Chapter 51

Once the task was done, I leaned back in my chair, letting out a deep breath.

My heart was pounding so loudly that I could almost hear it echoing in the silence of the room.

The air felt heavy, and the dim light from the single lamp on the desk cast long, strange shadows on the walls.

The only sound breaking the stillness was the steady ticking of the clock on the wall, each tick growing louder in my ears,

I tried to calm myself, taking a moment to collect my thoughts, but my mind was racing, and my hands trembled slightly,

stas I was about to steady my breathing, the silence was interrupted by the soft, low creak of the door opening

My body froze, and my eyes darted to the door, half expecting something, or someone, to step into the room,

Silas stepped in, his expression soft. His eyes met mine, and before I could react, he crossed the room and pulled me into a tight embrace,

"I've waited for this day for so long," he murmured, his voice full of emotion.

His words were soft, but I could feel the weight behind them. "To have you here, finally with me," he said, his eyes fized on mine, as though he stil couldn't believe I was really there. "You don't know how much I've missed you, Lorelei." His voice trembled slightly as he said my name, and I could see the deep sadness in his eyes,

It was clear that he had been holding onto these feelings for a long time, and now they were pouring out.

He looked at me with such longing, like this moment was all he had been dreaming of for.

I froze for a moment, unsure of what to say. Silas pressed his forehead against mine, his hands cupping my face gently,

"I love you," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

Before I could say anything, he kissed me. His lips were warm and strong, and I could feel how much he wanted me.

My stomach flipped with a strange feeling. He gently pushed me backward, and I felt the bed behind me, the edge pressing against my legs.

Silas' hands moved to my shoulders, and it was clear what he wanted.

His touch was firm, but there was something soft about it, too..

I could feel his body close to mine, and my heart began to race as I realized how close we were,

"Silas..." I started, but my voice faltered.

He didn't stop. His lips trailed down my neck as he pushed me gently onto the bed. My breath quickened, not from passion, but from the panir bubbling inside me. Just as Silas was about to unbutton my dress, his phone rang. The sharp, piercing sound cut through the tension like a blade,

Silas hesitated, his brows furrowing in irritation as he reached for his phone on the bedside table.

I sat up, trying to steady my breathing as Silas unlocked his phone.

The moment his eyes landed on the screen, his entire demeanor changed. His body stiffened, and his face turned pale.

"What... What is this?" Silas whispered, his voice trembling.

Curious, I leaned over to see what had caused such a reaction.

My heart raced as I saw the image I had just sent-the photo of me lying in a pool of blood.

I gasped, feigning shock and fear. "Silas! Who is that? She... she looks like me!"

Silas' hands shook as he held the phone. His voice was barely audible when he spoke. "This... This is Rowena,"

I blinked, pretending not to understand. "Rowena? Who's Rowena?"

Silas sank onto the edge of the bed, his head in his hands. "Rowena was my mate... before. When we broke our bond, she she couldn't handle the pain, She died."

His voice cracked, and for a moment, I saw the guilt and sorrow in his eyes,

"Why would someone send this to me now?" he muttered, more to himself than to me,

I placed a hand on his shoulder, my voice trembling with false concern. "Silas, who could do something so cruel?"

He clenched his jaw, his eyes narrowing. "It has to be Lena. Who else would try to mess with me like this?"

I pretended to look surprised. "Lena? But... why would she do that?"

"She's jealous, bitter," Silas said, his anger rising. "She ruined the wedding today, and now she's trying to torment me with this.

She thinks she can hurt me, but I won't let her get away with it."

Silas stood abruptly, grabbing his jacket. His movements were quick, fueled by a simmering rage.

"Where are you going?" I asked, my voice laced with fake worry.

"To the hospital," Silas replied, his tone cold. "I'm going to settle this with Lena once and for all."

Before I could say anything else, he stormed out of the room, the door slamming shut behind him. 99.0%
