For the first time in years, Nebraska felt like it was sleeping in a bubble. Everything around him was irrelevant. She felt nothing, thought of nothing, there was only tranquillity and it was a gratifying feeling. If she could stay like this any longer it would be wonderful but she realised it was taking too long and she was looking forward to seeing familiar faces. So with more effort than she thought she would, she slowly opened her eyes.

Quickly the recognisable ceiling of her room with Hades came into focus. Ah, she was back. How long had she been asleep? It must have been a long time as his body was completely numb and ached all over. Even though she had been sleeping she felt tired, very tired, to the point where her eyelids were heavy again and threatening to close and she couldn’t help it. A large, warm hand moved over her head, tangling in her hair and massaging her, and she was fast asleep again.

By the time she managed to wake up and sleep wasn’t the only thing that was uppermost in her body she heard faint voices around her and a familiar warmth all around her. He smiled softly. The arm around his waist was thin, while the body on the other side was a little larger.

-When is he going to wake up,” Noa’s voice sounded distressed.

-Caesar said to wait for her body to rest, she overexerted herself too much,” this time it was Nicolas who spoke, his voice a little further away but his weight tilted the mattress slightly to one side.

-But she’s been asleep for three days now,” Alan pressed himself closer to his mother’s arm, “And Hades only let us see her today, the stingy bastard.

-The alpha has been looking after her,” Rodrigo mentioned from the other side of the bed, even if his relationship with his family wasn’t entirely mended, he was doing his best to forget the traces of the past.

-Don’t protest anymore,” Nebraska articulated with difficulty after hearing the conversation between her children, seeing that they were already getting along was gratifying for her.

-MA,” exclaimed all four of them at once, creating a steady motion on the bed as they all sat down around her.

Nebraska was finally able to open her eyes. The pain that had been bothering her before as well as the tiredness had faded and she wanted to get out of bed as soon as possible. The faces of her children were soon in her line of vision and she could see their eyes mist over with tears.

-Don’t cry you fools, I’m fine,” she sat up slowly helped by Nicolas and pulled each of them in, hugging them, kissing them and wiping away their tears, even Rodrigo left in her arms without showing any resistance. Touching them, that they were alive and well was the best thing about winning against Liam.

Liam. His name echoed in her head and she couldn’t remember his face despite all the years by his side. The only image that remained was one she wanted to forget as soon as possible. She didn’t want even him to get a moment in her thoughts. He didn’t deserve it. He didn’t deserve anything.

Sara entered the room a quarter of an hour later and saw the four puppies talking to their mother sitting in the middle of the bed and for a moment she wanted to be there. Maybe it was time she started working on the issue with Siran. Not at the moment, though. Her husband had been injured, not badly, but he hadn’t rested enough, claiming he had to help the alpha. Hades had grown tired of scolding him but Siran didn’t care if he punished him for disobeying him, he wanted to support him.

The situation was a little unstable at the moment. The wolves of the Iron Pack were stranded on their lands and they were caring for them, especially the most physically and mentally injured. The twin alphas of the Council had gone to stabilise the situation in the confines of the pack where some wolves were to remain, bringing supplies and preparing the conditions for them to return. They still had to replace an alpha to lead them but that would have to wait until the Council could decide, in the meantime Layan was in charge. He was the only one strong enough to be able to lead such a large number of wolves.

Nebraska turned her attention away from her children when she heard her enter and smiled at him, lifting the corners of her mouth. She was in the mood to do so and found it was no bad thing. The she-wolf approached and bowed deeply.

-I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” the guilt from that day when Hades had been poisoned was still inside her and she had not yet had a chance to apologise.

-Why are you sorry? You’ve done nothing wrong,” Nebraska bowed her head, “You’ve taken good care of my children, I’m very grateful for that.

-But I,” Sara rose to her feet and her eyes filled with tears, collapsing after so many days of tension, “I didn’t try to understand you that day, I…” Nebraska could hardly understand what she was saying because she was saying that she was sorry.

Nebraska could barely understand what she was saying as her voice had become mushy.

-Ma, you made her cry,” Noa commented, shaking her arm.

-That’s bad, Ma,” Alan followed suit, and there was a drop of amusement in his words.

-You kids, shut up,” he replied in the same tone, “You’re taking Sara’s side instead of mine, you’ve been with her a long time, you can tell.

That made Sara herself let out a tearful smile.

-You’re the only one I trust to take care of my children, so I’m counting on you from here on out.

The she-wolf nodded her head vigorously, shaking her hair. Nicholas felt good to see that his mother had good chemistry with the members of Hades’ pack. The days his mother had been unconscious, even though they couldn’t see her, he had given them details about her condition the whole time. She understood that he didn’t want her to be seen in that state. He hid it but he didn’t just think about his mother all the time. They were also important to him.

Sara took the puppies to give them lunch after catching her up on the latest events and Nebraska found herself alone in the room again really bored. The last few days had been very stifling so sitting around doing nothing was worse than torture. Putting on some appropriate clothes she left the room. She wanted to see if she could do anything to support her wolf and lighten the beta’s load or it would be Sara who would collapse with worry.

The mansion was empty. The corridors were deserted, at least on the first floor. Once he reached the first floor he heard murmuring coming from the central hall, the largest and normally unused room. As he peeked in, he noticed that it was full. Many wolves from both packs were lying in rows on thin mattresses and were covered. Some were injured, especially the sleeping ones, and others were being treated or fed by the healthy wolves from Hades’ pack.

Nebraska just made to enter and all eyes were on her and she could feel the weight.

-Queen-

-Queen-

There were exclamations and some wolves smiled at her as they noticed her arrival.

-Is she all right?

-How are you feeling?

The questions began to flow and Nebraska could only answer in short sentences as she soon found herself surrounded. A hand grabbed her from behind and pulled her down against a broad, hard chest.

-Don’t suffocate her, she needs rest too,” Hades stood behind her and wrapped his arm around her waist.

The wolves nodded and reluctantly stepped back, wanting to talk some more with the she-wolf who had been able to destroy as large and aggressive a wolf as her last enemy had been. Nebraska let herself fall back, letting the heat and the male scent wash over her. Her legs trembled and her skin itched. A need for his touch coursed through her and she rubbed against the large body.

-Nebraska, come with me, you and I need to talk,” Hades didn’t sound like he normally did, he sounded more serious than usual.

Tangling his fingers in hers he led her out of the crowded room and into the other room for more privacy. Once he stopped, he released her and faced her. His eyes were heavy with fury, even though there were dark circles under them.

-Don’t ever do that again,” she held back from screaming, “Don’t ever control me again. Do you know how I felt when I couldn’t move, when I couldn’t help you, when I saw Liam almost kill you? I almost lost my mind.

Nebraska said nothing. She imagined the wolf would react like that. She just took a step forward and wrapped her arms around his waist, hugging him tightly, burying her face in his chest. Hades didn’t respond to her embrace at first, but after a few seconds he let out a sigh and squeezed her tightly, seeking her neck with his lips to leave a visible mark.

-I’m sorry, but if I didn’t, I was the one who was afraid of losing you,” saying her feelings for Hades out loud like that felt really good, “You are important to me Hades, very important, I don’t know how it would be if I didn’t have you by my side,” he left a k**s on her chest.

Hades’ hands roamed up and down her back, soaking his scent into her, and leaving a hand on her buttock which he squeezed tightly. Her body was tense but he was still happy that the omega reciprocated in every way.

-Promise me you’ll never do anything like that again,” he whispered against her ear which he licked, biting the lobe afterwards.

-Only if you promise me the same.

Hades’ chest vibrated.

-There’s no way I can win against you, my she-wolf,” he broke away to k**s his forehead and moved down to his lips, devouring them greedily. A quiet moment just for them.

Nebraska put her hands on his chest and pulled away slightly.

-Hades, I have to tell you something,” she was now sure she could tell him. She knew the chances of the puppy she carried in her womb being born because of her omega nature was great, but now, with the b***d of the alphas within her and from talking to her daughter in some way, she could tell him that she would have a child of her own for sure.

He took Hades’ hand and pulled her to his belly. Her daughter was barely a grain of sand but she could feel her, her enormous power and how she was growing every second. And she realised that Hades knew what she meant when he looked at her with wide eyes in an attempt to process the information.
