Alexei's POV

I bought a new tuxedo for tonight. I wanted to look my best, as I was going to ask Cara to marry me. Jaxon had mentioned that he was marrying Brenna after the Luna ceremony. Kevin had gone into the city earlier today to get a ring for Luna. He was also going to propose to Luna tonight. Jaxon said that he already had the officiant here, and since it was a member of his pack, he had asked him to get the formalities done. We all had a wedding license now, and Jaxon suggested that we all get married tonight, after the Luna ceremony. I didn't see why not. I think that Cara would love to have the same anniversary as her sisters. Everyone that was important to us was already here. My brother and his family. Blake and his family, and Jaxon's brothers came in with Kevin as Raven had told them that a wedding would be held after the ceremony. I was giving Cara my mother's ring. It was beautiful with a large emerald-cut white diamond, flanked by a deep blue sapphire on either side of it. The only thing I needed to get was a wedding band that went with it and a wedding band for myself. I went with Kevin to grab those two items. I managed to replace a wedding ring with beautiful dark blue sapphires on it. I also found a men's band with four sapphires embedded in it. I knew that Cara was going to love it.

Jaxon and Raven had planned it out this way as soon as Brenna told them I had marked and mated Cara. I appreciated them including us in it, as I knew how much it would mean to Cara. I patted my pocket, holding the rings in it, and couldn't stop the smile that spread across my face. I have never been happier, or looking forward to something so much in my life. The only thing that could make me happier is holding the babies that Cara and I will have together. Just that image in my mind makes me want to run to her and make that happen. I want our baby girls to look just like their beautiful mother. I don't care what we have as long as Cara is mine forever.

We were all in Jaxon's office and waiting until eight to go to the area set up for the ceremony. Everyone was in a good mood and relaxed. This was an important day for all of us. As a vampire, we don't have a true mate. It is just a mate. I have been told that for werewolves, the pull towards your true mate is an extremely powerful force. One that most cannot resist. I can't imagine a stronger compulsion to be with another than what I feel for Cara.

It is an all-consuming need to know that she is safe and cared for at all times. When she is not with me, my mind is always on her, wondering what she is doing and who she is with. I want to learn about her likes and dislikes. That is the important information that I need to know now. I want to make her happier than she has ever been in her life, and I don't care what anyone says about it.

Cara is the most important person in my life. I remember teasing Anton about how he felt after he and Cheryl got together. He didn't care how we teased him. All he cared about was making Cheryl happy. Now, it is my turn, and I feel like I have fallen even harder than he did. I can't wait for our children to grow up together.

We were still talking together when I got a mindlink from Dmitry telling me that Ivan was awake. I quickly told the group that Ivan had woken up and that I was going there to check on him. They came with me, as he was a friend of theirs as well. We all crowded into his room a few minutes after eight. There were several of us in the room now. Dr. Gurin and Dr. Hill were already in there and speaking to him. Asking him questions as the nurse tended to him. They kept having to repeat themselves as he was focused on the young nurse.

I had been with Jaxon, Kevin, Trevor, Liam, and Dexter in the office. They occupied most of the room as they were all pretty big guys, as was Dmitry. Chase and Warrick had been with us earlier, but they left to go take the women to the ceremony. Jaxon was trying to make this as much like a wedding as possible without making it obvious. Dr. Hill sent the nurse out of the room, and Ivan immediately growled at him. "Mate," Ivan ground out. His throat was dry from being in the self-induced coma. Dmitry had been holding a cup for him, but he was so focused on the nurse that he had only taken a sip or two.

"I will have her return as soon as we get your assessment done, Ivan. She will not leave. She seemed to be very interested in you, too," Dr. Hill replied with a smile. "What do you remember last?" Dr. Gurin asked.

"Jana shot me. I was tracking her in the woods. She had called for help, advising that someone had trespassed onto our land. Dmitry and I had split up to replace the person trespassing. She didn't know that Dmitry was there with me. I didn't see anyone else there, only Jana. I was about to ask her about the report she called in when she shot me. I saw her raise the gun and managed to leap to the side, but I guess she still shot me. Why was Jana trying to kill me?" Ivan replied in a puzzled tone.

"We don't know that yet, Ivan. We are still looking for Jana now. Kira and Blake came from Blood Tracker to help us search for her and Anika. The only thing that we know for sure is that she met up with a member of Black Adder. But we don't know the reason why. We were having the she-wolf followed for several days, but Jana hasn't come back. Lena, the she-wolf has just been doing her regular routine. Jana has been messing around with Lena's brother, Phillip. There was an incident with that, but we have no idea why Jana would do that to you," I replied in frustration.

Jana is still out there, and Cara will never be safe until I kill her. I clenched my fists in anger but kept my mouth shut. Ivan had just woken up. I am glad that he is doing well, but we can manage this without him.

"Just rest, my friend. We will figure out what is going on. I am sure that we will replace Jana and Anika soon. We are just happy that you woke up and are doing well. Doctors, I wanted to thank you both for taking care of Ivan. He seems to be doing very well," I told them. They waved it off, but Ivan and Dmitry were my very best friends. They were both important to me. I will never let Jana get away with what she has done.

"Can you bring my mate back now?" Ivan asked quietly. It hit me that having your mate around helps werewolves. I wondered if it could do the same for vampires.

"Dr. Gurin, did Ivan having his mate here help him heal quicker?" I asked.

"I believe it did, Alexei. It might not work as quickly as it does for our werewolf counterparts, but we didn't expect him to wake up for another two weeks. I know that Kira had come and tried to heal him, the same as you did, but he had some serious injuries. He needed downtime to completely heal. But, I agree, his healing has been nothing short of miraculous. I knew something else was at work. I just never expected it to be his mate. Ivan comes here a lot for official business. Who knew his mate had been so close to the coven?" Dr. Gurin replied. Dr. Hill nodded in agreement with what Dr. Gurin had said.

"We had noticed the improvement he started to make about three days ago. Nurse Bonnie came on duty four days ago from her off days. We didn't want to assume anything, but we were questioning it ourselves already. Ivan just verified it for us. I know that she took excellent care of him, and we made her his own personal nurse. I knew you didn't want a lot of people with access to Ivan, so I made sure that she worked with him for the bulk of the day," Dr. Hill happily filled us in on what he had suspected.

"I am glad he found his mate. I just hope that she accepts him. Is she single?" I asked, looking towards Jaxon. Jaxon shrugged, but Dr. Hill interjected, "Yes, she is."

I watched a smile work its way across Ivan's face. I can see that he is already wrapped around her finger. I hope that she is accepting of other species as a mate. Some aren't, but I hope she will at least give him a chance. He is a really good man, and I wanted Ivan to have a good mate.

"We will send her back in. She had mentioned this morning that Ivan needed a sponge bath. I will have to see if she is still up for the task now that her patient is awake," Dr. Gurin teased Ivan before he headed toward the door. Now that Ivan was awake, he could do it on his own, but I couldn't hold my laugh back.

"Hey, I just woke up, Doc. I don't think I can exert myself like that just yet. I will still need some help," Ivan teased back before freezing in place. I saw the faraway look that he had in his eyes. I knew what it meant. Ivan was seeing something. He was getting a vision. Ivan goes into a trance-like state to see his visions. Thankfully, Dr. Gurin returned to the bed, as he had seen Ivan have a premonition before.

Ivan gasped loudly as he came back to us. "Go, Alexei, go now! Paxton is here, and he is taking them back to his pack. They are taking them from Black Adder tonight. Right now, from the looks of it," he glanced out the window of his room. "Jana and Anika are with him. I believe that I saw it as it happened. You do not have time to lose. Paxton and his men are outside the pack to take them," Ivan told us. He fell back on his bed as he seemed to be drained from having the vision.

Jaxon and I looked at each other before running to the door, "Stay with Ivan," I called back to Dmitry. I didn't wait for a reply. Jaxon was right there with me, and he didn't speak until we got to the hospital entrance.

"Chase and Warrick are not answering their mindlink, and neither is Brenna. Let's head for the new pack house. I mindlinked my dads to meet us there. No one is answering me," Jaxon announced anxiously.

"I should have killed that asshole when I had the chance," I answered him as we ran to go rescue our mates.
