Billionaire's Regret
Chapter 25:

"Doctor Grace Stevens I presume."

Gregor glared at Jeff Kinney. The other man wordlessly scrambled away from the intimate table he managed to arrange. One look behind him and he finally decide to drop the woman. He turned and walked away. "Who are you?"

"I am a mutual friend." Gregor sits down and wordlessly orders the waitress to pour him wine.

"Who," Grace looked at the well dressed man. She has noticed the armed bodyguards.

"Annie Black. What do you know about her?"

"I don't know her. Her mother was a patient of mine. That is all I can tell you."

"Why did you shoot her father?" Gregor watched her closely.

"I didn't. What are you talking about?" Grace looks concern.

Gregor reached for the glass of wine. He slowly starts to drink and just looking at her. He noticed she was a good looking woman. His obsession for Annie Black has made him blind for the beauty of others.

"Let me be frank with you. Where Annie Black is concerned, I make it a point of knowing what's happening around her. Now I want to know why you shot her fool of a father."

"It wasn't me but I was in the motel room when it happened." Grace admits.

"What did you want from him?" Gregor smiles but his eyes were hard.

"Well I wanted some information. The man refused to answer my question in truth. He did suggest that you might be involved with her disappearance."

"Hmm," Gregor just keeps looking at her. "It would seem those two individual fools managed to tangle the truth until it serve their purpose. Thom Black is an idiot but I found Hanna a worthy opponent." He said with a touch an admiration. "Whatever," Grace moved to stand but the fast approached of two guards who instantly stood on either side of her chair made her sit down quickly.

"Tell me,"

"What do you want to know?" Grace was annoyed but nervous.

"Who is Aaron Casey?"

"He was my finance." She said flatly.

"Sounds like the break up weren't mutual. What did he do?"

"He didn't like the fact that I like variety in my relationships. I don't understand the double standards. Men are allowed but when a strong woman does the same, she is immediately judge." She answered with a rising voice.

"Your life and your choices but tell me how do I get that man away from Annie? Do you still want him in one piece?"

"You sound like you have a plan?" Grace narrows her eyes.

"What would you do if I tell you I know where they are hiding?" Gregor looks openly pleased.

"You have a plan for Annie. Well I have my own plan for Aaron."

"Okay, I am willing to collaborate until we succeed." Gregor stood. He holds his hand for Grace to took whether she want to or not."

Aaron sits beside the sleeping boy. In his heart he knew his mother would have been proud to be his grandmother. The fact remain for now, he can't claim his son until he right the past. He senses Annie hiding from him and he doesn't blame her. Somehow he majorly screwed their brief marriage.

"You want to eat with me?" Annie asked softly from the door.

"I am coming." Aaron stood and briefly kissed his son on the fore head before he carefully pulled the light blanket over his shoulders.

He looks at the deliciously light meal she has prepared with a bottle of red wine. He sits down allowing her to serve him. The intimate gesture looks so painfully familiar. "Thank you."

"I hope you like it. Its years since I made something else other than Mac and Cheese." She smiles sitting across from him.

"My mother called. She confirms that Gregor Damian was circling her."

"I already put get-away arrangements if they should discover the island. Annie I am very worried that man's ability to replace you."

"I really don't know how he is doing it." She took a sip from the wine watching him.

"What do you want to know Annie?"

"The previous day in your office in the city..." she frowns trying to frame the words.

"What about it?" He only has vague memories about that day. It seems Annie might have a clue.

"I remember you were in several meetings but each time you received a call from an unknown number you left the boardroom. Each time you return you were visible worried? What was that about?" "Are you sure? I don't remember that."

“Its edge into my mind as it was the same day you arrived home the day our lives was shattered."

Aaron just sits looking at her. It was clear he has no idea what she was talking about.

"What else was out of the ordinary in our lives?"

"At first since I never paid much attention to that mafia guy once my father went to prison. Over the years though I wondered that feeling of being followed; if it was you or that man?"

Aaron stood. He feels restricted by what he was hearing. He feels a headache brewing just behind his eyelids.

"Annie I really don't understand. How is it possible that I had forgotten?"He shook his head. "How did you manage to get over the hurdle?"

"I had no choice. I had to choose my path. It took a bit of time but I finally realized I am responsible for my own life and the choices I am making."

"Somehow you managed."

"I was lucky when I met my editor. We instantly didn't like it each other." She smiles "Out of revenge I submit a book to her company. Since then we work well together."

"Did you regret the past?" Aaron seems like a man searching for something to hold onto.

"I couldn't change the past. Then again, I didn't want to. What did drive me crazy was not understanding." She suddenly moved closer to him. Like in the past she understood he would never ask but he needed it. Without thinking twice she suddenly wraps her arms around him. "Aaron, we will figure out what's happening. Life is what we make it. Good or bad, but keep in mind that it is life."

"I only feel regret but you somehow survived a lot. I feel ashamed of the part I played in hurting you." Aaron step away from her. He suddenly left the room. He found himself standing in the doorway of the boy's room who doesn't even knows he should call him daddy.
