Chapter 15

It's 2:15, and I'm sitting in the doctor's office parking lot, about to go in for my appointment, but Ikeep hesitating. “What if I am pregnant? How will I tell Malachi? I know he wants kids, but we haveonly been seeing each other for a few months. It's too soon. We aren't even married.” My thoughtsrace with worry. I look at my clock on my phone and it's 2:30. I need to go inside.

I walk to the elevator and step inside and go to the 3rd floor. I step off and go right to the first dooron the left. When I walk in, I only see a few people, and one is a woman sitting alone and pregnant. Ifeel sad for this woman. “Does she have a husband? Or is she just going to be a single mom?’ Iwonder and my heart breaks because all I can think about Kali. I feel a tear fall down my cheek so Iwipe it away fast so no one will see.

"Anderson?" The nurse calls out. I stand to follow her through the door. She takes me to room six,asks me a few questions and then she directs me to go to the bathroom and pee in a cup. I comeback out of the bathroom and head back to room six and wait for the doctor to come in. The doctorcomes in holding a folder which I'm guessing is my chart. "Hi, Chloe. How have you been?" Dr.Bloom asks with a smile. "I'm good, just feeling sick lately,” I replied. "Yes, I see your chart says youwould like a pregnancy test.” Dr. Bloom confirms. "Yeah, I want to cross it off the list of reasons, Iwasn't sure if it could be a stomach bug, but I feel sick at random times of the day and then feel fineotherwise," I tell him. "Okay, well, I'm going to check your blood pressure,” He says. "Okay," I mutter.I watch him wrap my arm and worry that he can tell how nervous I am. "It's 112/72, which is good.Now we are waiting on the pregnancy test. I will be back in shortly with the results.” He says, thensteps out leaving me alone with my thoughts. I sat there waiting for ages, and my anxiety wasstarting to get the best of me, making me feel nauseated. I try to calm myself, so I don't puke in thedoctor's office.

There is a knock at the door, and the doctor walks in. “So, Chloe, we have the results back," Hepaused. "Um, what is it?" I ask frantically. "It's positive,” Dr. Bloom says, and the Nausea came rightback, and I couldn't hold it down. I ran to the trash and after I puked my guts up, the doctor handedme a wet towel to clean my face. "Are you alright, Chloe? It can be very nerve-racking being soyoung, but there are other options for you. You could choose to give your baby up for adoption.”He suggests. "No! I won't give my baby away. It's just a lot to take in and my anxiety took over," Isnapped. "Is the father in the picture?" He asks. "Yes, he is. I hope he stays,” I mumble to myself. Ican tell Dr. Blooms isn't sure what to say to those words.

Clearing his throat, he glances through the paperwork. "Okay, let's get your next appointment setup. I'll need to see you in a month,” Dr. Bloom says. "Okay," was all I could say. I got my nextappointment and rushed out of there. I'm still in shock, so I sit in my car. I pull up Amelia's nameand text her. "Amelia, when will you be back?" I text her. "Hey! We will be back tomorrow. Paul can'tbe gone long because he needs to be at the packhouse. Is everything okay?" she responds. "Yeah, Ijust miss you,” I text back. That's all I could say because I don't want to ruin her trip. "Awe, I miss youtoo! I'll come by tomorrow when I get back and we can go get dinner," she responds. "That soundsperfect, I'll talk to you tomorrow!" I tell her.

I finally make it home and walk through the door. I need to change for my date with Malachi, so Igo to my closet to see my options. I replace a white dress, that's tight-fitting to all my curves and goesa little past

my knee. I match it with silver stilettos. From my bedroom, I hear the door open, so I walk out of myroom to see Malachi closing it behind him. He turns around and sees me standing in the doorway."Hey there, Alpha,” I greet, leaning seductively against the door frame. He is staring so hard and itfuels my confidence. "You better close your mouth, you're starting to drool," I say playfully as hewalks toward me. "God, you look so good. Let's forget dinner. I'll have dessert right now,” He sayswith a wolfish grin. I laugh and meet him the rest of the way, swaying my hips seductively. "Let's go,Mr. Alpha,” I say in an alluring voice, grabbing his hand and leading him to the door.

He opens the door to his car and helps me in before walking over to his side. We drive to a placedowntown and pull up to the valet. Malachi comes to open my door and hands the keys to theworker. As we walk into the restaurant, he places his hand on the small of my back, and it sendsshivers down my spine. The host takes us to our seat, and we sit across from each other. The waitercomes to the table, ready to take our drink orders. "We will have two glasses of red wine," Malachitells the waiter. "Um, I'll just have water, please,” and I look at Malachi. I can't tell him yet. "Sorry, I'mstill not feeling well," I say as an excuse. "It's okay, Luna," Malachi says.

When we finish our dinner, Malachi turns to me. "Chloe, is everything okay? You seem likesomething is bothering you?" he inquires. “I'm sorry. I just don't feel like myself lately. Maybe it'sbecause of all that's happened.” I tell him. "If something's wrong, you would tell me, right?" Hequestions. "Yes, Malachi. I promise,” I mumble, "but I do need to tell you that I'm leaving for NewYork to visit my sister at the end of this week,” I inform him. "Do you want me to come with you?"He asks. "I would love for you to come, but I think with my niece being pregnant, it might be a badtime to introduce my boyfriend to my family. I think it might hurt Kali," I admit, hoping heunderstands. "Okay, Luna, but one day, we will go together so I can meet them." He states.

"Of course, I see us together for a long time,” I say, smiling. "That's good because I asked you heretonight for a particular reason,” He says looking at me with a smile. While I'm waiting for him to askme something, I watch him get on one knee, bringing a small box out of his pocket. I gasp, holdingmy hand over my mouth in shock. "Chloe, I want you to be by my side always, and I want to make alife with you. Will you do me the honor of being my wife?" He asks with love in his eyes. "Yes! Ofcourse, I will," I say, crying. He stands from his knee, picking me up and I wrap my arms around hisneck. I squeal as he spins me around. Then the whole restaurant, cheers!

We walk out of the restaurant holding hands and I can't keep my eyes off Malachi, and he notices."You made me the happiest man in the world; you know that?" He declares with a smile. "Oh, I'mabout to make you a lot happier once we get to the car.” I say and watch his eyes go wide. "Oh,really,” He asks with a smirk and starts driving. "Pull over," I tell Malachi when we get a few blocksaway. So, he does. "What's wrong?” He asks. I don't even say anything, and just crawl over theconsole to sit on his lap. He seems surprised.

"You weren't kidding, were you Luna?"

"Nope..."
