You Rejected Me. Remember?
Bonus Chapter 2

The Queen’s pregnancy had brought happiness to the whole Kingdom, especially to her family and the members of the Dark Howl pack. However, since she had not been feeling well, everyone had gone back to their homes after cutting the celebration short on her birthday night.

Months passed by. Ava and Nolan made plans to visit her and during their visit, they planned to stay with Ava’s family for a couple of days.

Ava was ecstatic about meeting her friends and family. Since she had been living in the pack away from where she had grown up, she missed them a lot, despite making new friends and having a supportive mate beside her.

She had informed Daphne and the others about her arrival so that they could plan a surprise meeting with Cassy.

Ava practically ran into her mother’s arms as soon as she arrived at her home.

“I missed you so much, my baby girl.” She whispered, sniffing into Ava’s hair.

“I missed you too, mom.” Ava sighed.

“How is everything? Any hopes of becoming a grandparent soon?” Her dad asked, making Ava giggle.

“Even Cassy had complained about her parents whining about grandpups. What is with you all?” She chuckled.

“Well, it is lovely to have kids around. We kind of miss your childhood.” Her mom replied.

“Yeah. And we kind of want you all to know how hard it is when you all whine about every little thing!” Ava’s dad commented.

“Mike!!!” Ava’s mom exclaimed, frowning at her husband.

“What? It is hard!” He responded, shrugging his shoulders. But then he grinned at his daughter.

“I’m just kidding honey. Being a parent is fun, hard, but fun.” He told her.

“Well, that sounds confusing to me.” Ava smiled at Nolan.

“Yeah. It is. Parenthood is weird. Kids can be annoying, but you would love them to bits. You wouldn’t want to have it in any other way.” Her mom nodded her head.

“Wow. Are we sure we want this, Nolan?” She chuckled anxiously. Nolan had a sheepish smile on his face.

“You better want to have kids, young lady. Or else I’ll have to hypnotize you.” Her father warned.

“Oops.” She giggled. Just then her phone rang. When she saw it was Daphne, she excused herself.

“I think my friends are here to meet me. I’ll be back after meeting Cassy. Okay?” She said and gestured to Nolan to come with her.

“Do you think your grandma will come?” He asked as they walked outside.

“I don’t know. I sure hope she does.” Ava sighed. She had sent a message to her grandmother, begging her to come and visit them, so that they could spend some time as a family. However, she didn’t receive anything in reply.

“It is pathetic that she still keeps away from mom. I mean, come on, she is my mother.” Ava told him sadly.

Nolan offered a reassuring hug and placed a soft k**s on her temple.

“Things will work out. Don’t worry.” He told her.

They went to the palace and met the Queen. Cassy was ecstatic to see her friends and her brother.

“Bring mom and dad next time.” She told Nolan, as she rubbed her five-month-old bump.

“Of course. I will be back soon. You are almost ready to pop anyway. This trip is mostly to reunite Ava’s family.” He said.

“Reunite?” Cassy asked, furrowing her eyebrows.

“Yeah. You know, her grandma and her mom don’t get along.” He explained. Cassy’s mouth formed an ‘o’ when she understood what he meant.

“I hope things work out.” She responded, and Nolan nodded his head.

The girls enjoyed while Nolan spent time with Elliot. After an eventful day, they went back to their homes.

The sun had almost set when Ava entered the house, with Nolan right behind her.

“And it’s about time. Who leaves the house after inviting her grandmother?” Ava was startled to hear her grandmother’s voice. Widening her eyes, she looked up at the familiar old woman who stood in front of her.

“Grandma! You came!” She gasped, as a wide grin spread across her face.

“Of course I did! And we have had a lot of fun without you. Haven’t we, Alice?” She stated, looking at Ava’s mother, who was smiling at Ava. Her father too looked relieved as he leaned against the wall. Her brothers were already playing a board game on the floor in front of the couch.

Ava sighed in contentment. She walked towards her grandma and hugged her.

“Thank you for coming, grandma.” She sighed.

“No, honey. Thank you. I was missing a lot already and honestly, you have helped me swallow my pride and do what I should have done in the first place.” She replied, caressing Ava’s hair. There was a long pause where no one said anything. Ava tried her best not to cry, yet, little droplets of tears rolled out of her eyes.

“I think the grill must be done now, let’s check it out, Alice.” Her grandmother broke the silence.

“Yes, mother.” Ava’s mother replied, smiling.

Ava watched the two ladies walk towards the kitchen.

“She came a few minutes after you left and apologized to your mom.” Her dad told her.

“Really?” Ava couldn’t hold back her grin.

“Yes. Thank you, honey. You are a blessing.” He said, hugging his daughter.

Nolan watched the father and daughter rejoice silently. It was heartwarming to see a family reunite. He had seen it once before when Cassy had returned to his home and met his parents.

The situation was different. However, it was an emotional experience each time.

“Michael!” Ava’s grandma’s stern voice came from the kitchen. “Come and help your wife in the kitchen! I didn’t raise you to make your wife do all the work!”

“Yikes!” Her father muttered. “I better go.” He said and rushed towards the kitchen.

“See, I told you things will work out,” Nolan told his mate, smiling. Giggling, she nodded.

“Yeah. I’m glad.” Ava sighed as she sat beside him on the couch.

“A couple of pups is only what is missing in our lives now.” He chuckled in response.

“Nolan,” Ava spoke after a while.

“Hmm?”

“I’m scared to have pups.” She admitted.

“Why?” He asked, frowning at her.

“I don’t know….. what if I am not a good mother?” She voiced her concern.

Nolan clicked his tongue. “I am sure you will be an amazing mother. Why are you thinking too much?” He asked, making her sigh.

“I’ve been living a secluded life until my lycan woke up. You know….. because of the curse…..”

“But it is broken now, isn’t it?” He asked her.

“Yes. I’m still scared….what if it passes onto my pups?” Her eyes welled with tears.

“Oh come on. It won’t. I’m sure. And besides, your father and grandma are here to help, aren’t they?” He told her.

“It won’t hurt your offspring, Ava.” Her grandma’s voice startled them. They hadn’t realised that she had come into the living room.

“Your father had done an excellent job at lightning the curse. Moreover, your lycan has woken up and you are mated to a werewolf, which means your children would be more of wolves than wizards. But I sure hope at least some of them have powers.” She smiled, after explaining it to Ava.

Ava sighed in relief. “So it is safe?” She asked hopefully, receiving a nod in response.

“Of course. And like your mate had said, I’m here to help.” She said, making Ava sigh relief.

Everything was perfect… finally!
