CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery -
Chapter 1460
"If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have to spend all this money, Mom."
"That's not true," Jamie replied, hugging her son tightly. "You're a gift from heaven, my most precious treasure. You've never been a burden to me." Despite all the hardships over the years, she had never once regretted having him. He brought so much joy and purpose to her life.
"But, Mom, what about the medical bills? I hate seeing you so tired," Charlie said, looking up at her, his face full of worry. He didn't fully understand the challenges, but he could see that making money was hard for her otherwise, why would she look so stressed? Jamie fell silent, thinking it over. Even if she took on as many side jobs as possible, it would still take her at least two days to scrape together the $100 she needed, and the hospital wouldn't give her that long. Besides, more bills were coming, and there was no way she could earn money fast enough to keep up with them.
Unless... she used that card.
There was over $10,000 in it, enough to cover Charlie's stay in the hospital for quite a while. But it was Ben's money. If she touched it, would he replace an excuse to make things even harder for her?
Jamie didn't know for sure, but she was determined. "Whatever he wants to do to me, I can deal with it later. Right now, I just need to pay these bills," she thought.
"It's okay, sweetheart," she said, standing up. "Mom has the money. I was late today because I went to the bank to get it. I'm going downstairs now to settle the bill."
Charlie's eyes widened with curiosity. "Mom, where did you get the money?"
"Aunt Winnie lent it to me. You don't need to worry about the bills. Just focus on working with the doctors, okay?" She reassured him, then went downstairs to the payment counter.
She transferred all the money from the card into the hospital's account.
Meanwhile, Ben was in the middle of a meeting when he suddenly received a notification about a transaction on his bank account. Opening it, he saw that the entire balance which was over $10,000, had been withdrawn and sent to a hospital. Winnie had mentioned lending Jamie that card, so did this mean Jamie was the one who was sick?
Just how serious was her condition to need so much in medical expenses?
A surge of panic hit him, and he stood abruptly, making everyone in the room turn to look at him.
"Meeting's canceled," he announced, striding out of the room in a hurry.
Now that he had finally found Jamie again, he wasn't about to let her slip away, not like this.
On the way to the hospital, he ran multiple red lights, ignoring the penalties. He only cared about

At the hospital, Jamie finished paying and took the receipt upstairs. In the elevator, she ran into her childhood neighbor, Ryan Smith.
He looked much slimmer than he had as a child and much more polished, too. His tailored suit screamed success. Jamie quickly mumbled a greeting and looked down, hoping to avoid a lengthy conversation.
But Ryan seemed eager to catch up. "It's been so many years. You look so different now."

Just then, the elevator doors opened, and Jamie hurried out.
