When Elara spoke, she seemed incredibly justified.

In the past, Elara would never have dared to do something like this, but now, she found that it brought her unexpected joy. No wonder Asher used to enjoy treating Elara so coldly,

Every time Elara showed even a hint of discontent toward Dapline, he would criticize her, claiming she was too petty,

It felt refreshing to turn the tables and use a player's tactics against a player, leaving them cornered.

Seeing Asher stunned, seemingly still contemplating her words, lara shifted to a gentler demeanor. "I just hope to improve my grades a bit. Asher, everything I do is just to stand by your She paused before continuing. "I don't want people to say, "Elara is just a ditzy girl. You used to look down on me. If my grades stay low and I'm with you, wouldn't that embarrass you?"

Recalling past events, Elara lifted her head, deliberately showcasing the welling tears in her eyes to appear even more pitiful. Asher initially intended to retort, but her wounded expression made him feel guilty. "I'm sorry"

"It's not your fault, Elara replied with a wry smile. "No one likes an idiot That's just how the world works. I'm not blaming you. I just want to work hard to become a better version of myself for you." Alright. I understand now." Asher admitted, persuaded by her.

Upon reflection, he realized he had been a bit thoughtless. I'm just worried that Lysander likes you. What if..."

"What if she really ends up with Lysander? What would I do then? Asher pondered.

Noticing his concern, Elara reassured him. "That won't happen."

"Why are you so sure?" Asher asked.

Elara sighed. "Do you really think all rich kids are fools? Why would he like me? I'm not on his level. If it weren't for my dad he wouldn't even glance my way." Asher believed her last stalement.

Lysander was smart and talented in every way.

He truly didn't think Lysander would be interested in Elara.

Right now, with Lysander by her side, it was probably mostly an act.

Asher's expression softened. "Okay, go rest. I won't interfere with your business with him anymore

Seeing that she had convinced him, Elara smiled. "Goodnight."

After saying this, she turned and headed back to her room.

Once in the elevator, Elara recalled Asher's words and felt happier the more she thought about it.

She was so caught up in her thoughts that she forgot to press the button for her floor, laughing to herself for quite a while before remembering.

When she finally reached the top floor, Elara lay down, feeling elated that she had managed to persuade Asher.

Particularly when she claimed that Lysander would never like he, he immediately agreed with her.

This showed that in his eyes, Elara was just a worthless, ditzy daughter from a wealthy family.

In the following period. Asher took on a part-time job.

After finishing his shifts, he would stay at the Kensington residence.

Barrett had no objections, and Elara didn't stop Asher from staying over.

However, Elara had never given him a single cent.

Many

men were like that.

They might claim they would do anything for a woman, but when it came time to contribute, they hesitated to spend a dime.

Soon, the end of the term approached, and Asher had been saving up money during this time.

He could ride with Elara to school in the mornings, but not in the evenings.

Asher finished work in the evening and took the bus back to the Kensington family.

Winter nights in Brookfield were quite cold.

His life wasn't easy.

Daphne initially thought Asher would reach out to her, but she quickly realized that aside from attending classes with Elara, he had completely stopped communicating with her, treating her like a stranger. That afternoon, Daphne approached Asher in front of Elara to ask for help with a lesson. "Asher, can you help me with this question?"

Asher replied. "I can't right now," while focusing intently on his work without looking up.

Daphne stood beside him, nearly in tears.

Elara chimed in. "What question is it? I can help you with it."

Upon hearing this, Daphne turned to Elara in disbelief.

'She's going to help me? Are you kidding? Elara's grades have improved, but does she really think she's better than me now? Daphine thought

Noticing Daphne's silence and hesitation, Elara added, "If you don't want my help, that's fine."

Elara was only concerned about the lack of communication between Daphne and Asher and wanted to ease the tension.

Daphne, hearing Elara's words, sat down beside Asher and asked Asher, Christmas is coming soon. Where will you spend it this year? Are you going back home?"

Tm not going back, Asher replied dismissively.

"Then are you spending it at Elara's house?" Daphne asked, looking curiously at Elara.

Previously, Asher had always spent Christmas at Elara's place.

Asher glanced at Elara and said, "I'm spending Christmas with you this year."

Asher thought that with Lysander likely avoiding the Kensington family for a bit, he could enjoy some peace.

Elara spoke up. "This year, that's probably not going to work."

"Why not?" Daphne asked, puzzled.

Elara touched her nose thoughtfully. "I promised my dad I'd spend Christmas in Starfield City this year."

"Starfield City?" Asher replied, surprised.

Elara had never mentioned this to him.

Elara confirmed it. "Yeah."

Actually, a couple of days earlier, she had asked Lysander where he planned to spend Christmas

Lysander mentioned Starfield City and asked if she wanted to join him, to which Elara agreed, planning to go after her

exams were over.

However, Elara certainly couldn't reveal that it was Lysander's suggestion since she still had to maintain her act with Asher. Elara's role now was to be someone who liked Asher but couldn't be with him due to family reasons. She was quite committed to the performance.

Daphne looked at Elara enviously. "That sounds amazing! I've never been there?

Daphne thought, Asher will probably go with Elara. If only Asher could bring me along too."

Elara looked at her and said, "Why don't we all go together?"

"Really?" Daphne exclaimed in surprise.

Is Elara really willing to take me with her? she wondered.

Elara replied generously, "Just transfer the money for your plane ticket to me, and I'll arrange to book the tickets for you. I can also help with the hotel. We're friends, after all. It's no trouble at all"

Daphne was momentarily taken aback by Elara's suggestion to transfer money for the ticket.

She asked, "How much is the plane ticket?"

Elara replied, "Round trip should be over 1.000 dollars for economy class, but I usually fly business, which, including fuel fees, will be around 1,600 dollars."

"That's so expensive! Daphne exclaimed, looking at Elara in shock.

"It'll be even pricier closer to Christmas. I have someone helping me get the tickets, Elara said nonchalantly.

Upon hearing that price, Daphne felt overwhelmed. "Never mind. I won't go."

You want me to pay? What's the point? 1,000 dollars for a round trip? My parents don't even make that much combined in a month!" Daphne thought, feeling frustrated. Daphne had originally hoped that Elara would cover the cost, taking her along when she and Asher went.
