Chapter 1648: The Beginning Of A New Prelude
Chapter 1648: The Beginning of a New PreludeKhebury, DeNox.
The exclusive suite on the top floor.
The bedsheets were wrinkled, the room was in disarray, and even theair was filled with a special ambiguous atmosphere.
It was already bright outside, but the curtains remained tightly closed. Adim night light illuminated the room, casting a faint halo.
The sound of rushing water continued to echo from the bathroom.
A misty haze filled the room.
Vicki stood under the showerhead, her tall figure being washed by thehot water, her wheat-colored skin glistening.
After showering, she dried her hair and walked out of the bathroom in abathrobe.
The man on the bed was still asleep.
She opened the curtains slightly, opened the door, and walked out ontothe balcony, going all the way to the railing.
Leaning against the railing, she casually picked up the lighter on therattan coffee table next to her and lit a slender menthol cigarette, takinga few puffs.
White smoke rose between her fingers, lingering.
Gradually, she felt as if she was immersed in the mist. With her back tothe room, she looked at the view beyond the railing-the internal gardenof DeNox, designed in a Japanese style, exquisite and full of Zen.
Her hand rested on the railing, holding the cigarette between herfingers.
Suddenly, a man came up behind her, furrowing his brow, and took thecigarette from her hand.
"I thought you quit? Why are you smoking again?" he asked.
Vicki felt a little annoyed as she glanced back at the man.
"Awake? You should go home now."
Felix's face instantly darkened. What did this woman think she wasdoing after spending the night together? She wanted him to leave assoon as he woke up? This was his territory.
Suppressing his anger, he embraced her from behind.
He asked, "When are we getting married? How long do you want me towait?"
Luther and Joyce had already returned to Khebury with their children.Joyce was pregnant with twins. Felix envied them.
Vicki turned her head, her expression unchanged, and asked calmly,"When did I make you wait? I never said I wanted to get married.”Felix's expression grew even darker.
He wanted to tear open her heart and see what it was made of. Was itmade of stone? How could she be so heartless!
Four years ago.
A top-notch headhunting company introduced a legendary figure tomanage DeNox, and that person was Vicki.
He still remembered the first time he saw her, she had stunned him. Hehad never seen a woman like her before.
She was tall, not much shorter than him.
Her appearance was striking, with narrow and captivating eyes thatseemed to mesmerize people. High and straight nose, plump lips, healthy wheat-colored skin-her unique beauty was unforgettable.
Their first conversation, he would never forget.
"You're the new director of DeNox?"
“That's right. Who are you?" She raised her long gaze and glanced athim.
Her aura was so strong that he was instantly speechless.
“I, I am the boss of DeNox," he awkwardly replied, feeling a bitdiminished in her presence.
"Oh, so you're the legendary playboy from the Saunders family.”
He would never forget her disdainful smile.
So, he made up his mind to make her his. It wasn't difficult at all.
Soon, he succeeded. When he made ambiguous advances towardsher, she didn't even object. She agreed without any reservation.
He thought she was so bold and experienced, but he didn't expect herto be a virgin.
Afterwards, he made it clear that he wouldn't take responsibility, andthey were just playing around.
But she was even more carefree, saying that she was a normal personwith needs. They each took what they needed, and he didn't need anyburdens. If he had a formal girlfriend or a potential wife, he just neededto inform her. She would immediately end their relationship.
She didn't even stay the night, she would leave directly after theirencounters.
And so, they maintained their “friends with benefits" relationship. Fouryears flew by.
He thought he had succeeded, that he had conquered her.
But gradually, he realized he was wrong.
It wasn't him playing with her, but her playing with him.
He had already fallen deeply in love with her, thinking about her dayand night. He no longer frequented nightclubs, feeling disgusted evenby accidental touches from other girls.
In the second year together, he proposed to her. Since he realized histrue feelings, he didn't hold back.
He wanted to marry her and make her completely his.
But this heartless woman took his words as a joke, as if she didn't careat all.
Every time they were intimate, she never stayed the night.
Sometimes hefelt that she was cruel, as if everything that hadhappened between them had never occurred, as if no moment lingered, she would simply get dressed and leave. Four years had passed, heasked her to stay, but she would resolutely leave every time.
Last night was the first time she stayed, sleeping by his side.
That night, he slept particularly soundly.
He sensed that something was bothering her, even absentminded, buthe didn't ask her what had happened exactly.
Although their bodies had been intertwined for four years, he had neverentered her inner world. He didn't know what she was thinking, and hecouldn't even see what she wanted to do next.
In these four years, she truly treated him as nothing more than a "friendwith benefits.”
He had asked before, if he had hurt her with his initial nonchalantattitude, if that was the reason she had never accepted him all theseyears. If that was the case, he sincerely apologized.
Back then, he was carefree, but he had dedicated himself for fouryears. How could she not see that?
However, she just smiled and said that she had never minded becauseshe had never thought of being with him.
He was infuriated and ignored her for half a month in protest.
But this heartless woman didn't give him a call or send a messageduring that time, as if she didn't care. He even feared that if hecontinued ignoring her, the result would be an unspoken end to theirrelationship.
So, he gave in and occupied her person since he couldn't obtain herheart.
Only during their intimate moments could he feel that she brieflybelonged to him.
Just like last night.
Felix took a deep breath. "Vicki, I want to get married!"
He forcefully turned her around, forcing her to look at him.
“I want you to have my children!"
Seeing her cold expression, he closed his eyes and tried to calm down.“You have a good relationship with Joyce. She's back now, and youshould know. The children are almost four years old, and she'spregnant with twins. Vicki, I'm almost thirty-two years old now. I want tomarry you."
As he spoke, his anger became harder to suppress.
Vicki's narrow eyes lifted. "I've said that you can marry someone else. Ican step aside at any time. If you want me to leave DeNox today, I canpack my things right now."
Felix felt himself getting close to being driven mad by her.
“I don't want anyone else. I want you to have my child. I want you togive birth to my child. I'm already thirty-two, and I want to be a father!"His chest heaved up and down, his handsome face turned purple withanger, and the veins on his neck bulged.
He tightly gripped her shoulders, his fingers trembling.
Today, he had to make things clear.
After four years.
Shouldn't she give him an answer?
