Chapter 1805: Grandma's Breakfast

Luxurious mansion in the city.

Joyce had been resting at home for a few days, confined to bed andrarely getting up. Whenever she needed to eat in the dining room ortake a bath in the bathroom, Luther would personally carry her.

After a few days, her physical condition had stabilized completely. Bothtwins were doing well, and there were no signs of any complications.Today, Jamie came to give her a comprehensive check-up, and shewas now able to move around the house normally, as long as sheavoided strenuous exercise and minimized going out.

Being at home for several days was starting to drive Joyce crazy. However, she wasn't idle.

She went through the large amount of information Cecelia had givenher, one by one. These were all about the research personnel from thesecret laboratory and information about their families, including theitems and books they had in their homes, as well as the web pagesthey had visited that could still be traced.

The workload was significant, and Joyce couldn't finish it alone.Sometimes she asked Darrin to help with the search, to see if theycould replace any useful information. Anderson also helped in organizingthe collected information, creating mind maps and entering them intothe system he had developed.

This morning, after Anderson got up and finished breakfast, he ran intothe room and said to Joyce, "Mommy, I made a new system last night. After your information is entered, it can automatically analyze it byconnecting to the database. If there are any internal patterns amongthem, the system will give a reminder. Remember to pay attention, okay?"

Joyce gently touched the back of Anderson's head. "Okay, you're soamazing. You should go to school now. You haven't gone for a fewdays, and the other kids must miss you."

Anderson nodded. "Yes, it's already planned. Uncle Aaron will take meto school today. From now on, he will stay at school to protect me."Mommy wanted him to grow up like a normal child, go to schoolnormally, and interact with peers normally. He understood Mommy'sintentions. Now he didn't resist going to school anymore.

Just then, Luther walked into the room and sat beside Joyce, embracing her from behind.

“I've arranged for Aaron to protect Anderson 24/7, just in case,” he saidsoftly.

"Okay. By the way, Athena seems to be quieter recently?" Joyce asked, without avoiding Anderson when she asked. After all, Anderson wasinvolved, and she needed him to understand the whole process.Luther nodded. "Athena took a bullet in her shoulder. For a while, shewon't be able to make waves."

“I noticed that you intentionally shot her in the same spot where shewas previously injured. She was on the Black Hawk helicopter at thetime, and I had sniped through her shoulder. This time, the wound iscompounded, and she probably won't be able to bear it. It will take along time for her to recover,” Joyce said, setting aside the materials shehad been reading.

Luther sneered. "Compared to the pain she inflicted on Alisha, thispunishment is light for her. She's not as strong as outsiders think. I'venoticed that she has been injecting painkillers. The dosage keepsincreasing.”

"Doesn't that lead to addiction?" Joyce frowned.

Luther nodded. "Yes, that's why I intentionally increased her dosage.Combined with her shoulder being pierced again this time, sheprobably won't be able to live without painkillers from now on. It willbecome a major weakness for her."

He had done it on purpose. When Athena became dependent onpainkillers, the dosage would only increase. From enduring the painand then injecting when it became unbearable, to needing to injectevery day, and finally, only being able to sustain it for a few hours. Heraddiction to painkillers would grow, her dependence would becomestronger, and she would do less harm. Athena, that wicked woman, wasn't worth a single death. He had already given her a bargain.Joyce didn't say anything.

Athena was still a threat, even though she was currently quiet. Shewould definitely make a comeback, and they had to be extremelycautious. Unless they completely eradicated OGW and drove Athenaback to Rohomes, this matter would never end.

Speaking of Alisha, Anderson couldn't help but ask, "Mommy, any newsabout my little sister?"

Immediately after Anderson asked, Joyce's phone rang.

"It's a message from Grandma.” Anderson keenly saw the messageprompt on the screen.

Joyce glanced at it and a smile filled her lips. “What a coincidence.Let's open it together and see.”

She clicked on it. It was a video message from Cecelia, and Alisha wasin the center of the frame.

They played the video, and in the frame, Alisha wassitting at the diningtable, having breakfast. She looked lively and her face appeared to bein good spirits. Her cheeks were rosy, her skin fair and translucent. Shehad cute little braids, and her mouth was full.

Luther leaned in, and the three of them watched the video together.Seeing Alisha, the longing in his heart stirred, making him feel uneasy. He missed the days when he would hold her in his arms.

"Wow, so much delicious food. These are Grandma's best dishes. Thisis my favorite egg cake. Little sister looks very happy. She should begetting used to her new surroundings,” Anderson said excitedly, pointing at the screen.

In the video, Cecelia picked up a mini steamed dumpling for Alisha, andshe ate them one after another. She sat close to Cecelia, her little facebeaming with a smile, and her eyes shining brightly.

"Is it delicious?" Cecelia asked gently.

"Mmm, Grandma, you're amazing!" Alisha nodded eagerly, unable toresist hugging Cecelia.

Joyce watched this warm scene and couldn't help but feel her eyesmoisten. Alisha was receiving the best care, and her chest injuryneeded time to heal and special care to prevent infection. The militarycompound could provide the best medical resources. Her mother,Cecelia, took care of Alisha's daily life attentively. What else could sheworry about?

She just hoped that Alisha would accept her soon and call her"Mommy."

The video ended.

Luther gently patted Joyce on the back. "Don't worry, Alisha is doingwell. It's better for her to be where she is now. If she were with us, shewould resist and be triggered. It's better this way, where she canrecover peacefully.”

Joyce nodded. "Yes, I know. Anderson, it's time for you to leave.”

She glanced at the time and reminded Anderson.

"Oh, right. I'm going to be late." Anderson quickly got off the bed andrushed to the door. "Goodbye, Mommy and Daddy!"

After saying that, he rushed out the door.

Once Anderson left.

Joyce asked, "What about Vicki? Did Felix replace her?"

Luther shook his head. “It's strange. I heard that Felix actually foundVicki. But Vicki didn't come back with him. I wanted to ask Felixyesterday, but his mood wasn't good, so I didn't inquire further. I'll replaceout today what happened.”

"Okay." Joyce nodded.

Suddenly, she reached out and wrapped her arm around Luther's waist, holding him tightly. "Don't go, stay here with me for a while."

After searching for several days without replaceing any clues, she felt aninexplicable sense of anxiety. At this moment, she didn't want anythingelse, she just wanted to hold him and feel his presence.

Luther reached behind and embraced her, gently kissing her forehead, and softly said, "Okay."
