Saisen walked with his arm around the shoulders of one of his twins, Leoxi. The wolf looked more like his mother than like him. Rather, her two sons had their mother’s character. Neither had brought out her playful temperament. Maybe it was because their first five years they had been raised alone with her, until he found them by chance. If he had not spent that day, he would not have had his adored blessings with him.

His wife Celesia, the strongest wolf he had ever known, had trained him and taught him almost 90% of everything he knew. In times of war they had even ended up as enemies of different factions. But she was able to protect her cubs from harm. He loved and respected her for that, more than the she-wolf imagined.

The two of them met their mother and brother in conversation outside the door of their room. By the look of the alpha’s healing skin, especially his neck, they could tell he’d had too intense a time. the marks on his back were still very visible.

-Alpha, ma, the pack has been successfully evacuated,” Leoxi told them politely.

-Thank you, brother,” Hades was relieved to know that he could trust him completely.

-But we have a problem,” Saisen approached his wife, “There are four unruly cubs that won’t leave down there until their mother is with them and safe.

Hades sighed, he knew it couldn’t all be that easy. If they were Nebraska’s children, it was clear they would object to leaving without their mother. He would have to get tough with them. Then he would replace a way to win them back. Especially the two older ones, who were the most stubborn and difficult to deal with.

Nebraska inside the room listened to everything. His hearing was so acute that it was becoming annoying. The words of those four wolves were spoken as if he were next to her. He opened his eyes and sat up in bed. He felt like his body was full of life. Like never before.

Her b***d was rushing hard inside her and tiredness was a thing of the past. She looked around and had to pull her hair back and noticed something new. It had grown long. It reached below her h**s. So thick and shiny it was beautiful. Apparently the b***d of those alphas had not only increased his power but revitalized his entire body.

The mention of his sons made him look for the door. Rising from the bed, she pulled on a suitable set of clothes with a speed that surprised her. She felt light, powerful. She smiled, it was a good feeling. She turned to the door and opened it seeing the four wolves still talking but paying attention to her as soon as they noticed her presence.

Hades was quickly at her side raising his hand to her neck, impressed by how she looked.

-Nebraska, what happened in the minutes I left you alone?

She smiled slightly at him and stood on her tiptoes, placing a k**s on his cheek. Then she looked at the other three.

-Celesia, Saisen,” she bowed her head slightly, though she was queen and her status was above them, she still owed them respect both for their youth and for being her in-laws.

-You look beautiful,” Celesia bowed her head, “And powerful,” a somewhat sadistic smile left her lips, “When all this is settled I would like to fight you, I would like to test your skills.

-Saisen interrupted her, receiving a snarl from his wife and turned away from her accordingly. “Hades, don’t do it if you don’t want to become a widower, you know what your mother is like.

The comment might have brought a smile to their faces if the moment wasn’t so tense. Nebraska approached Leoxi.

-Take me to see my cubs,” was all she asked.

-Yes, queen,” he bowed sharply, still replaceing it hard to look her straight in the face after what had happened.

The omega followed him, leaving Hades with his parents. They were planning the positions they would take and from the last he could hear, Celessia would be in the front row next to her son while Saisen would be protecting her. Apparently this she-wolf, who did not look dangerous, was more terrible than one imagined.

They stopped in front of a door and Leoxi knocked.

-Noa’s voice rang out from inside. They had locked the door and wouldn’t let anyone through. They were behaving childishly but she understood them, they were afraid of losing her too.

-I’m sorry, queen, but this is what happens.

Nebraska stared at the door and only blinked slowly. She reached out to the latch and just squeezed her hand with her long fingernails. The wood around it cracked as the metal in her hand crumpled like a ball of paper. From inside the lock sounded abruptly and the door opened slowly. The she-wolf opened her hand and shook it, dropping part of the disfigured handle.

Leoxi swallowed dryly and dared not speak. Nebraska advanced and as soon as they saw her they ran to her and Alan and Noa hugged her tightly.

-Ma, you want to take us away from you,” the younger brother squeezed her arm.

Nicolas and Rodrigo didn’t copy them but they stayed close and noticed the change in her appearance which, although it wasn’t very marked, didn’t go unnoticed. The two younger ones were too upset to notice.

-The situation is critical, it is necessary for you to take shelter.

-But ma, you must come with us, it’s not safe for you either,” Alan demanded.

Nebraska smiled at him and rubbed his head.

-I have things to do here, I can’t go with you,” he said.

Hearing that, the two minors separated and their eyes filled with concern.

-If you stay here, the chances of you dying are high,” Rodrigo said seriously.

-I won’t die,” he said, his face full of confidence, “But I need you to be safe, otherwise I can’t concentrate.

-But,” Noa insisted.

-No buts,” Nebraska was firm, “You go with Leoxi, I have Hades and Siran to protect me,” even though she knew that right now she was stronger than all of them put together, “Got it?

Rodrigo, Alan and Noa, lowered their heads, after all, their mother was asking for that and they couldn’t refuse but Nicolas didn’t agree.

-Then let me stay with you,” he asked firmly.

-No.”

-Ma, I can protect you too.

-No.

-I can’t come down and leave you here alone,” he insisted without relenting.

But Nebraska would not allow one of her children to take such a risk. She walked up to Nicholas and hugged him, taking him by surprise.

-I’m sorry, you’ll understand later,” she whispered, and then the wolf felt his legs go so weak that he had to drop his body on his mother before he lost consciousness. Before everything went black, he could see his mother’s two irisless golden orbs, the same eyes he had used that time to subdue.

Nicholas cursed but was knocked completely unconscious. Leoxi was quickly at her queen’s side and held the young wolf next to Rodrigo, taking the extra weight off her.

-Leoxi, take care of them,” Nebraska turned to her children, her orbs once again a natural colour, not wanting to frighten them, “Do as she says,” she approached each of them and placed a k**s on their foreheads, “Wait for me,” she said.

The cubs nodded reluctantly and followed the Commander with their heads down, but at least it gave him peace of mind. Then he could focus on the battle to come. He left the room and stood in front of the window. The wind ruffled his long hair and a foul smell came from far, far away but he knew it would soon be intense. The time was near.

She put her hand to her flat belly and felt. For other she-wolves it may have been too soon, but her body already knew.

-Now only you are missing, don’t worry, I will protect you,” she said to the life forming inside her.
