Chapter 23 Hadn’t Divorced Yet!
Most of the people here were people from the rumored upper-class society, as well as people who made it in the wealth rankings. One could also see familiar faces they had seen on TV before.
Aiden was unaffected by such events. After all, the people he met in Delcord had much higher statuses and positions than this, and the royal family even acknowledged him as an esteemed guest. In terms of status and wealth, these people couldn’t compare.
Even though Angelina hadn’t seen such a sight before, she remained calm through it all. She didn’t look too elated, nor did she seem humbled. She was just a little surprised when she saw certain people. Hence, as Aiden gazed at Angeline, he was all the more appreciative of her.
“This way please, Mr. Finnegan,” Lucas Burton said respectfully as he looked at Aiden.
In truth, many people had noticed Aiden when he walked in just now. After all, Lucas represented Mr. Webb more often than not. When they saw Lucas leading a stranger, they naturally began to guess Aiden’s identity.
In comparison, Angelina was probably the one that garnered the most attention. Even in such a setting, Angelina’s brilliant beauty was clear for all to see. Her calm and collected appearance had been enough to hypnotize the masses.
Naturally, Aiden’s parents-in-law followed Aiden as well. They weren’t familiar with this place, so they couldn’t afford to offend anyone there. Thus, they decided to play it safe by staying behind Aiden.
“Please have a seat. Mr. Finnegan shall be meeting Mr. Webb now,” Lucas turned to the other three and commented.
The three of them nodded, not daring to tag along. Aiden was going to meet Mr. Webb because he had helped the latter before, but the three were not involved at all. Moreover, how could any of them know what Aiden was thinking? In the end, they found a place and sat down anxiously.
Even though the three were slightly humbled and dared not greet anyone, the other guests had other ideas. When the other guests saw the three of them entering with Aiden, they decided to ask about him since they were curious about the man’s identity.
Under Lucas’ guidance, Aiden arrived at the inner hall. A beautiful young lady was standing next to an old man. Lucas remembered that woman, for she was the panicked and helpless woman back then.
When she saw Aiden, an excited look flashed across her eyes. “Dad, this is the man who saved William,” she said softly.
The old man got up and walked forward while maintaining his gaze on Aiden. In the next moment, however, he bowed. “Thank you for saving my son, sir. The Webb Family will always remember your kindness.”
“There’s no need for such courtesy. I just happened to pass by.” Aiden smiled faintly.
He didn’t care about prominence, for he no longer needed to depend on anyone. As such, Aiden wasn’t too excited about Mr. Webb’s gratitude.

“No matter what, the Webb Family is indebted to you. If you have any needs in the future, the Webb Family will provide as much help as possible.” After both parties took their seats, the old man spoke courteously.
“You’re too kind.” Aiden was glad that Mr. Webb didn’t just take out a check and force it on him. After all, some people couldn’t get over themselves.
“Well, the banquet tonight is to celebrate my son’s recovery. Do come with me, Mr. Finnegan,” said Mr. Webb with a smile.
“It’s okay, I’ll be fine on my own.” Aiden shook his head instead. It would’ve been an honor for anyone, but Aiden didn’t want to stand out too much and declined the offer. He was happy enough that the Webb Family remembered his kindness.
In actuality, he only attended so that Angelina and Linda could have a look.
He had seen such events at Delcord, and he wasn’t bent on pursuing wealth or status.
With his current power that overrode all rules, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t get in this world, but why should it matter if he did get it? It would mean nothing to him, and nothing could compare with a beautiful smile from his wife.
He didn’t want to keep a low profile since Angelina didn’t like it. Of course, he didn’t want to be too high-profile either.
Even though he was already disappointed in Angelina, Aiden still had some complaints in his heart.
Later on, Mr. Webb walked out of the inner hall together with Lucas and the beautiful young lady. Many guests had turned up, so they couldn’t greet just Aiden alone.
Meanwhile, Aiden had left through another door before then. After he returned, he walked up to Angelina as she stood in a corner. “Now, you know I’m not lying to you,” he said.
Angelina looked at the man in front of her, a little surprised. When the man spoke, he exuded a sort of confidence she couldn’t describe.
“Yeah,” she responded.
After seeing Angelina like that, Aiden could only smile bitterly inside. She was a cold and strong person, so it was already a huge feat to get her to respond. If he wanted to hear her apologize, it would probably be even more difficult than sprouting wings and flying.
When he walked toward the corner, he caught sight of Linda and Harvey. A well-dressed man was standing in front of Linda with a wine glass in his hand and a smile on his face. Linda hadn’t noticed Aiden and Angelina walking over to them as she talked to the man.
“That’s my
son-in-law and my daughter. My son-in-law saved the young master of the Webb Family!” Linda said proudly.
When Aiden heard that, he was dumbfounded. “I never thought that my mother-in-law would one day show off a loser like me,” he remarked self-deprecatingly.
“Aiden, you’ve known my mom for a while now, so why hold it against her?” Angelina subconsciously

lowered her volume as she spoke. Even though she knew Linda was in the wrong at times, the latter was still her mother regardless.
Aiden smiled when he heard that, then said calmly, “Am I holding it against her, or is she simply overdoing it? In your eyes, I’m always the one to blame. Even if your mother is twisting the truth, you’d still think that I’m at fault if I refute her! She claimed that Titan’s ginseng was genuine just to get on his good side. However, a bracelet bought with real money was seen as a fake simply because it was a gift from me!”
Angelina frowned slightly and asked, “Did the Thatcher Family give you the money for the bracelet?”
“Yes, I got it as a consultation fee,” Aiden said calmly.
“Did you really treat Mr. Thatcher?” she asked, ready to reprimand him again.
He put on a self-mocking smile instead as he said, “Even if you don’t believe me, I do know medicine, and I can treat illnesses to save lives. However, since you don’t believe me, why concern yourself with that?”
She was stunned to hear that. She felt a little wronged inside as though she wasn’t permitted to ask questions.
They hadn’t divorced yet, after all!
At that moment, Linda spotted Aiden. A look of awkwardness appeared on her face, but she still forced a smile as she walked up to him. “Aiden, this is the president of Horizon Company, a manufacturer of medicinal herbs. We’re running a medicinal herb business, so we might partner up with them in the future.” Linda pointed at the man in a suit and leather shoes as she introduced him.
Aiden was so used to seeing Linda’s face filled with scorn that he was surprised to see a rare look of fawning on the same face. This only further strengthened Aiden’s resolve to leave the Gray Family.
