Chapter 86

Theo’s P.O.V. (Continued)

I looked at Adam, who had a painful expression on his face right now. Our eyes met, and he immediately averted his eyes. He knew what I wanted to ask, but I didn’t know how to approach him right now. It was a sensitive topic.

“I injected her with a sedative to relax her heart, Alpha. She will sleep for a few hours, but she will be okay in a few minutes.” Bernard informed me in a calm. tone. I took a deep breath while nodding to him, and I closed my eyes again. “Thunder.” I called him with a concerned tone.

“I am tired.” He complained in a tired tone. “Rest for a while. We may need our strength once again.” I instructed him. He didn’t respond to me this time and retreated deep inside my mind. I slowly opened my eyes after some time. I was now relaxed, a bit exhausted, but relaxed.

“I know that it will be a cruel thing to ask you, son, but only you can explain this right now.” My father spoke to Adam in an apologetic tone. His Adams Apple bobbed up and down quickly. The pain in his face darkened.

“What happened to her mother?” he asked in a painful tone. He was trying to mask his emotions, but it was hard for him right now. My father took a deep breath and looked at us before looking back to him once again.

“We learned that her mother, our queen, Catherine, has been in a coma state for more than eighteen years in Marcus’s captivity. We assumed that she sl*pped into a coma state right after giving birth to Crystal. He had already started experimenting on her before Crystal’s birth, but we didn’t know if she had transformed by that time, or not.” My father explained to him the whole situation briefly.

He nodded and looked at Crystal with a painful expression. There was a tense silence in the room for a good few minutes. I was still looking at Adam, trying to figure out his thoughts and hatred towards Crystal.

“She was labelled as the happiest child of the pack by her classmates in high school. Her… her life was a perfect life th.. that a child can imagine for her or him.” Adam broke the silence in a daze and started telling us about Crystal’s teenage days back then.

What did she do wrong, Dad, that she has to go through so much pain?” Adam

asked his dad in a choked tone this time. “What I did was a mistake on my end, but why is The Moon Goddess making her bear so much pain, Dad?” he asked again in the same tone. I looked at Alpha Adrian, and his expression softened towards him this time.

“I know this pain. If her mother’s wolf is really inside her all these years, and now she is trying to leave her b*dy, she has to go through this pain again until she leaves her b*dy.” He said further in the same tone, and I gasped in shock and horror along with others.

“I… I was alone and helpless when… when Neo left me after I.. I was banished. I.. I felt like dying…as… as if someone h.. has ripped my soul out of my b*dy. I… I went through th.. that pain because of my own stupidity, but… wh.. what about her? What did she do wrong?” He explained what he suffered back then. The pain in his voice was enough to tell that he regretted what he did back. then, but the past couldn’t be changed.

“We need to call an urgent meeting with everyone. There must be something to ease her pain.” Alpha Adrian muttered under his breath. “You’re right, Alpha Adrian. Call a meeting now, and send a request to Nelson too.” I instructed him in a calm tone, and he nodded..

“Wait… I. I guess I … I missed something.” Adam suddenly yelled in a panicked. tone as his eyes widened in horror. “What is it, Adam?” Alpha Adrian asked him immediately in a stern tone. “Marcus… The Vampire King… he… he told. me a few hours before I escaped from his captivation that he was going to attack the Royal Pack in two days. For how long I was out?” he recalled while moving his now red eyeballs frequently with a panicked expression in his eyes. “You were out for a whole day, Adam.” Alpha Adrian answered him in a stern tone again. “It means that he will attack at any time soon after midnight.” My father spoke in a serious tone this time. “We need to inform Killian,” I muttered, taking my phone out of my pocket. “I am informing others.” Alpha Adrian muttered in an angry, low tone.

I dialed Killian’s number while looking at Adam. He slowly walked to the bed and sat down on the edge of the bed near her feet. Mom had covered her to her chest. I kept my eyes on him, as I still didn’t trust him that much.

“Hey, Theo.” Killian greeted me in a cheerful tone as soon as he picked up the call. Marcus is going to attack the Royal Pack in a few hours, Killian,” I informed him in a hurried tone, leaving all the formalities behind. What?

What are you talking about?” he yelled immediately, making me move the phone a little farther from my ears.

I put the phone back on my ear when I didn’t hear his voice again. “Adam told us that Marcus told him about this attack two days ago,” I told him about the

us.”

information that Adam gave us. “There is a mole in the Royal Pack… I.. don’t know much about him, but he will help them infiltrate the pack.” Adam

suddenly spoke in a bit of a loud tone.

I sighed and heard Killian gasp on the other side of the phone call. “You heard him, Killian,” I said to Killian in a low tone this time. “Let me secure the pack first, Theo. I will call you if something happens tonight.” Killian answered me in a cold tone, before hanging up.

I put the phone back in my pant pocket while standing up from the chair. “Theo.” My Mom yelled when I stumbled lightly as my head spun a little. “I am okay, Mom… don’t worry.” I immediately comforted her with a smile. She looked at me worriedly, and I saw tears in her eyes. Luna Elena was still holding her in her embrace.

I slowly walked to the bed and sat down on the edge beside her near her chest. Alpha Adrian requested a room on the other side of the pack house. My parents also shifted with them as they wanted to give me and Crystal privacy on our floor. I wanted to take her back to our room, but I didn’t know if it would be a good idea or not.

“Why did she save me?” Adam asked me in a low tone after some time. At the same time, Alpha Adrian came back into the room. “I informed everyone about the attack.” He told me and I nodded in response. “Did they ask about Crystal?” I asked him in a calm tone. “No… I just warn them about the attack, and ask them to stay alert.” He answered me.

I am leaving the security plan on you, and Dad for the time being, Alpha Adrian. I guess I need to stay with Crystal until she comes over this pain.” I said to him, and he nodded. “You don’t worry about the pack, son. We got this.” Dad said this to me in a calm tone, and I passed a weak smile to both of them. “Let’s go.” Alpha Adrian said to my father, and both of them walked out of the room together. They were a good team, and despite having the same title, they listened to each other’s instructions with all their sincerity.

I looked back at Adam, who now had a confused expression on his face. “Which question do you ask me to answer first?” I asked him in a calm tone.

He looked at Crystal and then back at me.

“Why did she save me?” he asked me again, the same question that he asked. me earlier. “Because she didn’t want to leave you there for a long time. You are still a part of her family.” I answered him truthfully. This was the same. explanation that she gave me when I asked her the same question. His eyes. once again widened in shock.

“In the beginning.. yes… I blame her for all my miseries…. Later… in his captivity, I realized that I brought this on myself. We were good friends and had a healthy relationship before I left the pack. I… I don’t know what made me so changed there that I became so selfish and ambitious. I … I still blame. her for accepting my rejection without giving a fight… But… I can’t blame her for not telling me about her wolf. After listening to the reason for the rejection, no wolf in the sane mind will tell a selfish person like me about something that important,” he answered me in a bitter tone, still having hist eyes on Crystal.

“Believe it or not, Adam, but she forgave you a long time ago. She had been gathering all the information that could be helpful in your rescue all this time. I… I don’t know how she reached that guard, but after weighing all the pros. and cons of this rescue mission, she still decided to take this risk. I continued, and he gulped hard while looking at me with the same expression of shock.

“What do you want me to do now?” he asked the next question in a low tone. I smiled bitterly this time. I didn’t want him to see around Crystal, but this was not my position to decide. “You are not a prisoner here, Adam. It’s not like you. came here for the first time,” I replied to him in a low tone, but I felt that the bitterness that I was trying to mask sl*pped a little.

“But this time, it’s different, Theo,” he murmured in a low tone. “You are still a part of our extended family, Adam. This is what Crystal thinks about you. Now, it’s all up to you to take things forward from here. Surely, I have my guard up against you because of what you did to Crystal, but deep down in my heart, I know that you are not a bad person.

After listening to his confession a while ago, I now knew that he was also regretting his actions back then, but I had my doubts about him. “I don’t know what made you so changed, but you are still the same Adam that I know from the past.” I tried to comfort him this time while looking at my mate who was now looking better than earlier.

There was silence in the room as none of us said anything for a good few

minutes. I welcomed this silence because it gave me the time to think about so many things too. Mom and Luna Elena had already gone to take care of the pack matters with their mates. “Can’t your wolf come back?” I asked him in a low and cautious tone after some time, breaking the silence.

He didn’t answer me, making me glance at him over my shoulder as I had my back towards him now. He was trying hard to mask his pain, but I could see that it was unbearable for him. I stood up from the bed and went near him. I didn’t know why I did it, but I put his head on my chest. Suddenly, he sobbed aloud, making my heart tremble for him. He broke down in front of me and gripped the side of my shirt tightly. I didn’t say anything to comfort him; I just kept on stroking his head lightly while looking at Crystal’s face.

Theo and I were not best friends, but we were friends back then. It was nothing but the comfort given by a friend to the other to ease his pain, but I felt his pain inside my chest too. I couldn’t even think of a single second of my life without Thunder and Crystal. After seeing Crystal’s condition a few minutes earlier, I couldn’t even imagine how he managed to survive back then when his wolf left him. This was the cruelest punishment that he bore for hist crime.

“I ruined everything for me, Theo…. I ruined everything…. I… I lost everything…. My… my parents… my friends… my mate… my pack….. my wolf….. Everything…. Wi… will they ever accept me again?” he wailed while sharing his pain with me. I didn’t know the answer to his question for others, but I knew the answer from Crystal’s perspective.

I don’t know about others, Adam… but you have me and Crystal now. You still t you have me and Crystal now. You still have your mother with you. You….. You are not alone.” I comforted him in at low tone, still looking at Crystal’s face blankly. I didn’t know if he was still holding his grudge against us or not, but I needed to trust Crystal’s decision to bring him here.
