Rushing over, Willy saw a chaotic and crowded scene as he looked up. He cringed in his heart and furrowed his brows slightly. However, he turned and made his way over to Vanessa.

"Mom, why didn't you tell me that you are coming over?"

It really caught him off guard!

Vanessa glanced at Willy and her face changed suddenly, "Oh, so I have to make an appointment in advance if I want to visit my son. Mr Bowles..."

Her voice was strange, full of sarcasm and displeasure.

What was the matter with Vanessa? Why did she react in such a way? Willy saw that Vanessa was dressed extravagantly, completely different from the casual attire she usually wore. He could roughly figure out what was happening. One wouldn't suddenly approach someone without a purpose. Moreover, she came prepared.

"I wouldn't dare."

Willy said as he chuckled. He then walked up and held Vanessa by the shoulders, "You are my beloved mother. You will always be welcomed."

As Willy hugged Vanessa, he whispered in her ear, "Mom, there are so many people watching. Please don't embarrass me."

He moved a little closer, and Vanessa's aura weakened somehow. Nevertheless, she grunted, "Hmph..."

"Mom, it's messy in here. Be careful not to get your clothes dirty. Let's go out and talk."

Willy coaxed Vanessa as he got her out of the spot, being rarely courteous to her. Throughout the whole conversation, he did not look at Lauren even once, or talked to her at all. It was as if she did not exist.

Vanessa reluctantly turned around under Willy's persuasion and said, "You're always like this, only know to flatter me..."

How could she not know what was on his mind?

Vanessa rolled her eyes and pinched his arm forcefully. Letting out a quiet grunt, Willy could only look at her pitifully and mouth after a while,

"It hurts..."

Seconds later, another harder pinch fell on his arm.

Willy could only contort his face in pain and clenched his teeth hard that time.

At the corner of the doorway, he stared coldly at the butler, hinting him.

Lauren's heart went cold. Although she didn't expect herself to be paired with Willy, but she never expect that it would turn out the way it did. From the start to the end, she hadn't spoken a single word and he did not mention about her either.

Looking at the broken plates on the ground, she put her hands on her belly, her nose wrinkled as she felt like crying, and unconsciously, tears already filled Lauren's sight.

Her child was belittled and neglected even before it was born. Did that mean her life was going to be a tragedy from then on?

Lauren was broken-hearted at that moment, and couldn't stop herself from overthinking that matter at hand. So naturally, she didn't know that Willy's cold and heartless reaction towards her moments ago was the wisest move, and it was to effectively protect her and the baby for the longest time possible.

As soon as Willy and Vanessa left the dining room, the butler said, "What are you all doing standing here still? Hurry up and clean up."

He waved his hands, and a woman behind him who looked slightly aged walked over to Lauren and asked anxiously as she held her up, "Miss, are you all right?"

Lauren was afraid that she couldn't hold her tears back any longer, so all she could do was to purse her lips and shake her head.

She had been deeply shamed then and would really hide herself in a corner if she could. Thus, she continued to keep her head down.

Lauren was experiencing the hurt and despair that she had never experienced before as she thought to herself, "It seemed that no matter where I am, I hold no value of importance!"

All those while, she hadn't had any high expectations. Even though she was pregnant then, she did not have any expectations that Willy would treat her differently. However, never had she thought that a day would come that she would be humiliated like that. It felt like her heart was being stabbed by a sharp knife at its weakest spot.

At that point, only did the butler speak up.

"Miss Heady, don't take it to heart! Madam Vanessa is sharp- tongued but soft-hearted. Perhaps she didn't understand the situation and therefore misunderstood something! I will first arrange a servant's room for you. I'm sorry to have yourest there first, but it's just in case you have a conflict with Madam Vanessa again if you see her."

Looking up, Lauren tried to smile, but she almost choked on her tears. She shook her head, and spoke. Her voice sounded hoarse.

"No need, thank you... I'll have a walk in the yard and see Tutu..."

She had come that day to celebrate her research success with Willy. She had planned everything carefully but didn't expect that Vanessa's arrival would spoil her plans and mood before any of those could even begin! There couldn't be any day that was worse than that day!

However, as Lauren thought of the

formula, she felt a sense of relief too then, as if she was going to be freed completely. Whether it was for the good or for bad, her gut feeling told her that the outcome of her sudden relationship with Willy was getting clearer, and was about to come to an end. Just like the baby that she was going to give birth to soon and the results she already obtained from the research she did, it could be a proper closure for both of them.

Lauren's eyes swept across the dining room and her gaze fell on the stove in the kitchen. Lauren's lips slightly twitched.

Luckily, the pot of broth was still available for Tutu. At least, not all of her efforts had gone to

waste.

She scooped up some of the soup and walked out of the kitchen. Even if she didn't go through the front door, she still had to pass through the living room corner. Lauren's footsteps were light as she walked. Her heart was still thudding hard in her chest. Moments later, a pleasant laugh could be heard, "Really?"

"You didn't lie to me, did you?"

Unconsciously, Lauren glanced over. She saw Willy and Vanessa sitting together on the couch. They were talking in low voices. It was hard to hear what they were talking about, but it was obvious that Vanessa looked very happy.

Fortunately, the two of them were sitting with their backs facing her. Without attracting anyone's attention, she walked swiftly to the side door.

She glanced at them again unconsciously. Vanessa was nodding her head while drinking coffee. Occasionally, she would poke Willy. Even with just a glance, Lauren could tell how happy she was. Seeing their close and relaxed gestures, Lauren knew that the relationship between the mother and son duo was good.

Her heart sank as she looked at them enviously.

Suddenly, a firm voice sounded in her mind, "Never!"

Lauren fixed her eyes on Vanessa's face and her smile. What she heard next was very clear.

"Hmm, not bad... Then, I'm relieved!"

She patched together the fragments of words they said and the ignorant, cold attitude Willie had given her. She could roughly guess the content of their conversation.

Willie was most probably assuring Vanessa that he was just playing with Lauren and that he would never marry her!

She was also sure of one thing. Willie must have not told his family about her existence and her being pregnant with his child despite already being with him for over six months. As for her baby, she was afraid to even think about it! Lauren's mind was in a mess. She walked out into the garden and her heart sank all the more. The sky outside was dark and there were barely any stars illuminating the sky. It seemed that Lauren had stepped into a world of darkness. After walking for a short distance, Lauren made her way to the dog kennel. She fed the bone broth that was not so hot anymore to Tutu. That time, no one stopped her, so she took the dog out...
