Nebraska enjoyed the short time she spent with her children, but she had to breathe heavily. They had spent so much time clinging to her that she needed Sara to take them away for even a moment so she could rest and think clearly about what had happened. Besides, every time they hugged her or hung on the back of her neck they hurt her and she just hid the wince, she didn’t want them to know what she was dealing with. As a result the wound throbbed, preventing her from raising her arms.

-Are you ready?” Hades entered her room a while later.

-Yes,” she said softly, eyes closed, breathing slowly, “Can you hold my hair back,” she looked over her shoulder at him, “I don’t think I can do it myself,” Hades frowned.

Hades frowned and came up behind her.

-Are you in that much pain,” he worried.

-Not how you imagine,” he tried to hide it, “I just got a little hurt around the puppies.

She heard him break away and go to the bedside table looking for the medicine that César had told him about.

-Let me take care of you for a moment and now let’s go to the meeting, the situation may be a little tense and it is preferable that you keep your mind focused,” he said as he helped her remove her blouse over her head.

He left some of the thick, reddish liquid on her fingers and ran them as gently as possible over the she-wolf’s back but that didn’t stop her from stifling a scream and having to hold on to the edge of the dresser. Hades repeated the same procedure and it hurt even him to see the small of her back quivering as she held back the spasms. He finished as quickly as he could and held her by the waist as he saw that her legs were a little unsteady. He turned her towards him and let her head rest on his neck.

-I’m sorry I can’t be the one to carry that pain Nebraska,” he lamented, kissing the crown of her head.

-You don’t have to be sorry, wolf, you have scars to deal with too. These are mine, I can handle them and I wear them with pride.

-Though you’re a quivering bundle now,” Hades mocked and received a pout from the she-wolf who rose when the pain subsided and kissed his cheek.

-Help me with my hair or we’ll have Layan yelling at us for a long time if we keep stalling.

-Layan,” Hades growled, “You two still owe me an explanation for what he may have done to you.

-Jealous, my alpha,” Nebraska sat up as her legs felt more stable.

-Very,” Hades helped her get dressed again and pulled her hair back into a ponytail, unable to stop himself from kissing the nape of her neck, where his mark rested, then licking it possessively. Consciously he enveloped her with his scent, in a place that would be full of alphas he would prove that she was his omega, “Are you feeling better,” he kissed her earlobe, he loved to touch her.

-Hmm,” she nodded and reached up burying her hand in the waves of his dark hair feeling the soft texture of the females.

-Then let’s go,” the wolf took her hand and led her down a corridor that brought back bad memories for her, especially when they stopped in front of that door.

Layan met them at the entrance and turned to one side to let them pass, then closed the door and walked towards the centre. Waiting for them there were the 7 main chairs that were occupied by the other alphas and one a little further back where Caesar was accompanying them, who nodded to Nebraska. She was the one who had invited him to be present, she would need his support as the she-wolf already had an idea of how she could take Liam down. After all only one omega was another omega’s worst enemy.

The she-wolf sat in the same chair in which she had been judged the first time, and which belonged to her former pack, at Hades’ request it had been decided to keep that place. At her side her husband accompanied her. Layan was in front of them. Now that she could see clearly she noticed the others present and that she had not fallen back on them during her wedding. She was more concerned about how to act in front of the penetrating gaze of the mother-in-law and the imposing figure of the father-in-law.

Of the four chairs, one was empty and must have belonged to the youngest alpha. The body that had been at his side during that tragic journey. One of the three wolves was an adult, even older than Layan to the point of having several grey hairs in his hair and wrinkles on his face. He must be at least 4000 years old, that he was not the leader of the Council only indicated that Layan’s power was even greater than his. Following this wolf what she saw made her slightly impressed. The other two alphas were twins just like Hades and Leoxi. Their hair was white, no, silver, the difference, one wore it shoulder length and the other had it falling like a long waterfall to his waist. His eyes were a very dark green and his skin looked tanned.

-Well, let’s start the emergency meeting, we can’t stay away from our packs for long,” Layan began to speak, “They’ve already been briefed on a large scale about what happened so I won’t go into details. We assume that Liam will attack in two days time, when the moon is full, all data indicates that this is the time when his strength will be at its fullest. Our main objective is to finish him off, not to destroy the members of the iron pack.

-That will be a problem,” the older wolf spoke up, “Are you saying that when they attack we don’t hurt him? How are we supposed to defend ourselves?

-We were informed that they are being controlled against their will,” one of the twins interjected, “If something could be done about that we could focus on how to take down a wolf that their bites won’t close and who is stronger than even you Layan.

-That’s what Caesar came for,” Nebraska interrupted firmly and got everyone’s attention, as even Hades himself didn’t know of their plans.

-What do you mean, Nebraska?” Layan raised his eyebrow at her, accusing her of not telling him any idea that had crossed her mind.

-I’ll only tell if they promise something,” his words were so dry that more than a few were indignant.

-I can’t believe that the same she-wolf we had condemned to death is now putting conditions on us,” the other twin protested.

A growl came from Hades and Layan and he backed away.

-I have no choice, what I’m about to say may endanger the few omegas we have left, I can’t afford to do that,” he said.

-What do you want?” Layan said before anyone could put her in a difficult situation.

-First that nothing I say here can get out and that all the omegas that they replace and are not linked to me will be under my protection,” was what she asked and the alphas just stared at her.

-For what purpose?” the adult alpha asked.

-They have always seen us as tools, both for breeding and for their own benefit. It is known that our powers are well hidden and it is taboo to show them, and we must not do so unless the situation warrants it. I may be condemning us after this and the guilt may even kill me. But I don’t want any more omega to suffer like me.

Hades smiled slightly proud of the wife he had chosen. Layan for his part narrowed his eyes. He could promise her but he didn’t know how the other alphas would react so he had to take drastic measures.

Litus, Leon, Asula,” he addressed them in that voice that even Nebraska who wasn’t the recipient trembled, “What is said here is buried and any omega has to be sent here, understood. Whoever fails to do so will be condemned to death,” his eyes flashed at the threat.

The alphas swallowed dryly and nodded. That had been an order sent straight to their subconscious, if they disobeyed it Layan would know.

-Now Nebraska, you may speak.

The omega nodded and took a deep breath, clenching her fingers.

-The ability to control the mind is not just Liam’s, all omegas possess that quality, though some are more developed than others. Liam’s ability was greatly amplified by devouring Rudoc’s tainted b***d, he is even capable of controlling all members, if I’m not mistaken.

-And what do you suggest?” the long-haired twin looked at her, rubbing his temple.

-When Hades was poisoned,” Caesar was the one who interrupted, “I saw the power of the queen and how the whole pack just surrendered to her feet, I still remember the feeling,” Layan raised his eyebrow knowingly.

Layan raised his eyebrow knowing where this was coming from.

-Don’t even imagine you’ll be on the battlefield,” he replied and Hades became alert, realising his wife’s intentions.

But as they had said before, Nebraska was a tough nut to crack.

-In this room the only omega who can stand up to her dominance over the other wolves is me,” the others fell silent, knowing he was right, “But I’ll need your help, specifically, everyone’s b***d.
