Chapter 38

Chapter 38

Vanessa did not expect William to be so straightforward. His sincere gaze seemed to have healed her from the hurt Jackson had caused.

She gestured to her brother, “Danny, don’t be anxious. This is all a misunderstanding. Your brother–in–law is not that kind of person. We have to believe him.

Danny was still angry; he turned his head away and snorted.

He felt aggrieved for his sister and terrible inside.

Danny liked his brother–in–law very much.

On top of transferring his father to another hospital and saving his life, William also arranged for cochlear implants for him, brought him gifts, and held his sister’s hand at all times. William smiled like the sun in the sky, filling Danny with hope.

But now, he embraced another woman and hurt his sister.

If it was a misunderstanding, this woman deserved a beating even more.

William turned around and opened a cabinet. He took out the first aid box with one hand.

Vanessa immediately put the dessert box into Danny’s hands and ran to take out the first aid box.

“There’s medicine inside for regulating blood flow,” said William.

“I’ll do it!” Tracy wanted to snatch the first aid kit from Vanessa.

Vanessa felt awkward again. As she was about to let go, William said, “Ms. Yost, your presence is not required. If there’s nothing else, you can leave.”

Tracy was at a loss for words.

She could no longer hold back her anger.

After all, she was the daughter of a wealthy family and was born with a silver spoon in her mouth.

Why should she suffer such grievances?

She could tell that William was heartless and humiliated her in every way.

How could he be so cruel to her after six years of being together?

She decided to take out her cell phone to call the police. “Hello, I was beaten up at Hawk Group. It hurts badly; maybe there are internal injuries. Yes, the criminal is still here. Yes, I know who he is.”

She wanted to remind William that Vanessa’s family was low–class people, not to mention they were impulsive and rash. If he did not stop it in time, the Sanchez family would cause endless trouble for him in the future.

She was the unfortunate target today. But if William’s important clients became targets in the future, would he be able to succeed in the business world?

Moreover, if the media caught wind of such incidents, he would become the laughingstock of upper–class society.

When Vanessa heard Tracy calling the police, her expression changed drastically. She immediately wanted to snatch. Tracy’s cell phone away, but William grabbed her wrist and said, “Let her call the police. One would have to pay for one’s

mistakes.”

Vanessa became anxious. “No, Danny hit her because he saw what she did. Tracy can hit me back twice as much if she

wishes.”

Danny was an inexperienced young man who did not understand that the ordinary and the rich lived in different worlds. The hard truth of reality had not trampled him, and he did not understand the world was unfair.

To put it bluntly, the rich could hire the most influential and manipulative lawyers if there were a lawsuit; losing was not an option.

On the other hand, people like Vanessa would not even be able to afford an ordinary lawyer.

Tracy was overjoyed when she heard what William said.

She knew that William was an intelligent man. Her gentle, albeit dramatic reminder would make him realize Vanessa’s family would be a burden to him in the future.

The opportunity Tracy had been waiting for finally arrived. “William, let’s make up,” she said.

William sneered. “When the police arrive, I will take care of all the medical examinations and other costs for Danny for hurting you. At the same time, I’m afraid you’ll have to tell them about how you doped my drinks last night.

Vanessa realized what happened and looked at William thankfully.

William comforted her. “Don’t worry. What Danny did is nothing compared to Ms. Yost’s deeds.

Vanessa was even more grateful. She immediately unscrewed the cap of an ointment. Tll help you apply the medicine.

She was embarrassed to have judged William’s generosity against her narrow–mindedness.

Although Vanessa wanted to be open–minded and optimistic, she had tasted the harsh reality over the years. She did not dare to be as fearless as before.

Vanessa had experienced suppression from her superior at work, failure in several design projects, and the unrealized commission she was promised. She would argue vigorously in the beginning. However, her arguments resulted in her decreased salary, isolation, and obstacles at work.

Vanessa would try to reason with the doctor when her father was prescribed expensive medicines in the hospital. Ultimately, she realized her insistence on reasoning often resulted in the medical examinations taking longer than they should.

Reality had worn down Vanessa’s edges along the way. She learned to compromise, give in, and even swallow her pride. She could not afford to be willful and please herself because of the considerable burden on her shoulders.

She did not expect that someone like William would stand by her side and support her.

Vanessa liked the feeling; it was indescribably pleasing.

She applied the medicine to William tentatively.

Meanwhile, Tracy was agitated by William’s remarks. Her voice raised an octave. “William, will you let the police take met away later?”

“Yes,” William replied without hesitation.

“There’s no hope of us getting back together then?” Tracy looked at William heartbrokenly.

Danny became excited again when he saw Tracy’s expression. He mumbled agitatedly and wanted to rush over and hit her again.

Vanessa immediately stood up and hugged him to calm him down.

William looked at his bruised arm covered with ointment. He rubbed it in and pulled down his sleeve. Then he said calmly, “A broken mirror can never be reconstituted. I can afford a new mirror any time.”

“All right, I understand. Tracy nodded as tears streamed down her face. She removed the bracelet from her hand and placed it on the desk. “William, this is what you gave me. I’ll return it to you.”

Then she turned to Vanessa and said, “A third party will never have a good ending. You can only wear what I leave behind. Listen carefully! William will abandon you the same way he abandoned me today.”

Tracy had not known or interacted with Vanessa for long, but she knew people like her.

They were poor, inferior, conceited, and arrogant in general. Tracy expected Vanessa to leave William alone when she was labeled a third party.

“She’s not a third party and will not wear what you left behind. Our marriage will last a long time.” William took a fountain. pen to drag the bracelet across the desk. It fell to the floor with a thud and shattered into pieces.

Vanessa’s heart ached when she saw what had happened.

She was trained as a jewelry designer. She often visited jewelry shops with Jackson Foster when she was in university. The latter would introduce her to jewelry masters. Therefore, she had a solid foundation in jewelry appraisal.

She could tell the value of this bracelet at a glance. It was at least 600,000 dollars.

Vanessa knew she would never earn so much money in her entire life, not to mention owning something extravagant. Yet William broke it without a blink of an eye.

Tracy was equally stunned by William’s action.

She finally understood William’s determination to sever ties with her. The broken bracelet was a symbol of their ill–fated relationship.

“Very well then, Don’t blame me for leaving!” Tracy thought.

She strode out of Hawk Group decisively.

Chapter 38

She called Barron Hawk as soon as she got into her car. “Are you available? Shall we meet?”

After being with William for six years, Tracy knew a lot about him.

Although William had a good chance of inheriting Hawk Group at this point, it did not mean Barron Hawk was out of the

game.

“Of course,” Barron smiled and replied on the other end.
