Benson 138
Chapter 138 Trouble at the Ski Resort
When Benson heard from George that Yvonne and Jeremy had gone skiing, he immediately suspected Jeremy of having ill intentions.
“Someone who can’t ski but decides to go skiing is very suspicious,” he thought.
The unease in Benson’s heart grew stronger, like a taut string ready to snap.
Sure enough, the two of them tumbled down the slope, Benson stood by the edge of the ski trail, his heart racing and his palms sweating.
He took off his ski goggles and stared at Yvonne, who was lying in the snow, with a pale face, saying nothing.
Yvonne rolled over and struggled to get up, snowflakes glittering in her hair.
She brushed the snow off her body and asked with concern, “Are you okay?”
Her voice was slightly breathless, but her eyes showed worry.
“Are you okay? How could you use yourself as a cushion for someone else? That’s so dangerous!”
Benson said, frowning with a tone full of blame and concern. His serious expression and angry eyes made Yvonne somewhat confused.
This stem face was very familiar!
“Are
you hurt? Is everything okay?” Jeremy also asked her, his demeanor courteous and refined.
His voice was gentle and steady, showing care and concern.
Yvonne shook her head and smiled, “I’m fine. I managed to ease the fall, so it wasn’t that bad. The beginner slope isn’t very fast.”
She smiled reassuringly and stood up with the help of her ski pole.
Just as she steadied herself, a person in black and white ski gear came rushing towards them at high speed, making everyone around gasp.
Others on the slope stopped and watched in astonishment.
Yvonne squinted, the cold wind howling across the ski resort, blowing snowflakes into the air and blurring her vision.
She thought her skiing trip with Jeremy would be relaxing and enjoyable, but danger was suddenly right in
front of her.
The speed of the oncoming skier surprised Yvonne.
Instinctively, she wanted to pull Jeremy aside, but they were both constrained by their skis and couldn’t move quickly.
Luckily, just as they were about to collide, the skier stopped right in front of them, only the distance of their ski boards separating them.
The silence on the snowfield made the already tense atmosphere even more intense.
Yvonne frowned at the newcomer, feeling a mix of anger and helplessness. She hadn’t planned for such an unexpected situation.
Jeremy stepped forward protectively, “Sir, can you be more careful while skiing? What if you hurt

someone?”
Benson’s gaze seemed to ignore Jeremy, focusing entirely on Yvonne.
With a contemptuous tone, he said, “Sorry about that.”
His voice carried clear impatience, making it obvious that the apology was somewhat insincere.

Yvonne hadn’t expected to run into Benson at the ski resort. Her embarrassment was evident, and she waved it off lightly, indicating she accepted the apology.
“It’s fine.” Then she turned to Jeremy, as if trying to avoid the impending storm.
Benson’s anger flared up instantly, clearly displeased with Yvonne’s reaction.
His sharp eyes seemed to pierce through the thick snow, reaching the deepest part of her soul.
Jeremy, noticing the tension between Yvonne and Benson, couldn’t help but ask, “Do you know each other?”
His voice was sharp, trying to penetrate the mysterious fog between them.
Yvonne’s shoulders tensed slightly, she turned her head, her golden hair gently brushing her cheek.
She calmly replied, “Yes, a friend.”
Her tone was casual, as if trying to distance herself from a past she didn’t want to mention. But a complex emotion flashed in her eyes, indicating the relationship was not simple.
Benson stood nearby, his gaze never leaving Yvonne.
A barely noticeable mocking smile played on his lips, masking the turmoil within.
“Friend? Just yesterday…” he started, but Yvonne’s icy stare, like a cold north wind, made him lower his head and fall silent.
The surrounding air seemed to freeze, making the scene unbearably tense.
Yvonne sighed softly, her inner turmoil invisible to others.
She looked at Benson’s immature and helpless figure with a bit of pity.
She knew Benson had complex motives for being here, but this was not the confrontation she had expected.
At this moment, Jeremy gracefully walked over to Yvonne. His neat blond hair and handsome face appeared particularly gentle in the sunlight.
Thoughtfully, he shielded her from Benson’s confrontational gaze and said in a warm voice, “Although we are friends, staring at others like that is quite rude.”
Benson’s gaze became even deeper, his dark eyes resembling a sage who could foresee the future. He looked like a hunter before a duel, quietly watching his prey’s every move.
His eyes glimmered with a subtle light, both challenging and probing, making everyone present feel his hidden pressure.

The air seemed to grow heavier, and the sunlight reflecting off the surrounding snow became even glaring.
Just as the tense atmosphere was about to peak, Matthew approached, his steps hesitant, as if testing the ice with each step.
Despite the cold environment, light beads of sweat formed on his forehead.

“Bro, come over here for a moment.”
Matthew’s voice carried a hint of helplessness and much persuasion, his eyes full of concern.
He seemed to be trying to use gentle words to calm the silent confrontation and temporarily ease the complex emotions.
Next to him, Yvonne tugged on Jeremy’s sleeve, indicating it was time to leave.
“I’ll go now,” she said to Jeremy, her voice slightly trembling but trying to remain calm.
Then she turned to Benson, gave a friendly yet awkward nod, and quickly turned towards the ski resort exit, as if relieved.
Benson watched Yvonne’s departing figure with a complex look. A mix of unclear emotions rose in his heart, like melting snow, leaving him unsure if he felt disappointed or angry. This complex feeling made him restless and uneasy.
Jeremy softly apologized to Yvonne, “Miss Yvonne, I’m really sorry if our skiing today disturbed you.”
His voice was gentle, hoping to ease the tension.
Yvonne smiled lightly, revealing a row of neat teeth. Her smile was warm and understanding.
“It’s alright… Everything is fine.” Her tone was full of understanding and acceptance, as if no trouble could disturb her inner peace.
Yvonne and Jeremy’s figures gradually disappeared in the ski resort, but the turmoil in her heart seemed, far from over.
The scene returned to a moment of tranquility after they left.
Benson snorted coldly, clearly dissatisfied with how things ended, his heart still clouded.
Matthew noticed and turned back to look at the two who had just left.
After they walked away, he quietly asked Benson, “Who is that guy? He seems pretty high–level.”
