len run to me as the Dj starts ‘Safe And Sound' by Capital Cities.

Sam smiles as we stand together with me in the middle.

When the song starts we all start a swing dance that Jake had been teaching me over the last few weeks.

I watch Sam laugh as my legs kick back and front. We all spin around at an angle and jump into the air.

My feet are criss crossing back and forth as my arms swing out.

I shuffle my feet and Len and Jake do no hand cartwheels flips

Me and Jake dance from side to side and he goes into a hand stand with his legs spread and I jump over him, landing in front of Sam with my arms out looking cool.

The crowd bursts into cheers as they dance from the sides of our little circle

She burst into laughter.

I dance backwards and join the guys.

They cross in front of me doing flips. And stand together doing some hip hop.

They split and do on the spot back flips over and over.

They part as I walk between them with my hands out. I have a big grin and I sing as I walk with a bounce in my step up to Sam.

“I can show you love.

In a tidal wave of mystery

You’ll still be standing next to me.

You could be my luck.

Even if we’re six feet underground

I know that we’ll be safe and sound.”

I dance around her as she laughs. I shimmy my but against her in a circle.

I grab her hand and spin her around.

I pull her into me and dance around.

I lift my hand with hers and spin her. Her dress twirling outwards.

I pull her back into me and pick her up by her waist. I make my arms almost straight and hold her up over me. “I know that we’ll be safe and sound.”

She grabs my cheeks and kisses me.

I drop her down and dance with her again.

She smiles. She runs to Jake and Len and stands between them they start to swing dance and she tries to follow their moves. I laugh as I watch her trying.

I dance in front her and she steps beside me. Following my feet.

The rest of the party fills our gap, dancing to the song.

I stop and place my hand into her hair. “I love you, Samantha Donald. No matter what happens, I’ll never stop loving you.”

I pull her into me and kiss her within an inch of her life.
