Chapter 1790: Never Let Go Again

Shortly after, Luther stood up and returned to Alisha's hospital room. Hecouldn't let go of his weak daughter. He stayed in Alisha's room towatch over her.

Darrin stood guard outside Anderson's room.

Anderson was the first to regain consciousness, around three in themorning. He woke up from the coma caused by the explosion. His headfelt heavy and he struggled to sit up. The lights in the room werealready turned off, with only the emergency night light illuminating thespace.

He looked around, realizing that he was in a hospital. So, he wassaved?

His last memory was stuck at the third explosion that Cloud triggered inthe bathroom. The safe room had withstood the power of theexplosions in the previous two attempts, but by the third one, even hewasn't confident. Deep cracks had formed around the door frame. Ifthere was another explosion, it wouldn't have held up.

To avoid getting injured, he followed the emergency rescue knowledgehe had learned and lay in the bathtub, covering himself with all the bathtowels and robes he could replace, protecting his head securely.

Even so, with a loud boom, the tremendous blast shockwave dazedhim, causing him to lose consciousness.

Now, he was in the hospital. He had been saved. But who had savedhim?

Anderson made an effort to sit up, wanting to reach for the call buttonon the bedside.

At that moment, Darrin heard the movement from outside and rushedin. He was overjoyed to see Anderson awake. "Anderson, you'reawake. That's great!"

He approached Anderson, embracing him tightly. Darrin patted andrubbed Anderson all over, checking his forehead. "Anderson, do yourecognize me? Are you injured in the head? Did your memory getaffected?"

Then he gently touched Anderson's small face, confirming that all ofthis was real.

Anderson rolled his eyes, speechless. "Uncle Darrin, I think there'ssomething wrong with your brain."

Darrin finally let go of his worries upon hearing that.

Thank goodness, Anderson was perfectly fine.

Darrin held Anderson's arm. "I was so worried. It's all my fault for notleaving enough people to guard the Warner family."

"What about my little sister? Is she rescued?" Anderson was mostconcerned about that. "And where's Dad? Is he okay? I miss him somuch.”

Luther woke up from a light sleep, hearing the commotion from theneighboring room. He quickly got up and rushed to the door. When hepushed open the door to the adjacent room, he heard Anderson'sconcerns.

He looked at Anderson in excitement, his thin lips trembling.

Anderson saw Luther and shouted with excitement, "Dad, Dad, you'refinally back!"

Darrin quickly got up and stepped aside.

Anderson stretched out his little arms.

Luther hurriedly approached, embracing Anderson as a whole, as if hewanted to merge him into his own flesh and blood. He hadn't seenAnderson for so long, and when he saw him again, Anderson wasalready unconscious and in danger. His heart had been hanging, unable to replace peace.

He missed his son so much and said excitedly, "Anderson, as long asyou're okay. You're all okay, and that's wonderful.”

"Dad, you're suffocating me," Anderson complained lightly. He waspractically being smothered.

Luther quickly released his grip. "Oh, sorry, I held you too tightly."Anderson confirmed again, "Dad, what about my little sister? Was sherescued successfully?"

Luther cradled Anderson's face in his hands. "Yes, she's in the roomnext door. She's asleep. Anderson, I'm sorry. Tonight, we were sofocused on your sister that we overlooked you, almost putting you indanger. You must have been scared.”

Anderson nodded, not denying his fear. He had indeed been scared."Dad, I tried my best not to fall into the hands of the bad guys. I didn'twant to burden you. Did I do well?" Anderson asked. “I didn't do well, did 1? If you hadn't arrived in time, I would have been taken away."Luther gently touched Anderson's forehead. "You did it, and you did itwell. You're the best in the world." He didn't mention that Anderson hadbeen captured by Cloud and that Vicki had exchanged herself to saveAnderson.

"That's good," Anderson smiled happily.

Looking around, he asked, "Where's Mommy? Why didn't I seeMommy? Is she too tired? Oh, right, it's late at night. Mommy must besleeping.”

Luther paused, unsure of how to explain. Joyce had been stabbed byAlisha and was still lying in the sterile ward undergoing medicalobservation.

"Dad." Anderson was too clever, sensing that something was wrongwithLuther's expression.

He probed, "Dad, did something happen? I want to go see Mommy andmy sister. Is that okay?"

Luther took a deep breath, deciding to tell Anderson the truth. Andersonwas too clever, and there was no way to hide it from him.

"Anderson, listen to me. Something unexpected happened last night. InAlisha's perception, Athena is her mother because Athena was the firstperson she saw when she opened her eyes. Plus, Athena raised her, taught her to speak, and read. For a long time, Athena instilled her withmany negative thoughts. So, your sister has a strong aversion to yourmommy."

"She doesn't recognize Mommy, right?" Anderson understood.

"Not just that. Last night, she was emotionally agitated and stabbedyour mommy with a little knife. Fortunately, she was promptly treatedand is fine now. Your mommy is in a sterile ward and will be transferredto a VIP room soon,” Luther finally finished explaining.

Anderson was stunned, unable to accept it for a while. His long-awaitedsister had actually hurt Mommy?

Suddenly, he seemed to remember something and hurriedly asked,"What about my little brothers? Are they okay?"

Luther touched Anderson's soft hair. "They're safe. Don't worry."Anderson breathed a sigh of relief.

"So, for now, don't go see your sister. She's currently in a coma. Whenshe wakes up, I'll make sure to check her current emotional statebefore you approach her, okay?" Luther said. "I don't want you to behurt again.”

"Understood," Anderson nodded.

Luther let out a long breath and held Anderson in his arms again, embracing him tightly.

"Dad, you won't leave us again, right?" Anderson reached out his smallhand and held Luther's neck, asking seriously.

Luther's body trembled. Of course, he didn't want to leave them. Aslong as he could survive, he would always be by their side. However,he couldn't tell Anderson about the poison.

He gently patted Anderson's back. "Hmm."

Anderson was overjoyed. "Promise not to lie."

"Of course," Luther promised, holding Anderson even tighter.

He truly wished that he would never let go again.
