Chapter 1714: Turn the Tables

Joyce calmly folded the letter. "Mr. Arnold, please organize the itemsaccording to the list."

Mr. Arnold looked hesitant and reluctant. "Mrs. Warner, do we reallyhave to send these things over? Shouldn't you call Mr. Warner toconfirm?"

Joyce shook her head. "It's fine. Let him take them. The cufflinks andwatch are mine. I'll go and get them."

"Alright," Mr. Arnold sighed and walked upstairs. He had no idea whatwas happening or what the rumors were about. The Warner family hadfinally found some peace, but now it was being disrupted again.

Joyce signaled to Darrin with her eyes, indicating for him to keep aneye on the driver.

She herself went into the walk-in closet and took out the items thatLuther had requested. Among them was a watch, and she intentionallytook the wrong one, not following the list. Instead, she took out a limitededition tourbillon gold watch with a special symbolic meaning. Shebelieved that if Luther paid attention, he would understand hermessage.

After gathering the items, she placed them in a mahogany box andwent to the living room to hand them to the new driver.

Mr. Arnold also prepared the items and handed them to the driverbefore he drove away.

Mr. Arnold couldn't help but speak up. "Mrs. Warner, since Mr. Warneris not at home, you naturally have the final say here. If there's anythingyou need me to do, just let me know. Please don't leave, you must stayin Khebury. And the young master, it's clear that he really likes it here.”Mr. Arnold was a bit anxious. The Warner residence had been emptyfor too long. Since Stephanie's sudden passing, there had been no lifehere until Mr. Warner returned with Mrs. Warner and the children. Theplace had regained its former liveliness. He didn't want it to becomeempty again. He was most worried that Joyce would take the childrenand return to the Capital in a fit of anger.

After all, Joyce was now a high-ranking official with status. Why shouldshe stay here and endure the mistreatment?

Joyce understood Mr. Arnold's concerns and comforted him gently,"Don't worry, I will take care of this home. I won't leave. I'm a bit hungry,so prepare some food. Darrin hasn't eaten either.”

Mr. Arnold quickly agreed, "Alright, I'll do that now."

Once Mr. Arnold left, Darrin pulled Joyce to the window. "General, whatdo you think? The driver who just came seems very strange. Hisdemeanor doesn't resemble that of a bodyguard. There's a strong auraof danger around him. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say he's anassassin."

"OGW," Joyce said.

"What?" Darrin thought he had misheard.

“The driver who just came had a tattoo on his wrist. It's the uniquesymbol of OGW," Joyce explained.

"How did you know? How did you figure it out?" Darrin was surprised.“To be honest, I didn't know either. When you went to drop offAnderson, I received a call from Karl. Look at this photo, zoom in onthis detail,” she enlarged the photo on her phone for Darrin to see, "Karltold me that this is the unique symbol of OGW."

Darrin's expression changed. "General, OGW is an internationalterrorist organization. This is a serious matter. Shouldn't we requestsupport from the military warlords?"

Joyce patted Darrin's shoulder gently. “No need, someone has alreadythought of that. My mother called me just now. In a few days, Mr.Dewey will bring some things, and I believe there will be equipment thatwe need.”

Darrin scratched his head. "As expected, Lady Commander thinks ofeverything."

"Alright, let's continue with what we were doing. Everything stays thesame, and we'll wait for them to reveal themselves," Joyce's tonebecame much lighter. She looked out the window, where the springsunlight was perfect, casting a golden hue over everything. The grasswas lush green, adorned with blooming flowers of various colors, gentlyswaying in the breeze. The beautiful scenery brought a sense oftranquility and joy.

On the other side.

The Ballard Group seaside villa.

The same beautiful spring sunlight shone through the large glasswindows into the spacious living room.

Luther sat on the sofa near the French windows, holding Alisha in hisarms. Alisha had fallen asleep again. After several days of battling highfevers from pneumonia, her once chubby face had become a bitthinner.

Her face was still a bit pale, but her breathing was steady. She nolonger had the shortness of breath and fever that had plagued her inthe past, reaching temperatures as high as40 degrees Celsius.

As of yesterday, her fever had finally subsided completely.

Jamie had been staying at the villa these past few days, puttingeverything else aside and focusing on treating Alisha. Her condition hadturned out to be more severe than he had imagined.

At this moment, he walked over to Luther's side. "Mr. Warner, thepneumonia should be under control now and shouldn't recur. Alisha'sconstitution is weak, and this was a close call. We don't have majorequipment here, so if we need to do lung lavage or put her on aventilator, I'm at a loss.”

Luther squinted his eyes. These past few days, he had been tirelesslytaking care of Alisha. To prevent her from experiencing seizures fromhigh fever, he dared not close his eyes. He could only rest briefly whenher fever subsided and she was in a peaceful sleep.

During the most critical days, she had been going back and forthbetween high temperatures and shortness of breath, and the commonlyused antibiotics had little effect.

He had no choice but to go out with Athena and personally obtain anew type of antibiotic, asthma inhalers, and albumin. The deliverylocation was a high-end hotel in the suburbs, as specified by the otherparty.

A photo of him and Athena together had been taken and exposed.Today, the news was full of it, and he naturally saw it.

Hehe, some people couldn't wait.

Seeing that there was no one around, Jamie asked in a low voice, "Mr.Warner, the news about you has already exploded today. What are yourplans?"

Luther glanced at Jamie and said, "Since it has come to this point, let'sturn the tables.”

Jamie furrowed his brows slightly. He didn't understand what Luthermeant by turning the tables, but he believed that Luther would handle itwell.

"Alisha’s condition is stable. You've worked hard these past few days.Since she doesn't need intravenous fluids anymore and only needsmedication, I'll have someone take you back. You've been out for toolong," Luther said to Jamie.

"Alright," Jamie didn't refuse. "I'll write down in detail how to take themedication each day, and Mr. Warner must make sure to give it toAlisha on time. Pneumonia can easily recur, even without anysymptoms, so we can't take it lightly. It takes at least a month to fullyrecover, and careful nurturing is needed for three months. Remember,no more exposure to cold or falling into water."
