You Hit My Heart -
Chapter 1738: I Don'T Want It Unconditionally
Chapter 1738: I Don't Want It UnconditionallyAthena was pushed to a desperate situation. No matter what, shecouldn't let Luther die. Otherwise, what was the point of everything shehad done?
“Based on the timing, you should need to take two antidotes. You can'tdelay it any longer," she softened her tone and advised, "I don't ask foranything in return, just take them without worry.”
Calculating in her mind, even if she gave Luther two antidotes, she stillhad three left. With this matter, she could still control him. For now, shewould ease up and not confront him. If the toxin spread and becameirreversible, it would be disastrous.
Luther paused his work and glanced at the antidotes placed next to thecomputer.
Athena continued to persuade, "Brother Luther, take the antidotesquickly. If the poisoning worsens, you'll be in grave danger. I just wantto be with you forever. I won't harm you.” She even brought a glass ofwater and handed it to him herself.
Luther suddenly stood up, raised his hand, and knocked over the glassof water that Athena had brought.
The clean floor was instantly splashed with water stains.
Then, Luther, in front of Athena, crushed the two antidotes in his hand."No!" Athena exclaimed in disbelief. "Don't destroy the antidotes!"
She was genuinely panicked. She hadn't expected Luther to crush theantidotes. She had put so much effort into obtaining them. He haddestroyed them so easily?
Luther looked at her coldly, his smile deep.
He slowly opened his hand, and the crushed powder slipped throughhis fingertips, gradually dissipating into the air. The nearly white powdercouldn't be seen clearly, blending into the surroundings.
“I don't want them unconditionally.”
He dropped those words and immediately put away his computer. Heturned around and headed to the room where Alisha was.
Athena stared at Luther's retreating figure incredulously. She wasshocked, angry, and her lips trembled with frustration. He haddestroyed the two antidotes-life-saving antidotes. How much effort hadshe put in to obtain them? And he casually destroyed them?
“Luther, are you seeking death? Do you love Joyce that much? Yourefuse to be with me?" Athena shouted after Luther's departing figure. She quickly crouched down, trying to pick up the powder from theground, but it was useless. The powder had the same color as the floor, and she couldn't see it clearly. Some of the powder had dissolved in thewater stains she had spilled on the floor earlier. It was ruined, completely ruined!
Luther suddenly turned around, his voice devoid of warmth. "Even if Idie, I won't let you control me. Put away your delusions. If you're willingto remove the detonator from Alisha’s body, I might spare your life. Butif you insist on harming the child, I'll make sure you have no restingplace in death!"
Athena's porcelain-like face instantly turned pale.
At this critical moment, he refused to back down. He even madethreats. She couldn't help but doubt whether she could outlast him. Shehad thought that as long as she kept him by her side, he wouldeventually realize her worth, accept her, and never leave her. After all,she was the lover that all men dreamed of.
His resistance to her charms shocked her. In these days, no matterwhat she did, even wearing the most sexy and alluring clothes, hedidn't spare her a glance.
Luther entered Alisha's room, closed the door behind him, and shutAthena out.
Alisha was sitting on the carpet, unpacking her new toys. Among themwas a set of educational toys, and she was currently studying themysteries inside.
Luther walked over, lifted Alisha from the ground, and carried her to thesofa.
"Be a good girl, the floor is cold, and you've just recovered frompneumonia. Be careful,” he said.
Alisha obediently nodded, "Okay, I know, Daddy."
Luther accompanied Alisha for a while. "It's time for you to sleep. It'sgetting late."
Alisha nodded, "Okay. I've also opened this toy. It's quite simple.Daddy, can you buy me more challenging puzzle toys?"
Luther ruffled her hair, "Of course. I'll buy you the most advancedcomputer with many puzzle games, including your favorite ring puzzles, riddles, and number games."
Alisha nodded eagerly, "Yes, yes, yes! I want it!"
She showed a face full of excitement, and her sparkling eyes were filledwith anticipation.
Luther watched Alisha with satisfaction. Although Alisha had been in acoma and had only awakened less than a year ago, she was rapidlyabsorbing information fromthe outside world at an explosive pace. Herintelligence was remarkable, and her ability to learn was fast. She wastruly a remarkable child, the child of him and Joyce. They were bothexceptional individuals.
He carried Alisha and went to brush her teeth and get her ready forbed.
Then he lifted Alisha onto the bed, turned off the main light, leaving onlya small night light.
The dim yellow light flickered in the room, creating a cozy atmosphere. As the environment darkened, Alisha grew drowsy, yawning and feelingher eyelids becoming heavy.
"Sleep now, I'll be here with you," Luther said, checking Alisha'swounds. Thanks to the timely treatment and accurate use ofmedication, the whip marks would not cause significant harm to Alisha. Before falling asleep, Alisha suddenly asked Luther, "Daddy, did youand Mommy have a fight?"
Luther was taken aback.
Alisha continued, “I heard a little bit of your argument in the room. DidMommy break everything because of me?"
Luther shook his head, "We didn't fight. We were discussing something.Daddy's voice was a bit loud and disturbed you. I'm sorry about that. And breaking things had nothing to do with you. Mommy was upsetbecause of other people. Alisha, you're still young, and there are manythings you don't understand. But you can trust Daddy. When you growup a little more, Daddy will explain everything to you clearly. Yourcurrent task is to focus on getting better and staying healthy so thatDaddy can take you out to play, okay?"
Alisha's eyes shimmered with bright light. “I want to go out and play. Iwant to see the sea. They say it's beautiful.”
Luther was once again astonished.
Alisha had never seen the sea? Had Athena kept her confined all thistime? This unforgivable woman, living by the seaside but never takingAlisha to the coast, even for the most basic experience.
He felt extreme heartache and caressed Alisha's head.
Children are the purest and kindest. Give them a mouthful of rice, andthey'll treat you like their own family.
No, he must take Alisha away as soon as possible. He couldn't let herstay with Athena any longer.
"Sleep tight, Alisha, be a good girl."
Luther gently caressed Alisha's tender cheek.
As Alisha grew drowsy, her eyelids gradually drooped. Feeling at ease, she quickly fell into a deep sleep.
Luther waited until Alisha was sound asleep before leaving the roomand heading outside.
“It's late. Where are you going?" Athena heard Luther's movements andstood up to stop him.
"Do you still need to ask when you have in-car surveillance? There's noneed for unnecessary questions,” Luther replied without looking back.No one dared to stop him.
