AMERY

.

"Good morning ma'am." I greeted politely. Aborting my earlier mission of trying to open my locker. Whenever the principal came down herself to do, say or supervise anything, it only meant that there was trouble afoot. I had learned not to underestimate her especially after the incident with me and Natasha that finally ended up with me getting suspended.

"Amery Stark?" She called out and I nodded my head in affirmation. The look on her face told me that something was incredibly off. Not to mention that the president of the student body and his minions were quiet as well. This can't be good. "That's me."

"In my office. Now!" She ordered and walked away. Her heels tapping the floor lightly as she walked. I gave the president the _what could be wrong look_ but he ignored me and walked past me as well.

Trailing behind them, I made my way towards her office. I entered to replace her seated alongside the board members, the security personnel, the student club and some other unfamiliar faces that I didn't recognize.

"Have a seat." She pointed at the chair opposite her and I slowly took it and lowered myself on it. My whole body is tensed and not knowing what exactly could be wrong also added to the tension that crept up slowly inside me.

"We got a complaint Amery Stark that you have been breaking a whole lot of rules lately despite you knowing that its against the school's code of conduct."

I knitted my brows in confusion. Breaking rules? School's code of conduct? What exactly was she talking about. My mind was scattered but then I chose not to respond and let her finish.

"Weren't you recently suspended for fighting on school grounds with a fellow student weeks ago?" The threw a well known question and I nodded in affirmation. Virtually everyone knew that I was suspended. It trended on the school's official website for weeks that I thought I wouldn't be able to get out of it.

She breathed out. "When you came back to school, I was thrilled to see that you were okay especially after hearing about the incident of you going missing and winding up in the hospital and then I thought you've learnt your lesson but I guess that I was wrong. You didn't learn. In fact, you only came back stronger with the mindset of ruining this school's image and reputation" She accused leaving me astonished.

"I'm sorry ma'am but I don't follow. What is going on? What exactly are you talking about because I don't even understand a thing." I gave a subtle and nervous laugh.

"You'll replace out soon enough. Come on in Kevin" The principal called out to someone and just then, Kevin emerged. My eyes widened in surprise when I saw him. I recognized him from that day at the gym. The day I was given detention and asked to clean up the gym as punishment. He was one of Sean's friends who had tried to harass me and suffered a good beating from Levi as compensation for his actions.

Why was he here? What In heaven's name is going on?

"Kevin here had come clean to the president of the student body that you Amery Stark have been supplying drugs to the guys in the basketball team for days now."

My jaw dropped to the ground In utter shock. I couldn't believe my ears. "D-Drugs? Me? Supply drugs...t-to who? I have never done something like that."

She gestured to Kevin, urging him to speak up. "I'm sorry I couldn't tell you this before ma'am. I was scared of the outcome and I didn't want to put anyone in trouble considering the fact that she had just come back from a traumatic experience that almost took her life." He began and I am struggling to understand exactly what was happening right now.

"The thing is that when I called Amery with drugs in the boys locker room, I approached her and tried to get her to stop because it was messing with some of the guy's sports schedule but then she refused and kept on supplying them. I didn't know who to confide in so I went to the president and I gave him the news instead. He told me he'd settle it amicably without anyone getting hurt but then he brought it to you instead." He added, feigning remorse.

"You did the right thing Kevin and you don't have to feel sorry about coming clean. If you hadn't reported it could have gotten worse and you would have been dragged into this as well so don't beat yourself up about it." She consoled him before facing me. "So what do you have to say for yourself now Amery?"

"I don't know what's happening." I flared up in anger. He was clearly framing me and everyone thinks he's the saint here. "I don't even know what kind of drugs they're talking about. I have never sold drugs to anyone in this school so why would I start now?" "Quit lying Amery. I even gave the drugs that one of the guys bought from you to the school's president as evidence because I knew that you will try to deny it." He accused and the person in question placed a wrapped substance on the desk in front of me. "I swear. I have no idea where this came from." I said in my defense, pointing to the wrapped paper on the desk but the look on their faces told me that they didn't believe my words.

"Then you wouldn't mind if we searched your locker would you?" The principal asked and I nodded.

"I don't mind at all because I know that he's trying to frame me." I pointed to Kevin who looked at me like I had grown another pair of head. I know that this was a plot to get back at me for what Levi had done to them the other day but why attack me? Why not go after Levi if he was your enemy? It just doesn't make any sense.

"Lead the way." The security pointed at the door and I stood up immediately as I made my way towards my locker with them trailing behind me closely. The incident got the attention of many students who whispered and gossiped amongst themselves as I walked by.

I wished that the ground would just open up and swallow me at this point. Soon enough, the entire hallway was flooded with students who wanted to know what was happening and why I was being led away.

We arrived at my locker and after putting the combinations of my passcode, the security took over and started their search. They threw my things outside as they ransacked and rummaged through my locker.

"I told you that you won't replace any-" My words are cut short when one of them flags a wrapped substance at me. They went on to hand it over to the principal. Shocked gasps escaped from the lips of everyone present there including mine. How did it get there? They brought out another and another till they got to the last one. I heard clicks from around me. Took me a second to realise that everyone gathered around me was capturing the scene on camera and on video. "That'll be all ma'am" They announced when they were through.

"Care to explain how this got into your locker of you didn't put it there?" She asked, her face devoid of all emotions whatsoever.

"I didn't put it there." I yelled hysterically. "Those are not mine. I don't know where it came from and I never put it there."

"So are you trying to tell me that someone else has the combination and passcode of your locker?" She inquired. "Who would've put it there if it wasn't you? Are you still going to lie about this?"

"I'm not lying." I yelled in anger. "Those substance aren't mine. I never sold drugs to anyone and I didn't know how it ended up there. The boys in the basketball team aren't even my friends so how is this even possible?"

"And yet you dated one of them? wasn't that the cause of your suspension in the first place?" She asked and I remained silent. " thought that you would at least have the decency to admit to your mistake but no, you are hell bent on prolonging this further." She admonished in a calm but angered voice. "I have no words to say to Amery other than the fact that I am highly disappointed in you. Pack your things. You're being expelled from school whether you like it or not. I'll call your parents and inform them of what had happened. hopefully they wouldn't be too ashamed of you as I already am." She shook her head slowly before walking away.

"I didn't do it!" I had already started to cry as I called after her. "Why wouldn't you believe me? Those aren't mine!" The tears fell freely from my eyes like massive waves.

"Get OUT!" I yelled on the top of my voice at onlookers. "Get away from here!" I shouted, hitting my locker and kicking my books everywhere. How did this even happen? No one knew the combination of my locker except....I paused in my thoughts. Something compelled me to look at the crowd again and I am met with the face of Natasha, my best friend who had turned into my nemesis. The moment our eyes met, her lips stretched out into a smirk. It was only for a moment but I was certain that I had seen it.
