Captive Of The Alpha -
Chapter 67
Nebraska felt cold. She was chilled to the bone and moved to warm herself, but the sound of chains made her eyes snap open, shaking her. Now she was frozen not with cold, but with panic. The hard, rough metal encircled her wrists, squeezing them. Memories of when she had been in the same situation came flooding back.
-How’s the situation,” a very familiar voice stopped her from moving.
Carefully she turned her face to look under her hair to see where she was. Starting with the fact that she was lying on an uneven stone floor, chained again, the other thing she discovered was that a cave loomed above her and outside the colour white was all encompassing. For some reason unknown to her it was snowing.
Her heart stopped. Before she was attacked there wasn’t a drop of snow all around and now everything was covered in it. How many days had passed? Her hands began to shake. Rodrigo, Hades.
-All is well for the moment, there is movement, but everything is under control.
Nebraska seethed with rage as she saw Liam kneeling in front of her once husband. His head was lowered and he was staring at the floor as if he was afraid to look at his former alpha. Even his voice was hesitant.
-Well, get everything ready, we’ll go straight to the iron pack,” Rudoc stood up and at that moment a small girl squeezed his arm.
-Father, let’s hurry, I want to get there,” Catalina’s voice was a dagger in the wolf’s chest.
-Calm down, my daughter, and stay still.” He pushed her away from him and went outside, although she followed him.
-Are you awake,” Liam turned to her.
Nebraska glared at him menacingly from her position, barely sitting up.
-I’m doing everything I can to make sure Rudoc doesn’t do anything to you,” he knelt down in front of her, “I had to keep you unconscious for three days, otherwise he would have taken advantage of you.
With those words she seemed to think she could trust him, but it only took once for Nebraska to break all expectations of a person. He growled at her, his fangs protruding from his gums.
-My queen, I recommend you really calm down or you may end up like him,” he nodded at the body next to her.
Nebraska recognised him, that was one of the Council and if she wasn’t mistaken he was the alpha of the iron pack. That he had killed him and still had that body indicated that he wanted to reclaim his place in the pack.
But when had he killed him and how?
His condition appeared to be almost a week old and if I did the maths it coincided with the end of his wedding. So he must have been killed in that time. He swallowed dryly, Rudoc was still incarcerated at the time.
-It was you,” he narrowed his eyes.
-I had no choice, my queen. Rudoc was threatening me.
-Threatening?” she roared. “What could he have been doing inside the dungeon?
-He has no idea what he is capable of, my queen.
Nebraska reached up and grabbed his clothes, pulling him to her.
-Do I have to remind you who was his wife for so many years, I know what she is capable of?
-Well, for a wife you forgot pretty quickly,” Catalina’s voice echoed in the cave behind Liam.
Nebraska kept a serious look on her face even though she wanted to both beat the brat and weep at the betrayal of her own flesh and b***d. He saw her stand in front of her and look down on her with arrogance.
-The word whore is too short for you, mother, you abandon my father and open your legs for another alpha, you should be ashamed of yourself.
-Catalina, watch your words,” Liam asked only to receive a resounding slap in the face from her.
-I’m talking, stay out of this, you lapdog who is good for nothing but fulfilling my father’s wishes.
Liam didn’t answer but his faint scent told the omega that he was upset. Liam had been with her for many years and thought he knew him, but now after this, there was only a stranger.
-Now move, father wants us to just get out of here as soon as possible, we are very close to the Layan pack boundaries. If the snows subside they can track us down, there are several wolves behind us. The sooner we get to the iron pack, the better chance we have of taking power and me being queen,” the girl turned and left.
Nebraska heard Liam sigh before she stood up and ordered someone to do something. Out of the shadows came two men she recognised as two of the guards of the dead wolf beside her. She thought at first that they had betrayed him until she noticed their pupils, fully dilated to the point where no irises were visible. She was confused for a few seconds until she realised that they answered to Liam.
-Liam, you…control them?
He nodded his head to her surprise.
-But I can’t give you more details now, my queen,” he turned and smiled at her, “I promise that when the time is right, I will.
As he finished saying this the two wolves grabbed her and lifted her up. Liam decided to tie her hands behind her back with what felt like a rope that cut off the b***d circulation to her fingers. Nebraska understood that he thought she couldn’t convert, she hadn’t done it during the wedding, so she could try, but refrained from doing so for the moment.
-Liam, you were the ones who poisoned Hades and Rodrigo,” it wasn’t a question, it was a statement.
This made him pause, and he turned to her with an indecipherable face.
-Rudoc paused beside the wolf with a macabre grin, “Rodrigo’s was out of the question. Thank Liam, he was the one who worked everything out perfectly for them to be in that state.
The omega didn’t flinch, at least he didn’t show it, that wolf hated him with all his being.
-Why did you capture me?
-I have to admit that of all the she-wolves I’ve had s*x with, you’re the one that really makes me o****m. If I can have you, why wouldn’t I, you were my wife, why can’t I claim you,” Nebraska thought.
Nebraska was thoughtful.
-Is there an antidote,” she tried.
-Why would you want to know, those two must have died days ago,” she heard him chuckle and it hit her inwardly though she saw his hand shift and tightly grasp a small pouch hanging from his belt. If there was one thing she had learned in their time together, it was that when he lied he touched the place where he hid something.
She looked up quickly lest he realise that he had discovered it. She had to look for an opportunity to steal it and try to escape, if there was a hope she couldn’t let her husband and son die. At least she hoped they were still alive.
Catalina entered and pulled her father’s arm.
-Come on, what are we waiting for?
Rudoc growled and pulled her away.
-Catalina, behave yourself.
-Why should I, now because you have that whore you’re going to leave me aside,” he shouted at her, making a quarrel, he looked at Nebraska with bloodshot eyes, “What the hell do you see in her? She ain’t even pretty-
-Rudoc threatened her with a raised hand.
She clenched her fists and pouted and turned around and waited for them at the entrance. Liam approached Rudoc and whispered something in his ear. The former alpha’s face transformed into an angry grimace and he turned his eyes to where his daughter stood. A low growl came from his throat.
Nebraska couldn’t hear them but whatever it was, it wasn’t good. She was left with only the option of being dragged away by one of the guards while the other carried the body. Her mind fixed on one thing, getting the antidote.
