Billionaire's Regret -
Chapter 24:
Aaron walked out the building with the simple yet legal marriage certificate. He walked to the car and climbed in. "I have the document. The pilot will arrive later today. What plan do you have in mind Annie? At the moment I am following your lead as you know these people a little better than me." He reached out to touch her hand. He briefly looked at the simple gold wedding band.
"In truth I can't seem to think Aaron."
"Okay, you just get Leonardo ready. How does he feel about this situation?"
Annie suddenly smiles looking at him. "We need a boat."
"Oh and why is that?"
"You really should start to read my books. Just for a couple of days let's go to Cowan's Cave." The sudden merriment was twinkling in her eyes. "This is my honeymoon destination."
"I never heard of it." He looked puzzled.
"You wouldn't since you don't read. I made up the name." She reached into his jacket pocket and removed his cell phone. Since she knew some of his ways it was easy to know who his pilot was. She quickly told him what to do. "We have two hours." She laughed softly.
"Where can I buy your books? Is it available on the internet?" he was enjoying her sudden joyfulness.
"I am trying to teach the youth in Cape Cove that not everything is available online. I wish people could enjoy the experience of opening a freshly print book. It's magical."
Aaron suddenly leaned forward and softly kissed her full on the lips. He instantly felt her responsiveness.
"Annie, are you ready?" Aaron was a bit nervous and impatient. He just gotten word that a light plane has landed secretly on the island.
"We are coming."
He watched her approached with their son. She only ever seems to carry a single set of luggage. The rest was Leonardo's treasures. "You always travels light." He observes.
"I am a simple girl. I don't need much in life." She said reaching for her son.
Aaron has the powerful urge to claim his son but his regret about the mistakes in his past silence his mouth. "Okay let's go. Allow me to take Leonardo." He holds out his arms.
She briefly looked at him before her eyes concealed whatever she was thinking. She just nods her head before she follows. The man and boy certainly seemed to like each other.
"It didn't take Gregor long. I wonder who he has on his payroll." As the helicopter glide into the air Annie looked down. Once years ago she made a point of knowing how the man look she was avoiding at all cost.
Aaron said nothing just briefly connect with the pilot who only nods his head. He watched the mafia Boss looking into the air. In his heart he just knows they will fight the moment they meet.
"Boss, the beach house is empty. She didn't take anything with her.
"Annie Black travels light." Gregor look at his cell phone. He was tracking Annie's GPS. "I will replace her. This time I am not going to allow her to ever get away from me." He stood watching until he no longer sees the helicopter.
He enters the beach house and walked around until he found her bedroom. It was instantly clear she wasn't sharing a bed with the man who dares interfere in his private life. He picks a shirt from the bed that Annie has discarded. He took a deep and long sniff of her essence. Then with it in hand he climbed on the bed and lay down on her pillow.
"Annie where are you?" Aaron was dumbfounded when they arrived on the island just before the tie slipped in effectively shutting them off from the world. The innocent girl he had briefly marriage and horrible divorced certainly has secrets of her own. It entered his mind if he ever should make her run from him, he won't have enough money to replace her. He silently promised to replace all her books. He just knows he would replace her truth in there.
"I am in here." Annie was standing on a ladder reaching for a book in the corner on the top shelves.
"What are you doing?" Aaron slowly looked up the slender legs that very enticingly disappeared into a pair of shorts. She was bare foot.
"Are you ogling me Mister Casey?"
"I am." He said simply.
"Why," he dropped the book in his hands. Agile and quick foot she jumped from the ladder.
"You are a beautiful woman."
Annie said nothing just blushes.
"I have been thinking about something. How does that man managed to track you down so easily?"
"I don't know."
"Annie, let's talk about him later. I want to discuss the past. There are things you need to know." Aaron suddenly looked serious. He took her hand and start walking in the direction of the surface. The sun has already set but reaching the surface, the stars lights the sky beautiful. He just silently shook his head in awe.
"Annie, I know we were married before." He said pointedly. He instantly felt her removed her hand from him.
"What are you talking about?" she crosses her arms defensively over her chest.
"You intern at my first start-up company Annie."
"Why did you pretend not to know me when you made that idiotic offer of revenge at the hospital?"
"In all honesty I didn't know you. My memories are only now starting to return."
"What are you saying Aaron?"
"Would you mind telling me your version about our lives together? I am sometimes still not sure what is truth or a lie."
"I always thought I did something but I could never figure out. You are right, as I barely start to work for you when you asked me to marry you. We had fallen in love but then one day you just stormed into the house we bought in Cape Cove. You demanded that I leave once I signed the divorce papers. You just throw me out and away with no explanation."
"You know I rarely visit that mansion but each time during the year I have this urgent sense to go back. Always when I unlock the door, the wedding ring sits there in judgment. I just could never figure out what it meant. What the hell happened Annie?"
