Chapter 62

Kyson’s POV

“They are suspicious.” I said to Nelson, but he didn’t give any response. We were standing near his car as he was going back to his pack. “We didn’t tell them about Crystal.” I said again and Nelson snapped his head towards me.

“I dare you to say one single word about that Kyson. I swear to Catherine, I will kill you,” he threatened me in a cold tone, and I scoffed. “Do you really think that we will keep this a secret for long, huh? We know that they are intelligent enough to figure this out very soon,” I almost yelled at him angrily this time.

“I know that but have you thought about the consequences, huh? She is just eighteen years old. She already has so many things on her plate to deal with. Keep her away from the truth as long as possible,” he yelled back, making me widen my eves in disbelief. “Above all, we don’t know if she is infected or not. So, let’s not talk about this for the time being,” he continued in a very low tone.

I rubbed the area between my brows while closing my eyes. “I need to leave now. Thomas informed me that they spotted some hybrids in a nearby area,” he told me walking towards the door of his car. “I don’t need to say anything, but I still want to say.” I said to him from behind. He stopped, and I saw his grip tighten on the edge.

of the door.

“Take care of her,” I said, and his jaw immediately clenched. “She is also my mate, Kyson. You don’t need to remind me.” He said in a cold tone, making me sigh internally. I stepped away and watched him leave the pack with his warriors. To keep Killian safe from Marcus, and an unknown enemy, we never revealed this truth, but it was the bitter truth of lif

that Catherine was both mated to me and

Nelson.

I looked at the blank space in front of me while thinking about the day when I met Catherine for the first time. It was a shock for both Catherine and me when we found out that we were mates. Nelson was my best friend, and we had known each other all our lives. I knew how much Nelson loved Catherine, and like others. I also believed that they would be mates.

Their pack was under frequent attacks after her sixteenth birthday, when she shifted for the first time. She was an early shifter. She was a white wolf with black paws and a black ring around her n*eck. She couldn’t be counted as a white wolf, but the rumours spread rapidly, and hence they faced so many attacks from an unknown enemy. Marcus was not the only one, but someone else also wanted to kill her.

Wed,

Catherine’s father tried to sell her to an unknown alpha when she reached her age, and this was when our lives became a chaos of misfortune. She recognized Nelson. as her mate, but her father made her reject him. However, Nelson never accepted the rejection, nor did Catherine’s wolf, Moon. They could still feel the sparks. between them, and they were hopeful that the bond would be repaired one day. They hid it from everyone as they didn’t want to give any false hope to their pack members. They were the perfect alpha pair who put their packs above them.

And then our lives turned upside down in the annual ball. We were shocked and shattered. Catherine and Nelson came to meet my father at that time to discuss the security plan for their pack. The attacks were so frequent that they didn’t have time to cope with them. It was my father who asked Nelson, and Catherine to keep their mate bond a secret until we replace that unknown enemy. Catherine protested, but Nelson somehow made her agree with the plan.

We announced to the world about us being mates. I couldn’t deny that I loved Catherine so much at a later time. She was a perfect mate. I had to share her with Nelson, but I had no problem with that. Nelson didn’t come between us, but it was me who was chosen as her second mate. To avoid the attacks on The Night Crawl Pack, my father proposed the plan of faking rivalry between Catherine and Nelson. The plan worked, but it broke both Catherine, and Nelson.

I still remembered those days when I saw Catherine crying silently for Nelson. My queen sacrificed her happiness for the world. After Killian’s birth, both I and Nelson agreed to form a secret team of security to keep Killian safe from any danger. Nelson did everything to keep Killian safe. No one knew, but he was the head of that security team, and I didn’t know how many times he got injured whenever Killian was attacked. Killian was not his son, yet he fulfilled all the responsibilities of a father.

“Kyson.” I moved my head, coming out of my trance, when I heard Damon calling me in a low tone. I sighed and looked at him blankly. “It’s already late. You should. go to sleep now,” he said to me in a worried tone. I smiled bitterly while looking at the Moon. “She is still in danger out there. Can I sleep peacefully?” I asked him in a bitter tone, still keeping my gaze on the Moon. I missed my mate so much.

She will be back soon, Kyson, but we must be prepared for the war coming our way,” he replied to me in the same calm tone. I took a deep breath and lowered my head in defeat. “Let’s go,” I said to him, and then we both walked inside the palace. We still didn’t know who was behind Marcus, and why he wanted to kill Catherine, Killian, and Crystal. We only knew one thing that we had to keep our pups safe from that person.

Nelson’s P.O.V.

“Attacks on both the Blood Moon Pack, and the Crescent Moon Pack are just a façade to lure Crystal out of the Royal Pack. Crystal’s brother, the present alpha of the Blood Moon Pack, William Spears, killed all the hybrids mercilessly, with all the rogues backing them up at the time of the attack. I don’t want to say it, but Crystal got her intelligence from her adoptive parents. She and her brothers are far better strategists than you, Nelson,” Thomas finished his report, and I glared hard at him.

“What? I am stating the truth. Not only you, but our king also lacked this ability. The way she managed to save all her warriors during the first attack, I can say that she didn’t inherit this ability from you or the king,” he continued, making me balled up my fists tightly on my lap. “Shut up, Thomas,” I scolded him, and he scoffer

He then moved his head in front of the car. It was completely dark outside, but I knew my enemies very well. I was still under vigilance, but it didn’t scare me anymore. Both Killian and Crystal had so many people around them who would do anything to keep them safe. My only desire was to see Catherine wake up before I die. “Who is assigned to keep an eye on both Killian and Crystal?” I asked him when I remembered that he hadn’t told me anything about the security team. that we left outside the Royal Pack.

“Uhhhh… I was about to tell you,” he said with a bit of hesitation, and all the lines on my forehead immediately straightened up. “Thomas… Who is leading the team?” I asked him in a cold tone this time. “I didn’t do anything. It’s Cynthia who demanded to be the leader of the team,” he defended himself, and I growled aloud in anger.

“Relax, Alpha. She is much more capable than you think. She wants to prove herself and let her do this. She is no less a warrior than me,” he said again, and I felt like beating the s**t out of me. Cynthia was his daughter, and she was only nineteen years old. I was thinking of handing over the pack after me to her and her mate. She hadn’t found her mate yet, but she had plenty of time in the future to replace her mate.

“You don’t need to worry much about her. I will come back, and replace her as soon as I leave you inside the pack,” Thomas said in a calm tone, but I kept on glaring at him. It was not like I had any doubt about Cynthia’s ability as a warrior. She was dear to me like a daughter. How could I be at ease when my daughter was playing with danger out there?

“Did you replace anything about Marcus’s partner?” I asked him after calming myself down. Thomas sighed aloud this time but didn’t look at me. He was sitting in the passenger’s seat. “Not yet, but we got a whiff that Marcus is planning to send Adam

to that man. Adam is still weak and needs intense training to be the lethal weapon that they want him to be,” he answered me in a serious tone.

I scoffed and looked outside the window. “Ask our spies to stay vigilant all the time, and don’t need any information, even if it is irrelevant to us. We don’t know what information comes in handy at the time of the emergency,” I instructed Thomas, still having my eyes outside the window. Suddenly, my wolf, Kai, growled aloud at the back of my mind, indicating that he sensed an unwanted presence around us.

“Relax, Kai, we will have our fun later,” I calmed him, but he didn’t stop growling. He hate

killing hybrids because they were once our brothers. They were the result of a maniac’s evil mind, but we didn’t have a choice but to kill them to keep ourselves safe. Some of these hybrids were vampires in original but were forced to get injected with werewolf blood serum. The whole process was painful for both

vampires, and the werewolves, but who could make that maniac understand this vampires, and the werewolves, bu small fact? I knew this because I had gone through that pain so many times in the past eighteen years.

“We have been stalked, alpha,” Thomas said in an alert tone after some time. “Let them keep us accompanied, Thomas. We had a long way to home, and it would be boring and exhausting if we don’t have something to entertain ourselves in our way,” I replied to him carelessly and leaned my head back on the backrest. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

All these years, Marcus has supplied me with the vampire serum. He said that it would make my wolf stronger. He was not wrong, though. True to our treaty, he never did anything to hurt me, or my pack members after that alliance. However, I didn’t take those injections all the time but kept on injecting Catherine. Marcus injected Catherine with the vampire serum when she was in his captivity. She escaped in the middle of that experiment, which caused her coma state. Her wolf was also in a deep sleep, and that was why, she needed these injections to stay alive.

She needed a regular dose of vampire serum to keep her b*dy functioning properly. I was now also a hybrid, but I was not what that maniac was making. I was different from them, or, in other words, more powerful and stronger than them with my humanity intact. My only rival could be Adam, as he was also an alpha. The only advantage that I had here was that my wolf was still with me, and he endured everything all these years for the sake of our mate, Catherine.

Thomas also started taking those injections a few years ago so that he could be ready for the war. His father was gamma, but I made him my beta after taking over the pack. He was the only one who knew the whole truth. He was the only one who witnessed my misery, and always stayed beside me, giving me a shoulder to cry on

and strength whenever I lost hope.

“Don’t sleep, alpha….. we have a party to attend now,” I smirked when Thomas said it in a cold tone. We also had a thirst for blood from time to time, but both I and Thomas fed ourselves on vampires‘ blood. This was why we were both different from others. I opened my eyes lazily when the car stopped. Everyone, let’s have your fills tonight, but stay alert,” I instructed all the warriors behind me in five cars.

“Let’s have our meal, Thomas,” I said to Thomas, and he grinned widely while showing his fangs. I smiled too, while showing my fangs. “Let me have my fun. later.” Kai demanded while salivating, and I just hummed in response while opening the door of the back seat.
