Chapter 70

The next morning, Rachel departed from the Johnson family’s mansion and headed for the bidding forthe land in South Valley.

On the way, Linda was reporting her schedule to Rachel when the phone in her pocket suddenly rang.

When she saw the unfamiliar caller ID, she frowned and picked up the phone. She said politely andcoldly, “Hello.”

“Hello, Ms. Galler.” Louis’s voice came through the phone. “I’m Louis from Smith Group. I want to visitMs. Grey personally. I wonder if Ms. Grey is available recently?”

Linda didn’t hesitate at all. “I’m sorry, Mr. Smith. Ms. Grey hasn’t had time recently, and it won’t beconvenient in the future.”

The meaning of this sentence was self–evident.

Anyone with a brain could tell that the other party refused to meet him.

When Louis heard Linda’s answer, his handsome face suddenly darkened. It was obvious that he wasvery dissatisfied with Linda’s attitude.

As the saying went, you should know your enemy and yourself. During this period of time, he had beensecretly sending people to investigate the newly appointed Ms. Grey of Johnson Corporation. However, the funny part was that after several days of investigation, the only valuable clue they obtained was thatthe other party was a woman. Other than that, they found nothing.

It wasn’t easy for him to spend a lot of money to buy a photo of Ms. Grey’s back, but before he couldtake a look at it, the computer shut down on a computer virus.

So he could only brace himself to visit her.

He wanted to replace out the truth from Ms. Grey and replace out how confident the other party was about theland in South Valley. If he

lost the competition, maybe it was possible for him to take a share of the profits through cooperation.

Now that he understood what Linda meant, he had no choice but to pretend to be confused. “Ms.Galler, I’m sincerely in hope of visiting Ms. Grey. I hope you can help me…”

“I’m sorry. There’s nothing I can do.”

With that, she hung up without giving him a chance to speak.

Listening to the beeping sound on the phone, Louis’s face wast extremely gloomy. There was aterrifying low pressure around him, causing the temperature in the car to suddenly drop below

zero.

The assistant beside him hesitated for a while before reminding him carefully, “Mr. Smith, we’re here.”

Louis raised his eyes. His dark eyes were filled with malicious. coldness as he looked straight at theassistant who was leaning over from the front passenger seat. He asked expressionlessly, “DidJohnson Corporation replace any valuable clues?”

As far as the eye could see, the only strong competitor for this bid was Johnson Corporation.

In terms of status and wealth, Smith Group was not even worth mentioning in the presence of JohnsonCorporation.

However, Smith Group was determined to obtain the land in South Valley.

The assistant sized up his gloomy expression and swallowed nervously. He stammered, “I only heardthat mysterious Ms. Grey of Johnson Corporation seemed to be going to take action in person…”

“Humph!” Louis sneered with a fake smile. He raised his chin slightly and slowly buttoned up his suitjacket. “We’ll replace out later. Let’s see if she’s one of those big shots.”

As he spoke, he opened the car door and got out.

As time passed, Rachel finally arrived at the venue five minutes before the bidding began.

When Rachel arrived, most of the people were already seated. In order not to attract unnecessaryattention, Rachel chose a dim and inconspicuous corner to sit down.

The people participating in the bidding today all focused their gazes on the seats of JohnsonCorporation, trying to take this opportunity to see Ms. Grey of Johnson Corporation.
