A Gold Alpha For A Silver Alpha -
Chapter 7
Wait here, I'm going to clean up a bit. He said and did not give me a chance to answer because he immediately walked to the back of the place disappearing into the darkness and several curtains that simulated walls. I looked around in amazement, from the outside it didn't look like much, but inside it was a very different story.
Although it was dawn, the place was dark as if it was still night, small lanterns with candles illuminated the whole room. The first thing you saw when you entered was a brown sofa with several colorful cushions, a table in front of it with decorations and poufs to sit on the floor around it.
Further on there was a small dining room, white chairs, tables, and a small bar, next to it some shelves where several old books rested, some in languages that I could not recognize, in the back I guessed that the room would be, but I would not know exactly; Since apart from having a chair that blocked the way, that area was in complete darkness and no movement could be distinguished.
I stood still, fearing to ruin the calm atmosphere that was created, feeling like an intruder I approached the shelf of books and ran my fingers over several copies until my hand stopped on one in particular, it was emerald green, the title was written in gold letters and barely distinguishable what it said.
I tried to pronounce it out loud, but obviously it came out wrong.
A laugh was heard behind me and I turned to look at the Alpha already dressed in other clothes, completely clean of blood, as if nothing had happened.
She was with her arms crossed leaning back in a chair looking at me with mocking eyes and a small lopsided smile.
The most human expression I had seen on her so far.
She repeated with perfect pronunciation, laughing again when she sees my confused face.
-It's Welsh, it means, The first time the Moon came to Earth, it's an old witches' story where they explain according to their beliefs how we were created as werewolves.
I watched her with interest, she was simply perfect, with her long black hair, her full red lips that invited you to kiss her without measure and her silver eyes that made your hair stand on end because of the sensations they transmitted, she shook her head slightly and her expression changed drastically to a more closed one.
-I guess you didn't come here to hear about old witch stories, so tell me, what are you here for?
I took a deep breath before answering.
-I wanted to apologize, yesterday I behaved inappropriately and I'm sorry, it's just that since 5 years ago I'm in charge of this pack, we fought too much to get to where we are, we lost loved ones and it's not easy to let go of control, even more when you sacrificed so much to have it and when so many people depend on you and your decisions. I ended with a lump in my throat remembering Ana.
Those were very turbulent days for the herd, but we managed to get to where we are now and that fills me with pride. I am a little worried about the fact that, not having mate, I can't have offspring, that is, an heir, a future Alpha to take care of my people. But I don't want to have my puppy outside the mate bond, no, I refused and Mack agreed with me.
The girl in front of me looks at me with her head cocked to one side, analyzing me again, and for the first time I can recognize curiosity and another feeling reflected in her beautiful eyes.
Beautiful eyes, Jason focus on the conversation and not on the woman's physique.
I mentally scolded myself.
-I guess I would lose my temper too if out of nowhere someone were to change the lifestyle I'm used to. Besides, I don't think I've been very polite to you either," she cleared her throat and uncrossed her arms, "Let me introduce myself properly, I'm Rae Mckensie Alpha of the Silver Moon pack.
My eyes widen in surprise at her words and her sweet tone. A gasp escapes my lips as I hear her name slide across her lips and a strange electricity runs down my back.
Her expression had softened making her look more worldly, and I don't know why I do it, but a voice inside me urges me to get closer to her person.
And that's just what I do, her eyes widen, but they don't stop me from continuing to walk to close the distance between our bodies.
When our breaths collide and our noses are almost touching, I reach up to caress her face, but before I can do so, she suddenly pulls away.
And in the blink of an eye she was out of the tent, leaving me alone, the last thing I saw was her night-black hair moving as she ran in the direction of the forest disappearing into the huge trees. But what the hell had just happened?
Before I can go after her to ask her that very question, Logan disappears right down the same path she took, following her.
Instinctively my hands clench into two fists, my breathing becomes heavy and I unconsciously begin to grunt in annoyance.
When I notice what I'm doing I try to calm down, but something inside me makes me stir angrily at the idea of the two of them being alone together.
I shake my head commanding my rampaging heart to calm down along with my mind to stop having strange thoughts.
I swallow saliva looking around hoping no one has seen my odd reaction, but my hopes are dashed as I collide with green eyes and flame hair watching me with a lopsided smile and a curious look.
I blink and look away pretending not to have seen her and without saying a word to her I start walking back to the mansion.
What a strange morning...
Is my thought as I walk in a hurry to get there quickly and get rid of the feeling of someone watching me.
Although frankly I have a slight idea of who it might be.
