CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery -
Chapter 1443
Jamie's face went pale instantly.
Winnie, oblivious to her sister's turmoil, released Jamie's hand and moved toward the source of the sound, only to discover Ben's phone sitting on the vanity by the mirror.
Jamie felt her stomach twist in anxiety. How could she possibly explain this?
With a relieved smile, Winnie commented casually, "So careless, leaving his phone behind." She picked up the phone without a hint of suspicion. Jamie held her breath, quickly shifting the conversation. "You're the guest of honor today. Get back out there. I need to run to the restroom again."
Without waiting for a response, Jamie dashed into the restroom and locked the door in one fluid motion. But once inside, she felt Ben closing in behind her, pressing her back against the door with an ominous intensity.
Just as his hand began to roam in a way that was both cruel and deliberate, Winnie's voice sounded from outside the door, "Jamie, I really think you should go to the hospital. I'm going to get Jack to arrange someone to take you." "I'm fine," Jamie replied, struggling to keep her voice steady. "I'll hold out until the ceremony is over. I don't want to miss it."
Winnie was on her way to replace Ben. If she realized he was still in the lounge, or worse, if she caught them together, Jamie couldn't even begin to imagine how disastrous that would be.
But Winnie was resolute. "Jamie, if you're not feeling well, it'll be tough to get through the day. Stop being stubborn. I'm heading out."
The next moment, Jamie heard the sound of Winnie's footsteps fading into the distance, finally allowing her a shaky sigh of relief. Jamie slumped against the door, only to hear Ben's scoffing laugh from above. "Classic Jamie. Always putting on an act."
Hearing such venom from the man
who had once been so gentle cut deeply. She clenched her fists,
willing herself to stay calm. "I waset
the one who hurt you, Ben. But Winnie had nothing to do with it.
Take your revenge on me
if you
must. Just don't do it this way."
No matter how deep their feelings had been four years ago, it was over now. In the end, she had betrayed him for ten million. Winnie had no idea and she should never have been dragged into this.
"What right do you have to say any of this, Jamie?" Ben's mocking voice cut through the air. He reached out, grabbing her by the cheeks with a grip se firm she felt like she might shatter under it. His dark eyes were sharp, filled with cold cruelty and a ruthless determination.
For money, she worked tirelessly, taking on several jobs. She stayed out of Winnie's personal life, too.
Winnie had a boyfriend now, and et
Jamie barely had the time to meet him She could only manage half a day off for her sister's engagement party.
But she never expected to run into her ex-boyfriend at the engagement.
Even more shocking, her ex had now reappeared as her sister's fiancé.
In these past four years, Jamie had imagined countless ways they might meet again, but never had she thought it would be like this.
Jamie braved the pain, lifting her gaze to meet his. "I know I have no right, but Winnie is innocent. If you need revenge, take it out on me. Just don't hurt her."
Ben's mouth curled into a cold smirk. "You're in no position to ask anything of me. You agreed to be my lover, didn't you? So figure out how to move in with Winnie to my villa. If not, how about I let her in on our past and present?"
