Chapter 66

Damien ran his hands down her sides and rested them on her hips, grinding himself into her while assaulting her mouth. He had completely forgotten where they were for a few minutes, but it didn’t last as long as he needed it to.

Get a room! They heard someone shout.

Ana and he laughed. They reluctantly pulled apart and took a breath to calm themselves.

What’s next?he asked.

I would like to finish my sausage,Ana grinned. This time, she was fully aware of the double meaning she was putting forward.

Be my guest, baby,” he cooed. Better you than me.”

Ana shoved him away, making him laugh.

Games, then?

Oh, are you going to win me something?Ana teased.

I will win you anything you want, sweetheart.

Ana jumped up and down in excitement and Damien had to put his arms around her shoulders to lead her towards the games.

Damien couldn’t knock all the bottles off the table no matter how hard he threw the ball, but he did manage to win her a small stuffed crocodile at the dart game. The last game they tried was a ring toss. He caught the peg with the first ring and felt confident. But the next two missed ones brought him down to earth quickly. Damien brought another three rounds and lost those two. He was about to try one more time when Ana stopped him.

Let me try,she begged, trying to make a grab for the rings.

No.

Come on, Damien, I want to try.

Fine,” he agreed and handed her the rings. He watched with rapt fascination as every ring fell on a peg. The carnie guy handed her a stuffed panda.

Here you go, baby,he laughed. I won you a doll with snuggle at night.

All Damien could do was shake his head. Do you want some cotton candy?

We could bring some home for Alan, too. They bought the cotton candy and started heading to the exit.

Damien, let’s go see the fortune teller before we leave, she pleaded, pointing toward an old stall.

Damien grunted in protest. Ana, you know those are a complete scam. She will draw some cards, read your palm and tell you that you are going to do great in life.

Ana pressed herself against him and fluttered her lashes.

Where did you learn to make that face?he laughed..

Have you ever said noto Alan?she asked.

I haven’t yet. Why?

Kind sir, I will only say that I learned from the master himself

Damien sighed in defeat. Fine.

Ana dragged him to the stall just as a couple teenage girls came out, giggling. Damien looked around curiously. He was weirded out by the crazy paraphernalia. Sitting in the middle of the stall was a woman. She couldn’t be older than forty. She had a gold headress, looking every bit of the stereotypical fortune teller.

Sit down,” she ordered in a soft voice.

Ana approached the table and sat down immediately. Damien hesitated, feeling that something was amiss.

Do you want a reading?

Anastasia nodded. Yes.

Are you sure?

Ana furrowed her brow. Yes?

Be sure,” the fortune teller warned. You may not like what I have to say.

I’m sure.”

That will be twenty five dollars. Now, give me your hand.”

Damien sat down beside Ana and watched as the woman studied her. Damien pulled out the money and set it on the table. The fortune teller let go of

Ana’s hand and ran her hand over a set of cards. She pulled a few out.

Damien rolled his eyes.

*You recently reunited with your family. There is a lot of hurt involved. But so much love.

Ana hummed, agreeing quietly.

It is a good pairing. There is passion and intensity unlike anything I have seen before. The desire is rather overwhelming.

Ana couldn’t help the blush that spread over the cheeks.

But trouble is brewing. It is watching carefully.

What do you mean by that?Ana asked, surreptitiously glancing at Ana..

A woman. I don’t see a name, but she will cause strife. This woman is a thief and will try their hardest to break you apart. You need to be careful of her and those around her, my dear.”

Damien wanted to roll his eyes.

What kind of problems?

Damien could see Ana was getting invested in this sham reading. He stood up, his leg bumping against the table. Ana, come on. This is nonsense. Let’sgo home.

He didn’t want any more doubts in Ana’s head. They had been through enough already.

Be prepared. She will try to destroy you.

Damien grabbed Ana’s hands and pulled her up. Before walking away from the stall, he looked over her shoulder at the fortune teller. Thanks a lot,he said sarcastically.

Young man, I only say as I see,she replied sadly.

Young man? We’re really close in age!Damien thought cynically.

The drive home was quiet. Damien could see the wheels in Ana’s head turning as she remembered the fortune teller’s words.

Ana, stop thinking about it. She is a carnival worker.

She was right about some stuff.

You know how they deduce those things. They gain your trust by saying vague things about your past that can apply to everyone and then say something outlandish.”

Ana was silent for a moment. Is there something you are not telling me?

Was there? Not that I can remember,Damien said truthfully.

Maybe I am just being paranoid.

Damien sighed. Look, there have been other woman since we slept together, but nothing serious. Did I replace one of them poking holes in a condom because they liked my money? Yes.”

Did you use any of them?”

Damien shook his head. No. I found her poking holes. But I can’t think of anyone who could cause harm. Look, why are we even thinking about this? I think its nonsense.

Seeing that Ana was still silent, he urged her to speak. What are you thinking?

You really used condoms all the time?
