Benson 96
Chapter 96 The Art of Cold Treatment.
When Benson landed in Bergen, the cold night wind hit his face. He pulled up the collar of his coat, as if that could dispel the gloom in his heart. Just as he walked out of the airport, his phone rang. It was his second brother, Arthur.
“Transfer me 49.8 million, we’re brothers, so let’s round it up to 50 million. Arthur’s voice had a hint of teasing, as if he was used to these sudden large requests.
“Okay.” Benson agreed without hesitation, his voice steady and firm.
Arthur was taken aback by his response, then laughed, Aren’t you going to ask what she wants me to help with? So decisive, have you decided not to divorce?”
Benson was silent for a moment, his eyes gazing at the distant city lights, thoughts swirling in his mind. Before meeting Yvonne today, he hadn’t really made a decision.
However, when he saw Yvonne chatting and laughing with Marcus as they left the spa club, the thought of not divorcing emerged, unstoppable.
He knew Yvonne and Marcus well and knew how to quickly achieve his goal. So, without hesitation, he created a scene at the club entrance, making things difficult for both of them.
He wouldn’t divorce, but his relationship with Yvonne became even more complicated and tense. And throughout this, the most painful one was himself.
“Remember to transfer the money. Bye. Arthur hung up, and a bitter smile appeared on Benson’s face Benson had George handle the transfer. George sighed his eyes filled with concern, and asked, “Why don’t you explain to Mrs. Taylor?”
Benson looked at him, his eyes cold and devoid of warmth, “Explain what?”
George felt a chill but cautiously said, “You went to see her because you wanted to make amends after seeing the video.” He tried to replace a hint of hesitation in Benson’s expression.
“Will she believe me?” Benson retorted, his tone full of helplessness and self–mockery.
George fell silent. Indeed, he had never seen Yvonne so angry. And what surprised him more was that his always composed boss, Benson, lost control after seeing Marcus and caused such a scene…
That evening, Yvonne returned home from work, the city’s night already spread out, and car lights streaking like meteors on the road. She wearily pushed open the front door, her clothes carrying the day’s dust and fatigue, her shoulders drooping as if bearing the weight of the world.
At that moment, a comforting aroma of food greeted her, filling the entire space.
The soft light illuminated the warm living room, and Bella stood at the kitchen door. Seeing Yvonne enter, she gave a warm smile. The scene seemed to pull her out of the darkness, bringing a glimmer of hope.
“Come, princess, have dinner.” Bella said, holding a plate of exquisite dishes, colorful and fragrant, inviting Yvonne to sit down.
Bella wore simple loungewear, yet her actions exuded an elegant aura.
Yvonne found a bit of solace in Bella’s smile. She responded softly, the fatigue in her eyes slightly dissipating. She sat at the table, adorned with fine tableware, and began to slowly enjoy the meal. “Megan said you’re in a bad mood, so I’m here to keep you company. What’s wrong?” Bella asked with concern, her eyes filled with worry, gently stirring her tea, the water reflecting her inner unease.

Yvonne lowered her head slightly, not answering immediately. She didn’t want to ruin this beautiful evening by mentioning Benson.
But Bella seemed to have already guessed, knowing her character and situation well: “It’s about Benson, right?” She sighed softly, her tone resonating with understanding.
Feeling Bella’s sympathy and understanding, Yvonne felt somewhat comforted and nodded weakly. The helplessness and anger in her memories seemed to Ignite once again, rushing at her.
Seeing this, Bella tried to distract Yvonne, smiling slightly and attempting to lighten the mood, “Since you’re in a bad mood, let me show you something to cheer you up.” She took out her phone from her bag and opened a trending topic.
Yvonne looked closely. The screen showed news about Mary losing her endorsement deal, and she had unexpectedly become the new endorser. Seeing this news, she felt a sudden relief in her chest, as if her repressed emotions had found an outlet, her mood visibly improving.
“You pulled Mary’s endorsement and put me up instead, Yvonne said with a hint of pride. “At first, there was a lot of criticism online, and many netizens maliciously attacked the company. But Megan handled it efficiently, shifting media focus to Mary being a ‘high–risk artist.”
There had long been rumors of her being difficult in the industry. Now, with the contract terminated early, If it wasn’t her problem, why replace her, a popular star, with a ‘has–been‘ actress like me?”
Hearing this, Yvonne smiled in satisfaction. Her actions not only brought Bella a wave of exposure but also threw Mary into a frenzy, causing chaos in Benson’s company.
This strategic victory calmed her somewhat, even making her feel a rare lightness.
In the hospital, Mary, enraged, smashed things in her room, the sound of breaking glass echoing. Her face was livid, eyes blazing with anger, almost ready to explode.
The company’s phone rang incessantly, managers one after another asking how to handle the situation. A flustered George stood by, not daring to make decisions, patiently waiting to report to Benson after his meeting.
In the meeting room, Benson ended the discussion with clients expressionlessly. He picked up the phone, and after hearing George’s report, frowned slightly, his eyes showing a complex emotion.
“This Yvonne, she’s quite capable.” His voice was calm and deep, his eyes flashing with a mix of admiration and helplessness.
George cautiously watched Benson, heart pounding, afraid of touching a nerve. He carefully asked, “So, how should we handle it?”
Benson pondered for a moment, his gaze deep as he looked out the window, seemingly weighing the pros and cons. After a moment, he turned back, his voice even deeper, “Even without those pieces of evidence, if Yvonne flaunts the marriage certificate, Mary will be seen as a homewrecker, her career half ruined.”
He paused, his eyes firm as he looked at George, “Help Mary, and Yvonne will be utterly disappointed; do nothing, and the company suffers a huge loss.”
He was silent for a moment, as if making a difficult decision, then slowly said, “Let the company handle it coldly, let Miss Yvonne cool off first.”
