CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery -
Chapter 1445
As Winnie's gaze drifted to the side, she noticed Ben approaching, dressed in a sleek black three-piece suit.
Behind her, Jamie saw him too, and memories came rushing back. "Jamie, the man you were once with was Jack Green, but now he's Ben Lucas. You have to let him go!" Jamie thought to herself.
He was both Ben Lucas and Jack Green. She could have been happy with Jack, but with Ben, there could be no connection. That was why she chose to walk away. She had buried Jack deep in her memory until today, when her sister's repeated mentions of his name brought those memories flooding back.
He was using his identity as Jack to get close to her sister, and now her sister was carrying his child. He wanted her to move into his house with her sister. It was all part of his revenge.
But why drag Winnie into this? She had done nothing wrong. If anyone was at fault, it was only for having her as a sister.
"I just went out to meet a guest. Are you all set on your end?" Ben asked casually, slipping beside Winnie.
Winnie smiled, reaching to loop her arm through his, both of them exuding a picture-perfect elegance in their formal wear. To anyone watching, they seemed the ideal couple.
But to Jamie, the sight brought tears to her eyes as the memories of what had just happened resurfaced. How could Ben go to such lengths?
"I'm all set. Just one thing. I have a few extra friends joining. Should we add another table or just more chairs?" Winnie asked.
it
"Whichever you think is best," he answered with a light smile. He seemed agreeable, but to Jamie, was clear that he didn't care at all His affection, his words-none of it was real. His very identity was
fabricated, as was this engagement.
Oblivious, Winnie's face lit up. "Jack, you really let me decide everything, don't you?"
"Of course," he replied, his voice easy. "After tonight, I'll give you my paycheck card, and you can manage the money while I take backseat." As he spoke, he glanced up at Jamie.
Her heart twisted painfully. When
they had been together, he had
promised her the same thing. Now that moment and those words belonged to her sister, who didn't
.n
even know his true identity. Even the paycheck card was likely a sham.
But Winnie, still basking in happiness, noticed none of this. All Jamie could do was watch as her sister left, feeling helpless.
Once they were alone, Ben took a step toward her and lifted her chin. "Jamie, aren't you the least bit curious why Winnie calls me Jack?"
With those words, he broke the last pretense between them.
Tears rolled down her cheeks.
Desperate, she pleaded, "Ben, I know
you hate me, and you can do whatever you want to me. But don't take it out on Winnie. She's done nothing wrong. You're an
exceptional lawyer and m
the law. Do you really think punishment should extend to the innocent?"
Even the law didn't allow for guilt by association. Her actions may have hurt him, but that didn't mean her sister should suffer.
