Chapter 1727: Did You Think I Had No Ace upMy Sleeve?

"Miss Ballard, your shoulder seems to be seriously injured. Would youlike me to take a look?" Joyce paid no attention to Athena's next move.Athena immediately became alert and rejected, "Get lost, I don't needyou to look."

Joyce pretended to sigh, "What a pity. I actually know some methodsfor treating injuries. Since Miss Ballard doesn't need it, forget about it.""Oh, by the way!" Joyce pretended to glance to the side, "What wereyou planning to do just now? Call for reinforcements? Howunfortunate.”

Athena narrowed her eyes, unsure of what Joyce was up to.

“It's a shame. I also called a lot of people today. Including major mediaoutlets. They're very interested in our gossip. Last time, they onlycaptured your back, and everyone felt it was a pity. Today, how aboutrevealing your true face in front of everyone?" Joyce smiled. She waswell-prepared for today's banquet.

"What?!" Athena couldn't believe it. "You actually called the reporters?Aren't you afraid of being humiliated after being abandoned by yourhusband? How dare you openly call the reporters!"

Joyce shrugged, "My skin is thicker than a city wall, as you've alreadyexperienced. I don't mind at all. I am the victim, and the public will onlysympathize with me. It's you, as the mistress, who should face publiccriticism. If you're not afraid, why should I be?"

Athena gritted her teeth, wishing she could pull Joyce's hair out by theroots, leaving her completely bald to relieve her anger.

But for now, she didn't want to expose her true identity and appearancein front of the media. She had other matters to attend to.

"Hehe, let's settle things before the reporters arrive," Athena snappedher fingers. She had arranged an ambush in the cafe, and a group ofblack-clad individuals were waiting for her signal to rush out andsubdue Joyce.

Joyce crossed her arms, calmly waiting for Athena's response, unruffled.

Athena snapped her fingers, waited a few seconds, but there was nomovement. She frowned, unsure if her finger snap was too soft.

She snapped her fingers again.

But once again, no one rushed out.

Athena looked back in surprise at the empty cafe, not a soul in sight."Oh well," Joyce's voice carried a tone of regret, "It seems like yourpeople aren't very capable. They've been waiting here for so long, maybe they're too tired, so my people took them for afternoon tea torest. I hope you don't mind. After all, we're all human beings. Whenthey work for money, it's only fair to occasionally give them bettertreatment.”

Athena's face immediately fell. She clenched her fist, then released it,clenched it again, and finally relaxed it completely.

She took a deep breath and revealed a sinister smile.

"Joyce, you're cunning. This ends here today. I will never give up!"Athena turned around, intending to leave. However, she hadunderestimated Joyce. Seeing Joyce's confident expression, Athenarealized that besides the reporters, Joyce must have also broughtarmed personnel from the warlord's side and successfully eliminatedthe people she had brought.

What a bunch of useless people, discovered by Joyce's people!

She had been too careless.

Her plan had failed today. She hadn't gained the slightest advantageover Joyce, nor had she made Joyce embarrass herself.

Although she was unwilling, she had no choice.

Just as Athena turned around, Joyce seized the opportunity andforcefully pulled, causing Athena's dress to slip off her shoulder. Alarge, gaping wound resembling a black hole was exposed on her paleskin.

Joyce's pupils contracted rapidly. It was a gunshot wound! Caused by aMagnum Bullet, she could tell.

Athena was indeed the wicked woman! The one who kidnappedAnderson and conspired with Otis! She repeatedly appeared inPascaylia, her identity and whereabouts shrouded in mystery, and shehad a deep connection with Rohomes.

Thinking about it, many of the Rohomes people recently seen inKhebury were undoubtedly connected to Athena.

With the gunshot wound exposed, a trace of panic flashed in Athena'seyes. She quickly adjusted her clothes and glared fiercely at Joyce. Inher heart, she wondered if Joyce had discovered something.

Even if Joyce had discovered her identity, she wasn't afraid. After all,she held the trump card.

Raising her proud chin, Athena smiled mysteriously at Joyce. "Joyce, did you really think I have no ace up my sleeve?"

She suddenly raised her hand, and her long, sharp nails swiftly swipedpast Joyce's face.

"The person you care about isn't just Luther, right? You still havesomeone else you worry about. Remember, theperson you care aboutmost is in my hands."

Despite Joyce's excellent reflexes, she was still scratched by Athena, leaving a shallow cut.

Joyce took a step back, warily looking at Athena.

"What do you mean?"

Athena sneered, "Just what I said. Go back and think about it carefully.Think about what you've lost and what you care about the most."Athena caught a glimpse of a group of reporters rushing towards thecafe. They were approaching the door and about to burst in.

"Damn it."

Athena cursed under her breath. Joyce had actually called thereporters.

She quickly turned around and swiftly moved behind the screen, leaving through the back door.

Once again, the reporters captured Athena's departing figure, but thistime, it was a hurried departure.

Joyce stood in place, her expression solemn. She couldn't figure outwhat Athena meant. What did Athena care about the most? What acedid Athena have up her sleeve? Why was Luther, despite knowingAthena's identity, wary of her?

Her thoughts were in disarray, and she couldn't replace a clue.

In front of her, the reporters had already swarmed in, and she had todeal with them first.

"Mrs. Warner, was the person who just left Mr. Warner's first love?""How do you respond to the current situation, Mrs. Warner? Will youcompromise with the mistress?"

"Mrs. Warner, besides your identity as Mrs. Warner, you are also ayoung marshal of a warlord. Will you voluntarily end this marriage andreturn to the Capital to assume your rightful military position?"

"Mrs. Warner, did Mr. Warner's first love come here to provoke you?How did you respond?"
