Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) -
Chapter 108
Chapter 108
Mr. Griffin smiled and exchanged pleasantries with Mr. Lewis. When he looked up, he noticed RachelGrey sitting on a chair. The smile on his lips gradually deepened.
He walked past Mr. Lewis and quickly approached Rachel. “Child, why are you here?”
This left everyone dumbfounded.
Could it be that Mr. Griffin knew Rachel seeing how he addressed her amiably?
Jane Smith panicked. She had a bad feeling about this. Her eyes trembled as she looked at theinconspicuous pocket watch on the table.
Was that thing really from Glamour Pavilion?
But wasn’t Rachel from the countryside?
Rachel had no power, nor was she an influential figure. What right did she have to become a
member of Glamour Pavilion?
Rachel put down the teacup in her hand and asked casually, “Has Glamour Pavilion started sellingcounterfeits?”
“What are you talking about, you brat!” Mr. Griffin reprimanded, but there was no anger on his face.“You know I hate counterfeits the most. With me around, there is no way those counterfeits will be ableto make their way into Glamour Pavilion.”
Mr. Griffin was not only the president of the Association of Literary Scholars in Seaxas, but
also a consultant for Glamour Pavilion.
Every item would have to be appraised by him before they could make their way into Glamour Pavilion.Hence, there would be no counterfeits in Glamour Pavilion.
“Then why don’t you take a look at that pocket watch?” Rachel raised her eyebrows and turned to thepocket watch on the table.
Mr. Griffin followed her gaze and couldn’t help but smile. “Is there a need for that? You…“.
Rachel suddenly raised her head and gave him a meaningful look. Mr. Griffin instantly understood herintentions, so he did not continue.
“Okay… I’ll have a look,” Mr. Griffin said as he subconsciously glanced at Rachel.
But Rachel seemed indifferent. One would have thought that this matter had nothing to do with her.
Mr. Griffin cleared his throat and fished a magnifying glass from his chest pocket, then carefully studiedthe embedding of the diamonds and the craftsmanship of the gold work. “This is authentic.”
Those three words were like a slap to Jane’s face. Her face instantly turned pale, and her legs almostgave way.
“What… Could this be the pocket watch that was previously stored in Glamour Pavilion?” Mr. Lewisexclaimed, his voice trembling. He looked at the pocket watch with a fiery gaze. He was too emotionalto speak.
Mr. Griffin slowly put the magnifying glass in his pocket and fiddled with his watch. “That’s

right.”
The hall was in an uproar after having heard Mr. Griffin’s affirmation once again.
“But I heard that this pocket watch had been auctioned off for 1.91 million dollars. How does GlamourPavilion have the heart to…” Mr. Lewis raised his hand to wipe the cold sweat
off his face.
Mr. Griffin smiled and said, “The articles of Glamour Pavilion are not only for sale. If we meet someonefated, we will naturally be willing to sell them.”
The Smith family’s second aunt could not help but blurt out, “That’s still 1.91 million
dollars…”
Since when had Rachel become so rich?
Rachel seemed to understand what the aunt meant. She put down the cup in her hand and saidcasually, “Miss Cruise compensated me 2 million dollars. It was just enough to purchase this pocketwatch.”
Her tone was flat, but every word was like a knife stabbing into Olivia Cruise’s heart. Everyone’s eyeswere filled with mockery and sympathy as they looked at Jane.
Jane gradually came back to her senses under everyone’s gaze. Their gazes felt like blades slashingat her. She really could not stand them.
Her eyes were filled with chaos. She endured the bitterness in her heart and stood on the spot in asorry state.
The pocket watch was actually authentic?
Then, what would happen to her? Jane suddenly remembered the bet earlier.
No, she would never kneel!
She was the daughter of the Smith family. If she knelt and apologized to Rachel in front of everyonetoday, how would she hold up her head in the future?
Old Mr. Smith had already guessed this would be the case since Rachel was so calm. Old Mr. Smith’sheart sank when he heard Mr. Griffin say that. He did not feel happy at the slightest to receive that gift.
If Jane knelt in front of everyone present, the Smith family would also lose face.
Old Mr. Smith looked at Rachel with a complicated expression, but Rachel ignored him. Rachel thenlooked at the ashen–faced Jane with a faint smile. “Miss Smith, isn’t it time for you to keep your word?”
