Chapter 37
“I apologize for leaving willfully and hurt you back then, William. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have gone abroad in the first place. Believe me; I love you! You’re important to me more than I am to myself. But I also love my dream, William. Didn’t you say you like how I pursue my dream?” Tracy Yost’s eyes turned red again.
William Hawk was fearful of Tracy feeling aggrieved in the past. He would do anything to appease her to make her happy. He could not believe she pulled the same trick again.
William looked at Tracy in amusement. “I thought you would apologize for doping my drink last night.”
Tracy raised her voice slightly. “Yes, I’m guilty and shameless, I did something awful, William. But I did it because I love you!”
She clutched her chest as if she was in extreme pain. “Do you know how much my heart ached when I saw you hugging another woman? William, don’t tell me you have no feelings for mel After all, we’ve been in love for six years!”
Tracy looked at William while tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.
She thought her performance would touch him like before.
In the past, William would pluck the moon from the sky for Tracy if he could to stop her from crying.
But now he looked at her indifferently. “My feelings for you ended the day you left.”
William finally declared he had no more feelings for her.
Tracy crushed his heart with her every step on the day she left the country.
He was also human; he would feel pain like everyone else.
Tracy glanced at William’s distant look and panicked. She quickly changed the topic and placed the dessert on the desk. with tears in her eyes. “Baby, I made some cheesecake for you. It’s your all–time favorite,” she said lovingly.
William’s lips curled. He sneered.
“Baby?” he thought, amused.
Tracy must have heard rumors about him winning several big projects and that he was in a good position in the company.
He said quietly, “Tracy Yost!”
Tracy’s hands trembled slightly, and she dropped the dessert on the desk.
She immediately wiped the desk with a tissue, looking flustered.
William ignored her. He knew exactly what she was thinking after being in a relationship with her for six years.
Tracy was a manipulative woman; she pretended to be weak and vulnerable all this while to rekindle William’s feelings for
her.
But she was the one who abandoned him in the first place and hurt him deeply.
William said calmly, “I let you come up today because I want to clarify some matters with you in person. No matter what kind of relationship we had in the past, it was over the moment you went abroad. I made it very clear when you left that we would break up and be strangers from then on.
Now that I’m married, I won’t flirt with any woman other than my wife. So please don’t make any more deliberate attempts to re–enter my life in the future.
“If something like what happened last night happens again, I’ll call the police!” “William, don’t you care about our past at all? Tracy looked at him in disbelief.
“Why would I care about the past with a stranger?” William looked at her coldly.
“You’ve only known her for a few days and are already obsessed with her! Is she a vixen?” Tracy was furious.
“Ms. Yost, please behave yourself and watch your words,” William said sternly.
Without the halo of love above her, Tracy looked ordinary.
“I beg you, William, don’t do this to me! I was wrong. What can I do to make you come back to me? Sob, sob.” Tracy started crying again.
William was irritated. “Didn’t I make myself clear just now?”
“But I’ve given all my youthful years to you!”
Chapter 37
“It’s my youth too! We know each other too well, Tracy Yost. Okay, I’m going back to work now!” William’s tone became more severe; he wanted to end the conversation immediately.
William knew Tracy did not fall in love with him in their six–year relationship; she fell in love with Hawk Group’s successor
instead.
When she realized his grandfather was close to his uncle, she considered going overseas to keep him hanging for a while.
William preserved Tracy’s last bit of dignity by not exposing the truth.
“Don’t treat me like this, William! I know you’re angry at me for going overseas and doping you last night. But I left the country to pursue my dream and to be worthy of you. I was anxious last night, and that’s why I behaved irrationally. It’s all because I love you!” she insisted.
Tracy suddenly saw a slender figure from the corner of her eye. Who else could it be but Vanessa Sanchez?
This bitch of a woman was truly amazing! She pulled the same trick as her and brought food for William.
“Oh, my!” Tracy exclaimed deliberately, jumping up as if she saw cockroaches.
William subconsciously looked at the floor.
Tracy immediately jumped into his arms.
William’s brow furrowed as he pushed Tracy away. However, her hands tightly wrapped around his neck.
Vanessa saw the two in an embrace when she walked in.
The receptionist at the front desk showed her to William’s office. Vanessa did not expect to walk into such an awkward scene. She was at a loss suddenly and did not know how to react.
Danny was furious when he saw his brother–in–law hugging another woman. He screamed angrily before grabbing a folder on the desk and hitting Tracy Yost.
“Ahh! Ahh!” he struck Tracy over and over again.
Tracy covered her head and fled like a rat. “Ouch, it hurts! Are you crazy? Help! William, help me!”
Vanessa stopped her brother anxiously. “Danny!” she shouted.
Knowing Danny could not hear her, Vanessa immediately ran to him and gestured with her hand. “Danny, stop. You can’t
do this!”
Tears streamed down Danny’s face. He made a babbling sound and gestured frantically with his hands. “But she hugged my brother–in–law. She’s a bitch!”
Danny wanted to hit Tracy again.
Vanessa immediately hugged her brother and pushed him out of the room. She looked at William awkwardly and said, “Sorry, I came at the wrong time.”
Then she pulled Danny away. She was disappointed but was not hurt. However, Danny’s reaction pained her even more.
William strode over and grabbed Vanessa’s wrist.
Danny was so furious he struck the folder on William’s wrist.
He was a 15–year–old young man, and his anger made him stronger. Danny nit William so hard the latter groaned in pain and let go.
“How are you?” Vanessa and Tracy asked William in unison.
Tracy was overjoyed, thinking that Vanessa’s mute brother was a godsend.
No matter how good–tempered William was, he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.
Marrying a hoi polloi like Vanessa Sanchez was a temporary reaction to his anger with Tracy.
Now that William knew Danny was an unruly youth, he must have regretted getting married!
Tracy could then quickly compensate Vanessa when the time came and annul the marriage.
If William insisted on making it official as a token of respect for Vanessa, he could also have a formal divorce procedure.
Vanessa retreated again, knowing Tracy was equally concerned about William. She said indifferently, “Danny wanted to see you. Now that we’re done visiting, we won’t disturb you from your work.”
William grabbed Vanessa’s hand.
I’m hurt,” he said.
Chapter 37
“Sorry: I’m so sorry that Danny was impulsive!” Vanessa explained anxiously, thinking that William was angry at her
brother.
“It hurts. Help me apply some medicine to reduce the blood clot. William looked at Vanessa gently; his tone was equally gentle.
Noticing Danny glaring at him angrily, William said to Vanessa, “Honey, explain to Danny that this is all a misunderstanding. Ms. Yost saw you guys coming and deliberately threw herself at me.”
Tracy cursed silently.
She felt humiliated, thinking William had overstepped his boundary by publicly rejecting her.
