Billionaire's Regret
Chapter 41:

"I am Annie Black Casey. I am a writer. I need to get out of the house," she told her reflection in the mirror firmly. Standing still as she took a complete look at her face. The once longish hair was now cut in a short boy-style. It had taken much courage but the moment she asked her friend to come to the house, she had made her decision.

"Are you satisfied?" Lily Millie asked finally.

"I am the doctor has managed to heal much of the damage on my face. The rest of my body can at least be concealed with clothes."

"What had happen Annie? I am curious."

"What did the rumor mill of Cape Cove said about my sudden disappearance?" Annie turns away from the mirror.

"Well if you don't know, that editor of yours created one heck of a media search."

Annie smiles, as she knows just how creatively that woman can lie to benefit her and her writers. She reaches for her glass to swallow the pills. If it wasn't for them she wouldn't have been able to handle the pain after the first serious of skin operations.

"I never thought I would replace myself on such a roller-coaster of misfortune once my Mom and I left for Switzerland."

"Where is Hanna now that you mentioned it?"

Annie looks at her school friend considering her answer. She briefly smiles before reaching for a pen and paper. She quickly scrawls her answer down showing Lily Millie. "Ok,"

Annie shredded the pieces of paper throwing it in the bin. Her friend left the house.

The doorbell rings making her quickly opened it.

"Hello Annie,"

"What do you want Gregor?"

"May I come in for a moment?"

Annie looked at the mafia billionaire. Since she found her way back to Cape Cove, she has truly developed the habit of trusting no one. But she also knows keep the enemy close.

"I have nothing to say to you." She moved to closed the door but he quickly reach out to halt her actions.

"Please Annie, I won't stay long."

"Fine, but leave the front door open. I want my neighbors to monitor your actions." Annie watches him turn around his eyes searching. Lately she was very glad about the nosiness about the people in her street. "There is no need to be afraid of me Annie."

"Oh really." The quick bitter twist plays around her mouth before she went inside. She went inside and stood waiting in the kitchen. On impulse she decided to boil a kettle of water. "Annie, how are you feeling?"

Gregor really feels uneasy in the kitchen. The last time he found himself in such a place was when he was a boy.

"Better say why you are here, I have an appointment."

"Are you alone in here?"

"You know the answer. You certainly made it a point of keeping me under surveillance."

"I am doing this for your own safety Annie."

"Nonsense, but then again it are your business. You can keep as much as you want control over my life. The fact remain, touch me and I will kill you violently but silently."

"I never thought you can by vicious Annie." Gregor smooth with his hand over his hair.

"You should have left me alone but you just had to play your games. I have to give it to you that you nearly trapped me. But it's clear that fate has other plans." "Annie... I love you."

"No you don't. You want to control me. Now that we are on the subject where is that bitch Grace Stevens?"

"In the city," Gregor said moving closer to her. He reaches out to touch her making her back away fast. "The operations seem to be a success."

"Whatever, point remain I won't ever be the same completely. Now, what do you want Gregor?" she crosses her arms over her chest in a protective manner.

"Would you go with me to a formal function?" he looks pointedly at her.

"No," she said flatly.

"Annie you need to get out of the house. You are turning into a hermit." He tries reaching for her again.

"I said don't touch me. I can't stand the sight of you. Go ask that bitch Grace."

"Annie this is more around your specialty. I thought you could mingle with likeminded writers."

"Let me tell you one thing today, we creative types don't like each other."

"That's nonsense Annie."

"Gregor, I want you to leave. If you don't want Grace ... now that I think about it, where is Sylvia?"

"The woman had disappeared along with Aaron. I thought that man might have taken you along but he has left you behind. I did a bit of research and realized this is a habit of him. Yet you keep choosing him over me. Why Annie," "My lack of a relationship with Aaron has nothing to do with you. Since I had given you an answer I want you to leave."

"Annie, I won't always ask nicely. As per agreement with your father, I could simply just take you."

Annie quickly walks towards her open front door before making a rush move outside. She forced herself to stumble and fall as she screams.

"What are you doing?" Gregor stood puzzled just inside the door.

"Help," she screams.

"That's enough Annie."

"He won't leave me alone," she screams again at the top of her lungs.

"That's enough Annie. I am leaving for now. This isn't over I am warning you." Gregor walked away seeing and the neighbors looking at him with hostility before he climbs in his car and drives away. "Bitch,"

Annie jumped onto her feet before going inside. She closed her front door. The quick strong arms suddenly circles around her. She found herself being lifted from the floor and carried into the study. "When did you arrive Aaron?"

"A couple of minutes ago enjoyed your performance." Aaron looks at her before he bends his head kissing her softly on the lips. Both instantly moved into each other. Her arms slipped around his neck standing on tip toes as she enjoyed the kiss.
