Chapter 17

Autumn

It was finally Friday and my birthday I woke up and jumped out of bed I was feeling overly excited this morning.

Once I was ready I hurried down the stairs when I was just about down to the living room I could smell breakfast. Quickly I hurried through to the kitchen where mom was making pancakes. sneaking up behind her I wrapped my arms around her hugging her.

I could tell by the way her body shook she must have screamed.

Just then Dad and Zach came busting through the back door. I started to laugh holding my stomach as she turned around shaking the spatula at me.

Dad walked of placing an arm around mom's shoulders all while trying not to laugh himself.

He looked at me "Happy Birthday," He signs to me.

Signing 'Thank you 'to him.

Zach came over hugged me then mouthed a happy birthday to me he went and sat at the table.

I moved to sit across from him while dad took the seat at the end mom placed all the food on the table we waited for her to sit down before filling our plates.

My phone buzzed against the table looking down I saw Kelly's message she was just down the street.

I pick my plate up putting it in the sink I quickly hugged my parents waving to Zach I grabbed my book bag and ran out the door.

Kelly was just pulling into the driveway I saw Brad driving again. Hopping into the back seat she turned to me.

"Happy Birthday" she signed

Smiling at her I thanked her then Brad looked back mouthing Happy Birthday as well.

The ride to school was quiet I could feel they had music playing.

Brad parked next to Oscar's car we all got out and walked to the front of Kelly's car I laid my bag on her hood and dug out my implant placing it on my ear.

Just as I slung my bag over my shoulder I was lifted off the ground and spun around. I let out a scream which sounded more like a dying bird squawking. My feet hit the ground I was facing Nick who was laughing as well as Kelly and Brad. I turned to see Oscar standing there smiling. I punched his arm while I started to laugh.

"Happy Birthday Autumn,"

"You scared the carp out of me! But thanks," I say to him.

He swung his arm over my shoulder as we all started walking toward the front doors.

"So Autumn your parents still having your party tomorrow?" Nick asked

Shaking my head,

"Yes, don't forget you guys are invited,"

"We will be there," Kelly says as we walk into the school.

My first few classes were with Oscar and Kelly so Nick and Brad said they see us at lunch. We went different ways

Reaching our class we go in found seats and waited for the teacher.

"Hey Autumn you want to hang out after school? Kelly asked me.

"You don't have your normal stuff to do?"

" Oh no, we don't today, you want to hit the mall?"

I smiled I haven't been anywhere here to check things out.

"Yes! I'd love to!" I say with so much excitement.

"Great we can shop till we drop!" She says causing both of us to bust out in laughter.

We continue to talk when there was a shadow that covered my desk. I glance up to see Dan standing there with that stupid smirk. "Hey, new girl,"

"What you want Dan!" Oscar asked while standing up from his seat.

"I was just saying hi to the new girl here,"

"Well she doesn't want to talk to you so why don't you leave,"

I could see Oscar's face was hard he was clenching his hand.

"Why don't you let her speak for herself,"

Dan starts to poke at Oscar.

Oscars took a step towards him but before he could say anything the teacher walked in.

"Mr. Cross, why are you in my class?"

Dan just smiled at Oscar and then turned to face the teacher. The teacher standing there with his arms folded across his chest. Oscar still stood next to me

"Mr. Cross leave my class right now and get to your own!" The teacher told him

He turned to look at me winking then walked back out of the classroom.

Oscar sat back down but he still looked pissed.

"Hey," I called while reaching out to touch his arm.

He looked at me he had that same look that Zach gets when he is mad.

"Calm down he's just trying to get to you,"

His face softens a bit.

The rest of the school day went by like a blur.

Now it was the end of the day and we were heading to the mall. I messaged mom to let her know where I was going and who I was with.

I was having a great time we had gone to so many stores trying on different outfits and laughing at the ugly ones.

The guys just groan when we would head into a different clothing store than Kelly wanted to go into a lingerie store and all three boys bolted off not wanting anything to do with it. I laughed seeing all their retreating backs. This was the first time I felt like a normal teenager.

"let's go get some food," Kelly signs to me while we were cashing out.

"Okay, Should we go replace the guys?" I signed back.

She shakes her head no then holds her phone up shaking it.

She grabbed her bag we turn to head out of the store.

She points to the elevator. I look at her

She hooks the bag on her elbow and then starts to move her hands.

"The food court is upstairs,"

"Oh okay," I say to her.

Hoping in we hit the button to go up when the doors open we start to look around for the guys Oscar stands waving at us.

Making our way to them they stood Brad took Kelly's bags setting them in the chair he grabbed her hand dragging her up to get food I walked with Oscar and Nick they were ahead of me while heading to the line I felt someone bump into my side. I then felt hands grab my shoulder. I glanced at what had hit me there stood a guy. He was super tall and dressed all in black he had dark brown hair and his eyes were green. He just had a very dark present.

"Sorry," mumbled.

He got a small smile.

"That's okay it was my mistake." I had to focus on his lips to be able to read them.

He c****d his head a little.

Suddenly Nick and Oscar were right by me.

Oscar spun me to face him.

"You okay" He mouthed.

Nodding my head.

"We bumped into each other," I said

I see Oscar look over my head don't look at the other guy he must have said something.

I see him do the Oh motion and bob his head.

He glanced back at me and then lifted his hands.

"Sorry for bumping you" He signed to me

I just nod my head.

"That's okay," I sign back.

"I don't think your boyfriend is too happy"

"Oh no, he's not my boyfriend we are all friends" I sign and explain.

He gets this big smile.

"Well then I'm not as sorry for bumping into you then," He gives me a wink and I feel my cheek turning pink.

Oh God don't embarrass yourself. I thought to myself.

"What's your name, pretty lady?"

"Autumn,"

"Such a pretty name for a pretty lady. They call me Roberts,"
