A Gold Alpha For A Silver Alpha
Moon-Colored Eyes Chapter 7

Mate, mate, mate, mate, mate, mate, mate, mate.

It's the only thing my mind can understand at the moment.

Call me a masochist if you want. The wolf was present at the worst moment of my life and probably was about to kill me too along with his friends but my Casiana is prancing around in my mind very excited.

As for me I have no idea what to think about the male, what was he doing in our territory, why didn't he stay to meet me, did he not love me, was he going to reject me? My heart shrank at that thought.

I don't want him to reject me, maybe in the past I didn't want to have a mate who would tie me to his side and treat me like property. But my parents and Julian were right all along. When you meet your mate and feel the bond that unites you things change. How deluded I was to believe that I would be able to resist. Right now my primal instincts are urging me to get up from my bed and run out into the woods and look for him.

And it is that his scent. Moon Goddess, his scent was driving me crazy, definitely my partner's scent was my new favorite fragrance. And I know everyone will say it's stupid that I'm thinking this way about a person I haven't even seen his face but understand me. If the goddess Selene assigned him to me as my partner, she must have her reasons.

Right?

My father and my brothers had left me alone in my room hours ago to rest. And I had every intention of doing so, really, but sleep did not want to come to me. I stayed tossing and turning on the mattress, tangled in the blankets until midnight. When the moon was at its highest point I reassigned myself not to sleep that night and stood up.

I couldn't leave my room because I didn't want to endure my father's scolding, so I went to the bathroom and carefully checked my wounds in the mirror, removing the bandages covering my torso. Dried silver blood stained my skin, but that was the only sign of what I had lived through. Not a single scar where the arrows had stuck, nor where the white wolf had wounded me. Being my mother's descendant really had its advantages.

Since I felt dirty, I decided to take a bath. I washed off the mud, the leaves, the sweat and the blood. And unfortunately the faint fragrance of my partner also disappeared from my skin. Although not from my memory, I would die first before forgetting him. When I went outside I wore black athletic shorts with a T-shirt I had stolen from Jace in gray. I stood barefoot because I had always loved the feel of different surfaces on my bare feet, dried and brushed my hair as I took a seat in front of the large window I had on one of my walls. My eyes changed to my wolf's under my will, and thanks to that improved vision I could see more clearly through the night.

All was quiet and nothing was out of the ordinary. I could see several wolves standing guard but that was all, the night was quiet and calm. Too calm to tell the truth, even more so when a few hours ago the daughter of the Alphas had been attacked.

My mind flew back to my mother and the hard look she had when she found me. Had she found my attackers, had she found him, was she hurting him? Certainly the wolf deserved a good beating from me for not helping me but I definitely didn't want him to die in my mother's clutches. I had never seen her murder anyone but the legends and rumors about her person were explicit and frightening enough to have me genuinely concerned for the physical and intellectual integrity of my companion.

I stopped running the brush through my hair when I saw some shadows moving on the edge of the forest, I leaned over the glass and my breath fogged it up limiting my vision. I hurried to clean it to see better. My heart skipped a beat when after a few seconds several figures came walking by. The guards immediately went into combat stance but then relaxed and bowed.

That alone meant that it was my mother who was returning. I waited for a few moments for them to be closer, and finally saw the other wolves accompanying her. Dannia was walking beside my mother and they both looked annoyed. Several of their warriors were behind them and they looked tired. But that was not what made me uneasy. Rather it was the second I recognized my mother's Beta closing the march while carrying a lump like a sack of potatoes on one shoulder. But that wasn't just any lump, it was a person. My pulse shot up and my wolf began to growl menacingly at the thought of our companion being hurt. Mom turned and began to give orders. Logan and the warriors scattered in different directions, and I couldn't see where they were taking him. My mother stood for a few seconds discussing something with her Delta before they both said their goodbyes and finally each went on their way. Dannia to her house and my mother to ours.

I followed her with my eyes at all times. I admired her poise and her sure-footedness as she walked. The wolves she passed stopped to look at her and bowed their heads in respect. My mother was definitely an Alpha feared and respected not only by our pack, but by all of them. When she was only a few meters away from the mansion she suddenly raised her face to the window where she was sitting. And in spite of the distance and the darkness, I had no doubt that her silver eyes were looking at me reproachfully. I followed her with my eyes at all times. And despite the distance and the darkness, I had no doubt that her silver eyes were looking at me reproachfully.

She knew I was watching her instead of being asleep. I blushed helplessly. Mom nodded and pointed to the entrance before crossing it, and I took that as an invitation.

My mother knew I wasn't going to rest all night if I didn't hear from my mate. And as afraid as I was to ask her about what happened, the need to know if the person she brought was my mate was stronger.

I slipped on some fluffy slippers that had been a gift from my father when I was fifteen and took several breaths to get ready. I left my room and closed the door as cautiously as I was able, not wanting to wake my siblings or alert them. This is a matter that I only focused on me.

And well, my parents and my partner.

I walked stealthily down the hallway and down the stairs almost jumping steps to get to the first floor faster. My home was lights out and quiet. Everyone was resting at this hour just as I should be resting. I knew I was going to replace my mother in the office I shared with my father so that's where I guided my steps.

Unlike usual the office door was wide open and the light coming out of it illuminated the whole hallway. I could see my father sitting behind the wooden desk and my mother standing with her arms crossed in front of it. Both were tense and looked annoyed with each other.

-Mom? I asked as soon as I reached the door frame where I stopped, asking permission to enter. My parents stopped looking at each other to focus their attention on me.

-Julietta, you should be resting in your bed. It was my father who spoke in a reproachful tone and Mom rolled her eyes.

-Don't overdo it Jason. Juliet has silver blood in her veins and very few things can seriously hurt her. After an afternoon of lying down, it's natural for her to have pent-up energy.

-You say that as if coming home unconscious is something that happens every day. My father complains, annoyed and with concern in his tone.

-It's not and it shouldn't be. But she understands that wounds don't affect us in the same way, the only thing that happened was that she lost a lot of blood due to the amount of arrows and that's why she fainted, she never ran a greater danger than that-. -I can't believe you take this matter so lightly! Dad shouts in an Alpha tone and I instinctively duck my head.

A growl echoes through the walls and I give my mother an angry look at my dad. That look that everyone fears, the one that makes her eyes turn to liquid mercury.

-I am doing no such thing, what happened was something very serious that needs to be treated seriously. But I know my blood and I know what they are capable of. Besides Juliet has the right to come and ask about what she wants to know. So don't lecture me on how to be an Alpha or a mother husband because tonight you will sleep under the stars. Juliet, please come in.

My mother used a soft but deadly serious tone, and that was enough to make the anger disappear from my father's eyes leaving only mild irritation.

I didn't dare to contradict my mother and went in slowly. I dared to look her in the face and was surprised to see her staring at me, expectantly. She didn't say anything to me and I knew perfectly well she wouldn't unless I got up the courage and asked her directly. I cleared my throat and squared my shoulders before speaking.

-The person you brought, is that my mate?

I finally asked straight to the point and my father started to grunt, but neither mom nor I saw him. We stood face to face. Silver against silver. She smiled half-sideways and a sparkle of pride shone in her irises.

-I don't know, I followed the trail but it took three different directions. Logan followed one, Dannia followed another and I followed the third. Dannia and I hit dead spots but Logan found a male and subdued him. I don't know if it's your mate, he had your scent but it's no surprise since I guess you were attacked in a group.

-Where is he? I asked with a slight tremor in my voice. My mother's eyes glittered murderously before she answered.

-Where is he? I asked with a slight tremor in my voice. My mother's eyes glittered murderously before she answered.

-The wolf tried to escape on his way here by attacking Dannia, he stupidly thought he would be an easy target so he left me no choice but to knock him unconscious. He is currently in the pack prison where he will remain until your father and I decide what to do with him.

-I want to see him. I dared to say.

-Over my dead body. My father interrupted and my expression darkened. Casiana began to growl in my head. I gave Dad the best imitation of my mother's look I could do.

-It's my partner we're talking about, it's my right.

-We don't know if the wolf that is imprisoned is your mate, besides he is a rouge guilty of crimes against the pack. Dad says with a serious tone but I don't back down.

-And the only way to know if he is my mate is to have him around. Rouge or not rouge, I need to see him, besides the crimes he is guilty of are against me specifically and not against the herd. I replied annoyed.

-And you are a daughter of Alphas, part of this pack. Any crime committed against any wolf that is under our protection is everybody's business. And I say you will not see that male until we are sure that he is not a danger to the members of this family.

I clench my jaw and my hands ball into fists. I have a staring war with my father, the order explicit in the words I mention.

-You can't do that...". I start but he interrupts me.

-I'm your father and your Alpha, of course I can. Now go to your bedroom and don't come out of there until it's a decent hour.

-Mom. I say looking at her and seeking her support, but she denies a little as she sighs.

My heart hurts for her silence but the anger is greater.

-This will not stay like this. I threaten my parents and then leave with a slam of the door that echoes throughout the mansion.

I'm pretty sure I woke everyone up with that sound, and if that wasn't enough, my footsteps are loud enough to crack the rock floor under my feet a little.

I climb the stairs clinging to the banister with more force than necessary and digging my nails into it.

I finally reach my room and open the door and slam it shut again.

My legs move kicking in the air and my slippers fly off in different directions.

I start walking in circles in annoyance as I growl.

It's not fair.

He's my partner, my mate, my life partner.

And he could be hurt, wounded, cold in a dark cell and me doing nothing.

Okay maybe he deserves a chastisement for what he did to me but my she-wolf craves his touch, his warmth.

The discomfort that runs through me needs an escape route, that's why like a little girl I approach my bed and grab the pillows to start throwing them against the wall.

My door opens and one of my projectiles ends up hitting my brother Jace in the face as he enters.

-Julietta, what happened, shouldn't you be asleep?

He asks while kicking the cushion I hit him with and closing behind him.

I keep grunting and drop face down on my mattress.

-Mate. I say with my head buried in the blanket.

I feel my brother come over and sit close to me.

His hand strokes my hair like he always does when I'm upset and makes me relax a little.

-And with a sigh I turn and stare into my twin's amber eyes.

I tell him about the whole argument with my parents and my desire to see my partner.

At the end I feel much calmer when I finally express to him all the feelings I was having since I detected his scent in the forest.

My brother listens attentively and without interrupting me. He then tells me that the best thing to do was to calm down and wait until morning before trying to talk to my parents and convince them to let me see my mate.

I reluctantly agree that the best way to do that is diplomacy, so I follow my twin's advice and calm down. In the end I ask him to stay with me because I don't trust my willpower and I see myself capable of running out in the middle of the night to see him earning me trouble with my parents.

Jace agrees and we both spend a sleepless night where he does his best to distract me.

I have the best brother in the world.
