After Death, Love Unveiled (Elara and Lysander) -
Unveiled 43
Chapter 43
'Damn it! Asher has been with Elara for so long, and he hasn't given me any benefits at all, Daphne felt a bit restless inside as she wondered. Elara said, "Aren't you going? That's too bad."
If Daphne paid for herself, Elara wouldn't mind taking her along
But Elara could tell that Daphne was trying to take advantage of her.
You want me to foot the bill? No way,' Elara thought.
Daphne looked at Elara, awkwardly explaining, "I have things to take care of over winter break, and I need to do my homework."
"Well, that's just too bad," Elara said.
In the afternoon, Daphne and Asher we
to a meeting.
Daphne spoke up, looking at Asher. "I
envy you."
"Envy what?" Asher walked ahead of her with his long strides.
Daphne glanced at Asher, who towered over her. "You will get to go to Starfield City with Elara. That's a lot of money. Elara is such a rich lady."
'It's all the money he earned while being with Elara. I deserve it, Daphne thought.
Daphne knew that Elara definitely wouldn't take her along, but if Asher were willing to, Elara wouldn't mind.
Whenever Asher wanted to give her something in the past, he did it himself, and Elara had no say in the matter.
Asher turned to Daphne. "Do you want to go?"
"I'd love to check it out, but never mind." Daphne pretended she wasn't interested in joining them.
"I'll go myself once I get into Queensun University" she added, forcing a smile.
In the past, whenever she said that, Asher would b
disregarded everything to take her along.
Now, however, Asher looked at her and didn't respond as she had hoped, "I'd love for her to take you with her, but didn't you her?" say not to upset
Daphne was momentarily at a loss for words.
Hearing Asher's response, she felt a chill.
Does this mean they won't include me in any of their activities from now on? He's drawing a clear line between us,' she wondered.
Daphne had encouraged Asher to be with Elara so he could make money, not to indulge in leisure with Elara while disregarding her feelings. Elara's eyes were red, looking a bit wronged. "Asher, are you just trying to get back at me?" wed,

Asher was indeed retaliating,
After holding back for so long, he finally saw his chance and spoke in a deliberately sarcastic tone. "What right do I have to get back at you? You're so eager for me to be with Elara. Of course, I'll be with her. Just as you wish, I'll marry her." Daphne froze at this.
She couldn't believe her ears as she looked at Asher. "Marry? Are you serious? With Elara?"
"Why not?" Asher replied. "As long as I marry her, I can reach the pinnacle of life. Aren't you doing this for me? You should be happy to see me doing well." "No," Daphne replied. "1..."
"Enough," Asher interrupted, his face cold and his attitude toward Daphne more distant than ever. "Since you said we were breaking up last time, we are really done. I will never get back with you. I don't plan to like you anymore. The person I like now is Elara. She treats me well. At least she truly likes me. Unlike you..."
With that, Asher turned and walked away.
Daphne stared at his retreating figure, feeling a sudden sense of panic as she wondered, 'Is he really planning to cut me off? Is he really going to be with Elara? No. Absolutely not.
Realizing this, panic began to creep across Daphne's face.
When Daphne arrived at the classroom, Asher was standing at the podium, addressing everyone.
He stood there, cool and composed, with a pleasant voice.
Daphne had always felt a closeness to him, but now, seeing him up there, he felt distant.
After the meeting, Daphne wanted to speak to Asher again, but he ignored her.
"I have things to do," he said brusquely before walking away.

After school, Asher followed Elara. "Going to Starfield City right after the exams?"
Elara nodded. "Yes."
She turned back to glance at him and added, "But I won't be able to spend Christmas with you. I'll bring you a gift, though."
Surprised at her promise of a gift, Asher looked at her in disbelief. "So, you're not taking me with you?"
"I already said," Elara replied defiantly, "I can't spend Christmas with you this year. Ursa and the others will also be on break, so you should just head home. Don't miss me too much." With that, Elara stopped in front of the car. "I'll be going now."
Asher's expression darkened.
He had just told Daphne that he was going to Starfield City with Elara, and now she said she wouldn't take him.
He instinctively felt that if she really was going somewhere fun, he would have included him as before, but now it seemed he wasn't part of her plans at all.
Frustrated, Asher asked, "Elara, does what you said about being together still count?"

"Of course it does. Isn't the exam coming up soon? You should focus on that. You should be able to beat Lysander, right?" Elara said.
Asher seemed suddenly more astute today. He wasn't as easily fooled as before. "Why do I get the feeling you don't really want to be with me?"
"Why would you think that?" Elara stepped back, looking at him in disbelief. "Can't you tell how much I like you?"
Asher frowned, feeling disappointed. "I just feel like you're not the same with me anymore."
Before, Elara would give him money, wouldn't make him go to extra classes every day, and wouldn't be seen with Lysander constantly.
"Not the same with you?" Elara smiled wryly. "If you think liking you means I should go back to being your servant as I did for you and Daphne, then I can't do that."
Asher stared at her, worried about upsetting her, and explained, I don't want you to do those things for me. I just want to know if you like me."
"Didn't I already say?" Elara responded. "As long as you score higher than Lysander, I'll be with you."
"And if I don't?" Asher pressed.
Elara bit her lip, glancing at the time before changing the subject. "I have an appointment soon, so I won't be able to stay with you. We can talk about it tonight when we get home." She avoided answering his question directly and turned to get into the car.
As Elara settled into the vehicle, she glanced back at Asher.
He stood there, staring at her with a somewhat pitiful look.
She instructed the driver to start driving without looking back at him.
'Is he pitiful? Wasn't I pitiful back then? When I called him hoping for some money, he just tossed me a few hundred dollars and dismissed me.
He even had the nerve to make sarcastic comments, making it uncomfortable to accept his help.
'Now, treating him this way is just what he deserves,' Elara thought.
Elara wasn't worried about driving Asher away.
Because even if he did score higher than Lysander, she wouldn't be with him.
And she would never marry him.
The driver didn't take Elara home. Instead, he drove her directly to the Regal Crest Hotel.
