Chapter 36

Chapter 36

Vanessa gripped her cell phone so tightly her knuckles turned white. She did not expect a call from Jackson Foster out of the blue.

She calmed herself down before saying coldly, “Mr. Foster, please don’t call me again in the future. Goodbye!”

“Wait a minute, Vanessa, Jackson said hurriedly.

Vanessa felt her heart tighten; she was so angry she trembled uncontrollably.

Jackson had no right to visit her father or to call her.

“Vanessa, were you the one who posted the video of Keen Darcy jumping off a building?” Jackson asked. “Delete it!”

Vanessa suddenly felt like a wildfire burning her chest, and she was about to explode.

The anger was indescribable and intorelable.

Who did Jackson Foster think he was?

What right did he have to ask her to delete the video?

Perhaps Jackson had something else on his mind.

“What was I expecting?” Vanessa thought.

She quickly hung up.

Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.

Vanessa knew deep inside what she expected.

She expected an apology from Jackson to lay the matter to rest.

Vanessa had hoped he would replace out the truth one day that the person in those photos was not her. He would then apologize to her sincerely, “Vanessa, I’m sorry!”

She would tell him it was all in the past and then truly let go of what happened.

However, Jackson did not call to apologize. Instead, he asked her to delete the video.

He had no right whatsoever! Vanessa was furious.

When Danny saw his sister crying, he immediately wiped her tears away and asked her what was wrong with sign language.

Vanessa quickly wiped her eyes and told him the wind was too strong and sand was in her eyes.

Danny did not continue. He hugged his sister instead, trying to comfort her.

Then he signed, “Sis, let’s walk around and look at the garden and the beautiful flowers.”

“Sure.” Vanessa immediately gestured.

Danny suddenly signed. “Sis, do you know where Brother–in–law works? Can we go and see him?”

He wondered if his sister had suddenly cried because of the call from Jackson Foster.

Danny was a thoughtful and observant young man. Although he was mute, he was aware of everything around him.

He felt that the only person who could heal his sister was his brother–in–law.

When Vanessa saw Danny’s eager bright eyes, she could not refuse his request. She gestured with her hands. “I’ll call your brother–in–law and ask if it’s convenient.

Moreover, she also wanted to see William Hawk.

Vanessa knew he was out of her reach and she was not worthy of him; she still wanted to see him nonetheless.

“Okay,” Danny nodded vigorously, his eyes even brighter.

Vanessa took out her cell phone and called William.

William picked up after just one ring. “Honey,” he said gently.

Vanessa’s heart warmed up immediately.

“William, are you busy?” she asked.

“No, I’m not. What’s the matter? I’ll come over now to see you,” William said.

“No need to come over; everything is fine. I want to bring Danny to visit you. Is it convenient?” Vanessa asked.

“Of course. I will pick you up,” William offered.

“No, thanks. I’ll bring Danny over. Is it the Hawk Group building?” Vanessa said.

“Yes,” William replied.

“Then we’ll come over now.”

“But I want to pick you up.”

“It’s okay. We’ll come by bus. It’s very convenient.”

“Take a cab then, suggested William.

“All right, we’ll take a cab,” Vanessa agreed.

“I’ll wait for you,” William said.

“Okay” Vanessa hung up.

She met Danny’s gaze; he pointed at her cell phone with a hopeful look.

Vanessa nodded and smiled.

Danny was happy to know that his brother–in–law was available now.

He gestured again. “Sis, we can’t go empty–handed. Brother–in–law often buys things for Dad and me.”

“Yes,” Vanessa gestured.

Danny gestured again. “What should we buy? Fruits and flowers?”

Vanessa smiled and gestured. “A woman does not send flowers to a man.”

Danny gestured with a serious look. Then what should we buy?”

Vanessa gestured, “It’s too early for lunch now. Let’s buy some desserts and have lunch together later.”

Danny’s eyes lit up again. That’s great!”

Vanessa booked a cab as suggested by William.

Meanwhile, on the other side of town..

Tracy Yost arrived at the Hawk Group building.

She donned a custom–made winter dress suit and high heels as she carried the dessert into the building.

Tracy initially thought the front desk would stop her on the first floor.

Unexpectedly, the receptionist saw her and quickly lowered her head to mind her own thing.

Tracy rolled her eyes and walked straight to the CEO’s private elevator.

The receptionist ran over hurriedly. “Madam, please take the other elevators.”

Tracy was furious and wanted to reprimand her. Then she recalled being stopped by the security guards a few days ago. before she could enter the elevator.

She suppressed her anger, walked into another elevator, and pressed the button for the 28th floor.

Meanwhile, in the CEO’s office on the 28th floor.

William Hawk just received a call from Vanessa telling him she wanted to take the bus. He suddenly realized he had not given his new wife a bank card after marriage.

Willaim had not told Vanessa about his exact situation a few days ago. Therefore, he could not give her a card. But now, could.

He pressed the intercom.

Ben immediately ran over. “What do you need, Mr. Hawk?”

He was mindful of his blunder earlier and became extra cautious around William.

Meanwhile, he followed up on Danny’s situation. Keith Cooper would turn on Danny’s cochlear implants in advance by next week. He would then help the young man do rehabilitation training.

On top of doing his assistant job, Ben learned about hearing recovery with cochlear implants during this time.

William took three bank cards from his wallet and handed them to Ben. “Go to the banks and apply for supplementary cards for Vanessa. Get them to call me for authorization.”

“All right. Ben immediately took the cards.

Tracy was at the door and overheard William’s instruction.

She was so shocked she almost dropped the dessert in her hand.

William wanted to give Vanessa Sanchez supplementary cards for three banks.

Back then, he had only applied for one supplementary card for Tracy.

William canceled her card on the day they broke up.

Ben almost bumped into Tracy when he walked out of the room. He apologized profusely before realizing it was Tracy. His expression changed drastically, and he immediately turned to William and said, “Mr. Hawk, it wasn’t me. I-

“Okay, go get the cards,” William said calmly.

He was the one who let Tracy in. Otherwise, she would never get passed the security guards.

“All right. Ben heaved a sigh of relief and left as fast as he could.

He wiped away his sweat simultaneously.

It was an awkward situation indeed!

“William,” Tracy looked at William, her eyes filled with affection, resentment, and grievance.

Those who did not know she was a jewelry designer would have mistaken her for an actress.

Tracy’s eyes became misty as soon as she met William’s.

She looked like a weeping damsel in distress.

Then, she smiled sweetly. “William, I made dessert for you. Try some.”

“No, thanks,” William was cold and businesslike. “Anything’s the matter?” he asked.

William let Tracy into his office to clarify matters with her in person.

Tracy looked aggrieved and said, “William, I was wrong. Can you forgive me?”

“What do you mean?” William asked indifferently.
