Nina sighed to herself, thinking that the bond between grandparents and grandchildren really was something special. The moment the kids were mentioned, Pharaoh agreed without hesitation. During their last visit to the hospital, she had seen Pharaoh slip a piece of paper under his pillow. It was likely a medical report.

While Nash and Pharaoh were engrossed in talking about Gemma, Nina slowed her steps and approached the back of Pharaoh's bed. She slipped her hand under the pillow but it was empty. Pharaoh must have already disposed of the report. He was indeed intent on keeping everyone in the dark. Determined to replace another way, she was suddenly interrupted by Gemma's wail. Pharaoh, who was holding her, looked panicked. "Am I holding her wrong?" He adjusted his grip several times, but no matter how he held her, Gemma only cried louder. Nash quickly figured it out. "She's probably hungry."

"Where's the formula? Hurry, we can't let my little granddaughter go hungry!" Pharaoh fretted, glancing around. Infants needed to be fed promptly, or they could quickly become distressed.

He quickly searched through the bag, then realized that last time, on an outing with Gemma, she had gotten hungry halfway, and he had used the formula they had packed. When they got home, he had forgotten to refill, so now they were out.

Driving home himself would take some time, so it made more sense to just take Gemma back. "We're out of formula. I'll take her home to feed her," Nash said, lifting Gemma into his arms, gently soothing her. "Hang tight, sweetheart. Daddy's taking you home for some milk right now."

"You should all go," Pharaoh encouraged. "You've been here long enough already. Don't spend all your time on me."

Soon, the nurses would come to check on him, bringing medication and an IV drip. With everyone around, he worried they might

ending his ability to keep hiso condition hidden.

"Alright, we'll head out, then," Nina agreed, taking Orion's hand while Nash carried Gemma, and together, they headed toward the exit.

The once lively room fell quiet as they left. Halfway down the hall, Nina stopped in her tracks. "Nash, you go ahead and take the kids home. I'd like to stay a bit longer."

Since she was already here, she was

Nash nodded. "Alright. Orion, you're coming home with Dad." He had become an expert at balancing both children, cradling Gemma with one arm while holding Orion's hand with the other.

He whispered to Gemma as he walked, "We'll be home soon, and Daddy will make sure you get fed right away. I promise this won't happen again."

Gemma's cries softened as if she

understood, and once he placed her

in her car seat, she was calm. Orion climbed on his own and buckled up. Nash double-checked their safety belts before setting off, driving as quickly as he could.

Back at the hospital, Nina began making her way back toward the room when she noticed a nurse entering. She held back, standing outside to listen in, hoping to catch any useful information.
