Chapter 149 The Interruption of Knocking
When Benson returned with the items, Yvonne was already asleep.
The bedroom was lit only by an orange essential oil humidifier, its warm light casting a gentle glow in every corner of the room.
Fine mist filled the air, and the scent of bitter orange made the entire room feel cozy and peaceful
Yvonne lay on her side on the bed, her long hair cascading over her
white shoulders.
From his angle, Benson could see her delicate nose and slightly flushed lips.
Benson sighed softly. He had never seen a sleeping beauty, but the woman before him was just as captivating asleep.
He still carried the chill from outside and mischievously kissed her
beautiful shoulder.
She flinched unconsciously but didn’t open her eyes.
He sat on the edge of the bed, quietly watching her. At this moment, his emotions were complex, filled with both love and a bit
of resentment.
How could she fall asleep in such an atmosphere?
After all, the atmosphere was so good just now. If it were up to him, he wouldn’t sleep no matter how tired he was; he would wait
for her.
He gently kissed her shoulder, his warm lips sliding over her cool skin with a mix of affection and helplessness.

His lips moved to her neck, softly rubbing against it, but she only frowned and tried to turn over.
Benson held her in place, looking down at her sleeping face. Her features were delicate as if sculpted, and her skin was like jade.
She wasn’t the sweet, harmless type of girl–next–door.
Perhaps because of the business world, she was strikingly beautiful and unforgettable.
But now, she was as obedient as a sleeping kitten.
He brushed her hair aside with his fingers and kissed her forehead, but in the end, did nothing more.
He sighed softly, a surge of complex emotions rising in his heart.
The next morning, Yvonne slowly woke up in the morning light, opening her eyes to see Benson with his back to her.
He sat on a bench at the foot of the bed, his fingers quickly sliding across his phone screen, seemingly sending messages.
His back was straight, his muscles defined, exuding strength.
Having just showered, water droplets still clung to his body, sliding down his well–defined physique and gleaming enticingly.
Yvonne was momentarily dazed. Coming to her senses, she sat up.
Benson, with a towel around his neck, turned to see her awake.
He smiled slightly, a hint of gentleness flashing in his eyes. Awake?”
Yvonne responded with a lazy “Oh,” her voice carrying the drowsiness of just waking up.

Benson seemed to finish his message, then dropped his phone. and climbed into bed.
As Yvonne tried to get out of bed, he grabbed her ankle, easily pulling her beneath him.
Her hair, black and shiny, spread out on the pillow like seaweed,
seductive and irresistible.
Benson captured her lips, kissing her while whispering, “I’ve been holding back all night.”
His voice was deep and hoarse, tinged with urgency and desire, as if long–suppressed emotions were erupting at this moment.
It was still early, so satisfying his craving wouldn’t be a problem. Her nightgown and his towel were discarded on the floor, and the room’s atmosphere became ambiguous and heated.
Just then, a gentle knock sounded, breaking the silence.
“Aunt Yvonne, are you awake? Are we still going for a walk this morning?”
Outside the door came the sweet, clear voice of little Emma, tinged with expectation.
Benson froze, not expecting Emma to be the one to spoil the
moment so early in the morning.
He lifted his head from Yvonne’s embrace, his tone carrying a hint of impatience.
“No walk, very busy, don’t bother us.” His voice revealed a trace of annoyance at being interrupted.
There was no sound outside. Benson had just picked up Yvonne when the knocking resumed.

“Can I come in then?” Emma’s voice carried a mix of helplessness and anticipation.
Yvonne pushed Benson’s shoulder. Benson closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and finally got up to dress.
“Emma, wait for me a moment, okay? I just woke up and need to change clothes,” Yvonne called to the door, her tone apologetic..
Outside, Emma patiently waited, her eyes showing dependence on Yvonne and a longing for the walk.
Yvonne quickly got herself together, opened the door, and saw Emma sitting by the door.
Grinning, Emma said, “Uncle, let’s go for a walk. The park next to Aunt Yvonne’s house is so beautiful.”
Her eyes were full of anticipation and excitement.
“In the middle of winter, what’s there to see?” Benson, a bit irritable,
looked down at Emma, feeling a bit annoyed.
She shouldn’t be here, clinging to Yvonne like this.
But seeing Emma’s innocent eyes, Benson ultimately suppressed his annoyance, reluctantly nodded, and followed them.
Going out for a walk early in the morning, although cold, did lift the spirits.
The snow in the park hadn’t melted, frost clung to the branches, and the air carried a chill but also a sense of peace and beauty.
Emma ran ahead, leaving little footprints in the snow.
Her laughter echoed in the empty park, bringing endless vitality to the cold morning.

After breakfast, Benson drove Yvonne to work.
Outside the car window, the city was gradually waking up, pedestrians hurried by, and cars bustled along the streets.
Yvonne sat in the passenger seat, her brows slightly furrowed, sighing from time to time..
Benson noticed her unusual behavior, glanced at her, and spoke with concern in his tone, “Sighing because of Bella?”
Yvonne softly acknowledged, this being one of their rare conversations.
Her eyes showed a hint of helplessness and worry, as if contemplating something complex
“Some people, some things, you can’t avoid. Just like me, I avoided you for three years, but now, am I not in your grasp?”
Benson’s words startled Yvonne, stirring a complex emotion in her
heart.
She hadn’t expected him to say that, momentarily at a loss for
words.
His honesty surprised her, giving her a new perspective on their relationship.
The car fell into a brief silence, with only the low hum of the engine and the occasional honking outside.
Yvonne’s thoughts drifted. She thought about the upcoming New Year. As the head of a fashion department store, she was incredibly busy before the New Year, sometimes having to work Hate.
The items Benson bought that night were left untouched, as he

noticed her tiredness and didn’t want to disturb her.
After Bella returned from Mesquite and found clues from Andrew, she had someone investigate the pendant.
The pendant was something Benson had recently recovered, meaning he hadn’t forgotten Yvonne.
This news alarmed Mary, filling her with doubt and unease.
Why was Bella looking for that pendant? Mary was full of questions.
Mary knew she had to be patient, to hold her ground.
How long had it been? Benson had been living at Yvonne’s place, even picking her up from work, clearly growing closer.
If they got back together, what chance would she have?
She had no choice but to call and question, “How long do I have to wait?”
A sigh came over the phone, “Only when emotions are intense, learning one side has deceived can anger reach its peak… lukewarm feelings, what’s the point, right?”
