Claimed By My Three Alphas -
Chapter 73
AMERY
.
.
"So what's it gonna be? My house or your place?" Quincy asked during lunch the minute he approached our table. I was seated with Asher in the cafeteria who had insisted that I have lunch with him and not try to avoid him at all costs. Everything was going pretty well, that is until Quincy decided to disrupt my once peaceful afternoon.
"I've not decided yet Quincy and besides, can't you tell that I don't want to do this project with you?" I asked bluntly. Couldn't he read between the lines that I didn't even want him close? What exactly is his problem now?
"I don't care if you want to do it or not." He primped and rested both hands on our table to support his weight. "The teacher clearly chose us to do this together and that's what we're going to do. So it's either you make up your mind or I show up at your house unannounced and no Amery, you should know better than anyone that I don't bluff."
"Are you threatening her now?" Asher blew up in my defense but before he would react to make things messy, I held his hands from across the table and pleaded with my eyes so that he calms down otherwise, we would be replaceing ourselves in the principals office which might result in detention or worse.
I think that I constantly have to remind him that this place was different from the world they grew up in. They might be in charge over there and but here, we have rules and principles that one has to follow.
Quincy looked down at our joined hands and I consciously pulled it away when it hits me.
"I'm not threatening her...yet." He shifted his gaze to me. "How can I possibly threaten my own woman? I would never."
"Then leave." Asher ordered through gritted teeth and I swallowed.
"I'd leave when I want to and not because you're asking me to. This isn't your tuff brother and just because you've sneaked through the night to see her doesn't mean that you can tell me what to do."
I froze. How did Quincy replace out about that? Did Asher tell him perhaps? What exactly is going on here?
"Pick a place and give me the details Amery. I'll be waiting." Quincy winked at me and glared at his brother hard, before walking away.
"What was that?" I asked as soon as he was out of sight.
"What was what?" Asher questioned looking confused at my question.
"You told your brother that you were at my house last night?"
He shook his head. "I never told him anything."
"So how'd he know about that fact? It was supposed to be a secret between the two of us Asher. I don't want anyone replaceing out about it." My forehead creased in worry and my nose wrinkled in concern and somewhat fear.
"Quincy figured it out himself. I could swear that I never mentioned anything to him. He saw me walk into the mansion early this morning and he just kinda guessed it."
I sighed in defeat.
"Why are you so worked up about it? We didn't do anything wrong or did we? I mean we usually hang out together all the time don't we?"
"But that was before Asher and not in this realm. Here, people take these things seriously and if word goes out mistakenly that you were caught in my bedroom..." I paused and looked both ways to confirm that no one was near or eavesdropping on our conversation. "If word spread out about that then, we both would be in trouble. I had barely escaped on scandal, I'm not ready to go down that road again so please, I want things to be private between us."
He raised his hands In a solemn promise. "Alright then, I promise not to let anything slip. I'll be careful from now on, okay?"
I nodded once. "Thank you."
"So about the project, what have you decided? Will you be coming over to our house or does he have to cover over to yours?"
I shrugged. "I'd prefer it if he came over to mine but then I'm not sure my parents are going to approve any guy that they're not familiar with into our house. The only boy that was granted access to see me was Sean but then we broke up and the rest is history." "I'm with your parents on that one." He stuffed a sausage into his mouth.
"Why?"
"Well because I won't be at peace knowing that you're home alone with Quincy in your house. I don't trust him with you and he could be a pest whenever he wanted to."
I chuckled and picked on my food with my fork. "Just say you're jealous and I'd understand. You don't have to cut through corners. I can see right through you."
"I'm not jealous. I'm just saying." He retorted. "I'd prefer it if you came over to our house instead. At least that way, I can keep watch over you and make sure you're safe." "Keep watch over me like a hawk?" I grinned from ear to ear.
"I don't care what you have to say but this matter has been addressed so you're coming over to my house. I'd pick you up myself if you'd like." He offered.
I laughed so hard that my insides hurt. "You want to pick me up with that expensive car? I'm sorry but I'm too young to be on the news and envied by millions of girls prince Asher." I mocked "Just give me your address and I'll come over myself if it's okay." "Of course. Thank you for agreeing to this Amery." He smiled at me and reached out to pick a crumb of food that had stuck to the side of my mouth. I watched him and he winked at me. There was always something sexy about Asher that always seemed to get to me all the time.
Halfway through our lunch, I felt a familiar presence walk into the cafeteria. It was none other than Levi. He was with his gang of basketball players and they made their way to the lunch lady to get their food. I stared at his back and I couldn't tell if he hasn't noticed me yet or was just pretending to. I wonder why he was with those people after they had tried to beat me up.
He was right after all. The only reason why he didn't kill me himself that day was because he couldn't so it only made sense that he was still friends with them.
Our eyes locked briefly and I averted my gaze and focused on the food in front of me. I noticed Asher angrily staring at something or rather someone. My hunch was right when I traced his eyes to Levi who was already seated at the far end of the cafeteria. The look in their eyes were bloody as they were lost in their own world of hate and rage. I was still struggling to understand how these three ended up as brothers. They both had different personalities and was always angry at the other and it made me upset to see it even though I knew that I would never be able to do anything to stop it.
Everyone keeps on blaming it on me and Levi had even told me that it was my fault. He never misses a chance to rub it in when he wanted to.
"Asher?" I called out softly and he snapped back to reality. "Let's eat?" I asked and he nodded once before digging into his meal.
Without saying a word to each other, we decided to focus on our meal and in no time, we were done and back to class.
School was over in a blink of an eye and after informing Quincy that I would be coming over to his house for the project instead.
"What made you change your mind? You were very adamant on not coming at all" Quincy stated and I looked the other way. "Or let me guess, did Asher convince you to come over instead? You seem to listen to him more these days"
"Asher had nothing to do with my decision. It was all me. I had a change of heart and besides, I think that your place would be far more better than mine."
He nodded "I don't believe you though but still, good choice. I'll be waiting for you Amery, you know I will." It sounded like a declaration and it suddenly gave me chills. Quincy left and so did Levi. He didn't even spare me a single glance. He just walked past me as though I was invisible or something.
Asher approached me and we had a little chat before I decided to call it a day by taking the bus home, hoping that I would make it in time to get ready and leave for Asher's house before it gets late.
