Billionaire's Regret
Chapter 48:

Annie immediately recognized her mother. While waiting and watching the helicopter flying away she doubted everything and everyone around her. The pain pills didn't help much. She quickly approached her Mom replaceing herself wrap in a warm hug. This suddenly made the tears unexpectedly stream down her face.

"What's wrong honey?"

"I don't know," she suddenly really cries.

"What on earth happened?" Hanna was very worried. Not once since her daughter was a child did she cry. She looked wordlessly at James who took the boys back towards the lake. She then made her daughter sit down on the bench in the garden just holding her hand until she was calm.

"Where is Aaron?"

"He left," she said with a hic-up.

"Where did he go?"

"Into the city," Annie wipes her face dry looking curiously at her mother. "Something is wrong Mom?"

"What do you mean?"

"I... I don't remember." Annie stood and starts circling again.

"What on earth do you mean Annie?"

"Just what I said Mom, now tell me, how did I end up here with Aaron?"

"You really have me confused now honey." Hanna looked sharply at her daughter. Apart from the red eyes she noticed the dark circle and clear fatigue on her.

"Annie, start from the beginning. What on earth has you this confused?"

"I really am not sure. When Leo called me this morning, I don't understand how I ended up here back at the estate. Aaron looked just as confused as I."

"Now I am confused honey. After my stroke things was a bit hasty and troublesome. I had faith that you and Aaron will work this out."

"When did you have a stroke Mom?" Annie stood right in front of her mother while her eyes went on an immediate inspection.

"It was a serious while back Annie. I am fine. But now it would seem I should be more worried about you. Why do you keep rubbing your temples?"

"I have a headache that won't go away."

"It might be stress. Did you eat anything?" Hanna suddenly took her by the hand going inside.

Aaron step from the helicopter. He quickly walked down towards the ER. He was slightly puzzled that he seemed to know the way. He found himself irritated that Zac seem to follow him. He stops suddenly looking at the other man. "What are you doing?"

"You are acting very weird Boss. You told me to stay at your side to get you out of the current situation with the doctor." Zac looked hard at him. "Did you hit your head or something?" "Stay here." Aaron said flatly.

"What about you're meeting with Gregor Damian?"

Aaron nearly asked who the hell that man was. He just shrugs his shoulders and went down the hall. The nurse grabbing hold of his arm suddenly leads him into an empty room.

"I don't have much time sir. You should be careful with the pills you are taking." Mary the head nurse said. She nervously looked around. "I found a doctor that would give you a private checkup." "Okay," Aaron fights the urge to question the woman about the pills.

"Grace has been acting very odd these past weeks. She constantly wants to know whether you were at hospital. I see you trust Zac again."

"I rust no one." Aaron moved towards the door.

"Sir, thank you for what you did for Sylvia and Danny. I know someday we will get behind the truth of their so called accident."

Aaron just looked at her before he slowly nods his head.

Annie looked at her phone again. She then looks at her mother. "Do you know this person Mom?"

"It's your publisher Annie. Aura has been trying to get hold of you for weeks now. She has approved the new book. She is convinced that it would be a best seller."

"What are you talking about Mom?"

"Now I am convinced you're lost your marbles."

"Am I not working for Aaron?"

"Not since Leo's birth. You are a writer Annie. You have a series of children's books on your name. Somehow Aura has convinced you to write your first romance. This is your story with Aaron." "Do I have a study?"

"Yes back at my house. You are going to move your office in here." Hanna looked at her. She suddenly has an idea. "I think you and Leo should come back to the house. I am sure that crazy library would spark a memory or two. I just don't understand how you can have memory loss. You certainly weren't recently in an accident."

"Mom," Annie looked shaken and visible pale.

"Do you remember Gregor Damian?" Hanna asked carefully.

"Who is he?"

"The man nearly cost you your life, as you were scared badly but a serious team of very professional doctors managed to heal your face and body. The last time I check, you only have slightly visible scars. But you didn't care as it was covered under your clothes. Annie, I think you should come with me. The truth is in your study."

"A quick question," Aaron looks at the nurse. "The accident ..." he didn't say much. "Gregor Damian."

"Thank you. We will talk again."

Aaron watches her leave. He stood motionless while his mind tried to figure out what he just learned.

"What on earth is going on here? Zac and now Gregor Damian... Where does Annie fit in?"

He has no idea who to trust. He step out of the empty room but just stood there. He instinctively entered the hospital but now not sure where to go. He suddenly turned heading for the exit. Once outside he climbed into a taxi. "Zac, where is Aaron?" Doctor Grace quickly approached him. She looked furious.

"How should I know? He entered ten minutes ago heading to you."

"Well where is he? He certainly didn't appear in front of me."

"Grace, the man went directly towards your office."

"Bloody hell I wonder if he changed his mind." Grace quickly run back to her office.
