After the introduction, we headed to our table, filling in the two vacant seats prepared beforehandby the Wind Winders Wolf Pack. As I sauntered down the stage, I felt as though my heart wasfreaking ready to jump out of my chest when I stood in front of that large crowd of ten differentpacks looking up scrutinizing me.There was a loud, ringing sound reverberating through myeardrums as I walked side by side with Alexander, his strong, calloused hand clasping mine so tightas he led me straight to our table. At one point, my eyes wandered to my old pack’s.

It's them,’ Ares growled lowly, spotting Barbara and Paula boring holes at my chest, glaring at mewith eyes full of jealousy and hatred as they watched Alexander tug at my hand softly.

Something was not right. I could feel Ares pace back and forth inside my head as though she wasdesperate for air. Suddenly, a low grow! erupt from my chest. I shot my eyes up then towards mysurroundings, thankful it was not heard by anyone due to the background noise of people talking,laughing, wine glass clinking, as well as the upbeat music playing while some teens glided to rockthe dance floor showing off their moves.

There were eight pairs of alphas and lunas from different packs who joined our table not long afterwe were seated. All alphas were seated on the left side of the table. On the other hand, all lunasgathered on the right where I was blended right into, still with Alex on my left and me on his right.Although he had introduced them to be before they were seated, I could barely remember thenames of each one.

Meanwhile, Alex was busy entertaining the other pack alphas that gathered around our tabletonight. While I quietly listened to their lunas gossip even as they tried to include me in theconversation.

"So, how did you and Alpha Alexander meet?" The woman with sunflower blonde hair asked, almosttoo enthusiastically that I felt myself cringe.

I racked my brain to replace a good excuse as an answer to the luna's question.

"Oh uhm we met back at my old pack” I said, plastering a forced smile on my face while I avoidedtheir curious gazes all over me.

"And how did you feel when you met him for the first time?"

My mind went blank for a second when the others suddenly began shooting me different questionsone after the other.

“That's good news!” Victor exclaimed. He obviously could not help grinning widely from ear to earas soon as he heard the curse is about to be fulfilled soon.

I chuckled inwardly, shaking my head.

There is no way I'm gonna let that happen. There is no way I'm gonna let him win. Not this time.“We had been dreaming for a perfect match for our daughter, and you came to us like a gift madeby the moon goddess herself,” This time it was my mother who spoke, and her fake, toxic voiceirked me more than I ever imagined. I couldn't bear to look at her now.

“Now that we are all here, let's eat!” Luna Savannah announced. They all nodded in agreement andstarted digging right in. Soon our eyes fully opened at the large set of hot, mouth-watering foodlaid on the table in front of us. Each looking just as delicious as the last.

Pursing my lips together, I heaved a deeper breath, trying to replace that inner peace that wouldenable me to breathe amongst the people I once trusted the most. Cherished and treated like myown family ever since I could remember. Only to betray me and leave me in the lion's den. Theybroke me, deprived me of everything that were once mine, treated me like a punching bag thenthrew me to their enemy thinking it would help fulfill their own selfish desires.

Ares couldn't stop twisting and turning while we ate in front of them, and I felt the tension risinginside my body when I suddenly felt Alex press his large palm over the top of my hand under thetable as he continued to speak, making my cheeks blush and heart hammer repeatedly against mychest, I felt like I 've forgotten how to breathe.

I glanced at his side profile, distracting me from my focus on my old pack.

He curled his fingers, gripping my hand beneath the table as he let out deep chuckles in responseto the compliments the different alphas as well as other high-ranking werewolves throw his way.Mostly about me, and I wished they could talk about something other than me in their wholeconversation.

Alex didn't withdraw his hand as we sat in front of the table, eating, drinking, and discussingamongst ourselves while the other pack members minded their business from a far distance.

My nerves immediately acted up as I caught sight of Barbara together with her new circle of friends.I swept my eyes across the entire group, replaceing no Sabrina within eyesight. No sign of herpresence, no scent, no nothing at all

Her absence instantly made me wonder, where the hell is she?

Clearing my throat, I pushed my chair backwards and excused myself to the bathroom. Victor andSandra acted completely unaware of me leaving the table, whereas Alexander clutched my knee alittle tighter as though he was about to escort me to the bathroom. I chuckled to myself beforethrowing a glance at Alex's face staring back at me, etched with genuine concern.

I touched Alex's hand softly and he snapped his eyes towards me in one split second. Curving mylips into a smile, I leaned forward to whisper in his ear, "Let me go, Alex. I'll be back before youknow it."

He stared at me the with the same concerned expression on his face for a few more momentsbefore he sighed and nodded in response. I felt him release my hand and I got up, making my waytowards the bathroom quietly, fully aware of the people's watchful gazes penetrating me from afar.I exited the hall and as I made my way towards the bathroom, I accidentally bumped myself into alarge wall of rock-hard muscle, making me stumble backwards until my butt landed on the floorwith a painful thud.

"Ow!" I groaned, rubbing my ass while I shifted my thighs slightly to the side.

That hurt!

"Sorry, I didn't look where I was going. Here,"

The sound of a male's voice made me open my eyes abruptly. Right now, there is a large handbeing held out in front of me, and I stared directly at it for a few seconds, blinking as I moved myeyes to his face.
