Loki's POV

The war had been an eye-opener for so many for me, my brothers, and everyone in the pack. We learnt the hard way that we were not invincible as we once thought we were and a formidable force of many packs was enough to bring us to our knees.

To set things right in their pack, I knew I had to start by healing the land which had seen so many deaths within the past 12 hours. So many families had lost their loved ones and there was hardly any family that hadn't been thrown into mourning. I had also lost my father in the war and even though we hadn't seen eye to eye during the last few months before his death, he was my father even though his methods had been something I utterly detested, I guess he had loved every one of us in his own sick, twisted way and now, he was gone. The Alpha was gone too and my brothers and I were the only ones left to carry on the legacy of the Van Tyson pack and restore its former glory.

It might come as a shock to many people but the last thing I wanted to do was carry out a revenge war to avenge the deaths in our pack, there would be any need for it. We could use that time to heal and reflect on lives lost and create new bonds with family and loved ones instead of going out into battle to die again.

Maybe someday, we would take our revenge but not right now, not when our pack is in disarray.

"What do we do now, Loki?" Jonathan began. "It's pretty evident that the mantle of leadership now falls upon the three of us but you're the eldest and we will follow whatever you suggest."

"We need to heal the land first and get to work rebuilding everything that was lost or destroyed during the war."

Jonathan nodded. "That seems like a brilliant idea but how do we go about it now? Emotions are high and morales are pretty much rock bottom. We've never been hit this bad in the history of the Van Tyson pack, so it might leave people feeling worried about how vulnerable we have now become."

"Being vulnerable isn't a bad thing, Jonathan. I turned to face him. "Not anymore, it isn't. We've had the feeling of being untouchable for a long time and it has made us ruthless and without any regard for life. Don't get me wrong, I hate the fact that we've lost so many lives that might never be replaced but what we've gotten in return is a chance to turn a new leaf, to start over. We've got to make the best of it this time around."

"You're speaking like a true Alpha now," Elijah chuckled this time, forcing them to break into a much-needed bout of laughter, Arielle included.

"We've got to step up, this is a pivotal moment in our history and a delicate one. Our future hangs in the balance and it rests on us to navigate the pack through these troubled waters." I began again. "So when we're done, I'd like us to round up every living person left in the pack. We have to address the flock as fast as we can. The people need a leader right now and they're fortunate to have three."

"They would want revenge," Arielle cut in, forcing us to turn her attention to her. I had it in mind to address her as well but I'd like to hear her out first. "I could see their faces when I made my way into the mansion, I could see grief and pain, but what was on everyone's faces was revenge. I could see it in their eyes, they're banking on you three to lead them into battle."

"That wouldn't be happening," I assured her. "First, we rebuild and then we heal, that's our priority right now." I ended with a note of finality.

Arielle nodded. "That wouldn't be a bad idea either. I guess we need it more than we need to go out into battle now."

"And on that note, I'd like to start with you," I replied.

"What do you mean?" Arielle asked.

"If we have decided to patch everything up, we've got to start from our home and that means with you. We've not seen eye to eye on several things since you returned to the pack and we've had quite our fair share of differences but I want us to put all of that behind us now since we're going to start all over, we've got to do it the right way for all our benefits."

"It took me a long time but I eventually decided that it wasn't worth fighting with you three anymore. I nearly lost my child when I was blinded by rage and revenge and losing what I cherish the most for a moment's feeling of undiluted joy wasn't a trade I would ever willingly make again. I know I shouldn't be saying this but I can't help but feel guilty at how things have turned out to be. If I hadn't ruined your coronation, we wouldn't be in this mess right now. Klaus would never have been made Alpha and I'm certain that under your leadership, this war wouldn't have happened and I'm sorry for everything I've put your pack through. It wasn't my intention and if there's any way to make up for it, I'll pay the price."

I shook my head, there wasn't any price to pay. At least, not anymore.

"My brothers and I also wronged you by treating you the way we did. If only we had been strong enough to stand up to our father when he wanted us banished the first time, everything that has happened might not have been the same way but there isn't any need to dwell on the past anymore. We'll make sure to make amends between yourself and our child over everything that has happened."
