Alpha Dominic
Chapter 157

Dominic's

POV

I passed out a few seconds after Declan's announcement, I was just too weak to join in the celebration was occupied with everything happening around me that I forgot about the wolfsbane that is circulating through my body. I was trying to stand up to my feet and address my people, but I slumped to the floor, and I felt myself drifting into nothingness as I pass

"Wake up, Dom. We are not going to let you sleep through our victory celebration."

"Wake up, my king, we won. You hear me, we f*****g won."

"That's right my king. The tyrant is down, we killed the bastard."

"We are waiting for your instructions my king, you need to wake up and lead us to greatness. We need you, my king. We need you now more than ever."

I was hearing the cheers and encouragement from my generals, they sound gleeful, too excited if you

I can hear their voices, I really want to be a part of this celebration, it's all I've ever wanted, it's all I've ever dreamed of. I've been fighting this war for many years and now it's time to celebrate our victory, but I'm not celebrating with them. It seems like I'm in totally different world. I can hear their voices and I wish to announce to everyone that we are going to celebrate this like we used to, we are going to party like never before and we are going to live happily and peacefully along with the lycans. There will be no more deaths, our people will not be slaughtered anymore. There is so much that I want to tell them, I need to assure them that the lycans are no longer our enemies, they are now our brothers, just like they used to be. Their new king, Declan will not repeat the same mistakes of his father, he would not wage war with his own people, and he won't sell us out to be used as experiments, used as slaves, and killed when we are too weak to work. We are free, and I want to celebrate this freedom, I want to celebrate this victory with my people.

But I couldn't, I could only hear their voices and appreciate their nice words, I couldn't make any move couldn't do anything. I kept wondering why I couldn't say anything, I tried to remember what had happened to me and why I was feeling this way. Then it dawned on me that I had passed out on the battlefield because I was stabbed with a blade that is laced with wolfsbane. And Declan had killed his father to save me and my people, and that was when I passed out and... and... and...

Oh My!

"Bethany!" I screamed in panic as I jerked up from the bed abruptly, startling the people around as they all turned to gaze at me. I just realized that I didn't get a chance to speak with Bethany, I didn't even hear her voice among the crowd of people speaking to me all this while. The mere thought of not knowing how she is telling is enough to bring me out of the coma that the wolfsbane had put me in. I keep looking around the room, searching for her. But I couldn't replace her because she was not in this room, she is not here with me and it's giving me cause for concern. I don't know what happened on the battlefield after I passed out, I don't know if she got hurt or worst still, killed. I feel okay, I'm not feeling any strange feeling within me so I'm guessing that she is still alive. But I still can't shake off the feeling that something is not right with her.

"Welcome back, my king. We have been waiting patiently for you to wake up. We couldn't commence the celebration without you." Dwayne let out excitedly as they all gathered around me, smiling down at me. I wish to reciprocate their excitement, but I just don't feel like celebrating this victory now, I need to replace my woman.

"Where is she?" I let out grumpy, ignoring their stares and excitement. I don't need to elaborate, they already know who I'm talking about. From the look on their faces, I can tell that something is wrong.

"Where the hell is she?" I yelled out once more. Now it's very obvious that something is definitely wrong with Bethany. They all had this grim look on their faces and they refused to say anything or even look me in the eyes. I turned to face Dwayne and Carl, glaring daggers at them.

"Start talking!" I yelled at them, leveling them a stern look.

"Something happened after you passed out, my king. Alpha Roberts tried to escape from the palace. He had w knife to her neck, he was going to slit her throat if we didn't let him leave with his daughter. We tried to stop him, but we couldn't do anything without hurting her. We let him take her again, and he would have gotten away with it, but Bethany used her self-defense skills on him. She knocked off the blade from his hand, and she beat the crap out of him, hurting him badly. He tried to reach for the blade once more, but she got to it before him and she stabbed him in the neck, killing him on the spot with the blade that is laced with wolfsbane. We could have saved him, but she refused to let us save him. She let him bleed out and die, she killed her own father." Dwayne let out sadly, looking away from my eyes as he spoke.

I can imagine how she must be feeling right now, she had not felt guilty when she murdered those spies in my dungeon, but killing her own father in cold blood must be taking a toll on her. I don't know how she would live with herself, how the hell would she tell her mom and her sister that she had killed her father, would they ever forgive her, would the pack accept her as the new Alpha?

"Where is she, now?" I muttered softly as I took a deep breath, trying to digest all the information I just got.

"She wouldn't step out of her room. I've tried to reason with her, but she wouldn't talk to me or anyone else. We were hoping that you would be able to reach her when you wake up." Harriet responded sadly. Now I know why I was worried about her, I now understand that the nagging feeling I'm having is because my mate is drowning in her guilt. She is wallowing in guilt and it is making her feel miserable.

"It's fine. I'll talk to her pretty soon, I just need to have a few words with the lycan king, Declan. Meanwhile, let us get the party started," I let out excitedly. Now that I know that she is alive and okay, I don't need to deny them their fun time. They worked hard to help me win this war, and now that we are finally free, I have no reason to be too uptight with them. It's time to have fun.
