Chapter 97 The Contract Termination Scandal

Mary’s contract termination spiraled out of control online, with news headlines and social media flooded with negative information about her. While dealing with her work, Yvonne was also troubled by the slow progress in communication with brand partners.

Bella, having just finished her bath, was in comfortable pajamas and flipping through a novel on the sofa. She occasionally glanced up at the busy Yvonne, who was still handling documents, then went back to her book.

Finally, Bella couldn’t hold back any longer. She got up and walked over to Yvonne, half–jokingly saying,” Are you busy?”

Yvonne looked up at her friend and smiled, “Are you busy?”

Bella lay back on the sofa, lazily saying, “Yeah, seeing you so busy, I feel bad disturbing you.”

Yvonne chuckled, “Do you need something?”

Bella suddenly got excited and ran over to her, holding her phone. “Look, Mary is still trending online.”

Yvonne glanced at the trending list on the screen and said indifferently, “Let her trend.”

Bella tilted her head, looking at Yvonne, and tentatively asked, “Since Benson didn’t help her, are happier?”

Yvonne smiled, her eyes reflecting a complex emotion, “I don’t have time to be unhappy, too busy with company matters.

Bella let out a sigh of relief, “Good, as long as you’re not sad about that jerk Benson, I’m relieved.”

Yvonne continued to work on her documents, while Bella sat down beside her, looking at the list of brand partners in front of Yvonne with a mix of admiration and helplessness. Knowing she had no business talent, Bella quietly refrained from disturbing Yvonne further.

The house gradually quieted down, the only sounds were the ticking of the clock and Yvonne flipping through documents. As she worked, Yvonne couldn’t help but let her mind wander.

She recalled how Benson used to pamper Mary, swiftly handling any trouble she got into, suppressing all negative news within hours. But this time, he let it go, which was truly unexpected.

Yvonne sighed. No matter what Benson did or chose, it no longer mattered to her. She shook her head and continued to focus on her work.

At six in the morning, before dawn, Yvonne got up. She quietly packed her things, preparing for the upcoming business trip.

Hearing the noise, Bella groggily woke up and lay on her pillow, watching Yvonne’s busy figure with a heart full of pity.

“Yvonne, how can I help you?” Bella rubbed her eyes, her voice hoarse from sleep, lazily leaning against the bed, her eyes filled with deep concern.

Yvonne turned around, seeing Bella’s confused eyes, and couldn’t help but smile, “Just do your photoshoots well. That’s helping me. Caesar’s performance improvement depends on your effort.” Bella sighed helplessly and said playfully, “Alright, if they want me to strip, I’ll strip without a word.” Yvonne was amused by her words, shaking her head, “No, we are a legitimate company.” Her smile carried a hint of helplessness but more so, care and understanding for her friend.

Bella sat up, rubbing her messy hair, watching Yvonne’s busy figure with some reluctance. She knew how much pressure Yvonne was under and wanted to help but didn’t know where to start.

“Make your breakfast yourself. I have the earliest flight to Boulder City to meet a brand partner.” Yvonne’s voice carried a hint of fatigue, but her eyes were filled with determination.

Bella looked at her packing her luggage, feeling a twinge of heartache. “Didn’t you already negotiate with this brand partner?

Yvonne sighed, pausing her movements, her eyes flashing with helplessness and stubbornness. “I’ve been working on this brand since I took over Caesar. It was about to be finalized, but the former CEO in North Las Vegas got promoted, so now we have to renegotiate.”

At 8:30 in the moming, Yvonne and Megan arrived at the China headquarters of M.R brand. The newly appointed CEO, Elijah, greeted Yvonne warmly. Though he had tried his best to negotiate, the other party was unwilling to cooperate.

Seeing Yvonne’s persistence, Elijah suggested, “Miss Yvonne, may I show you around?”

“Sure.” Yvonne nodded, still holding onto hope.

Elijah took Yvonne to several famous luxury department stores in Boulder City, even going to a newly opened one. In the afternoon, they flew to Bergen.

Throughout the journey, Elijah spoke little, seemingly wanting to show her the market’s actual situation through their visits.

It began to drizzle in Bergen. The southern city’s winter was bone–chilling, making one shiver. Yvonne tightened her coat, still insisting on following Elijah on the visits.

Finally, at the entrance of a high–end department store, Elijah stopped and apologetically said, “Miss Yvonne, I’m really sorry. M.R only collaborates with high–end malls. Today you saw that we won’t choose Caesar, or if Caesar truly matches what you said, we’ll reconsider then.”

With that, Elijah bowed slightly and turned to leave. Yvonne watched him leave, her expression calm, but a hint of disappointment and helplessness flashed in her eyes.

Megan, standing beside her, angrily said, “If they won’t cooperate, they won’t. What’s the point of dragging us around all day?”

Yvonne shook her head and said calmly, “She was kind enough to show us the gap between us and other luxury malls.” She wasn’t angry, understanding that in the business world, there’s no helping hand during tough times, only support in success.

Megan sighed and asked, “So what now?”

Yvonne smiled slightly, her determination clear, “There are other options. Since we’re in Bergen, let’s visit other brands.”

Megan looked at her and couldn’t help but smile, “You’re really something, as if nothing can defeat you.” Yvonne patted her shoulder and said lightly, “Hungry, let’s go back to the hotel, shower, eat, and rest. We’ll fight again tomorrow.”

They slowly walked along the street. Although the rain wasn’t heavy, the fine drizzle brought a chill, Yvonne tightened her coat, looked up at the gloomy sky, and took a deep breath, trying to clear her thoughts with the cold wind.

The hotel was a ten–minute walk from the department store. Yvonne and Megan decided to walk back. Megan carefully held an umbrella, occasionally glancing at Yvonne, her eyes filled with worry and helplessness.

In a CBD café, Andrew was discussing business, elegantly stirring his coffee, looking out the floor–to- ceiling window. His gaze suddenly fixed on a figure on the street, and his expression changed slightly.

It was Yvonne. Though the rain in Bergen was light, Yvonne walking alone in the rain looked particularly lonely and pitiful.

Andrew frowned, took out his phone, and discreetly took a photo. His actions seemed hesitant, as if debating whether to send the photo.

“Mr. Andrew, do you know her?” His client asked curiously, following his gaze outside.

“Yes.” Andrew nodded, his eyes complex as he watched Yvonne’s figure. His tone carried a hint of restraint and unease.

Andrew knew Benson was also in Bergen. Though the slap mark on his face was no longer visible, only Mrs. Taylor would dare to hit him.
