Claimed By My Three Alphas -
Chapter 9
As we walked into the royal courtyard, I felt eyes pricking through every part of my body. I struggled to stay calm without making my discomfort visible. The Alpha King sat on his throne, his eyes cold as ice as his muscular features were way too visible for an aged man like him.
His steel gaze locked with mine as a new sense of dread rushed through my spine. His expression held pure disgust, which made me really confused.
Yeah, I wasn't wearing royal dresses, but he doesn't know my origin, he has no right to hate me on my first meeting with him.
I tried to reassure myself with the thoughts, but the words of Levi flashed through my mind and a cold shiver ran through my veins, making me stay calm and silencing any thought of rebellion. I looked around for the other two and my eyes caught a family grey eyes, which held the same look like his father.
It was suffocating.
As soon as Asher and I stepped into the throne room, everywhere became silent, it was deafening and all I could hear was the continuous pounding of my chest.
"Seize her." The Alpha King told the guards, his voice cold and unyielding.
The guards walked towards me with determination to do as they were ordered.
What? Seize me? Confusion took over my mind.
I unconsciously took a few steps back as they walked close towards me. I didn't bargain for all this.
I thought coming here or being their mate would save me from all the bullying and suffering I have faced in the last two days, but no.
This was the worst.
"Father...Wha? Why!" Asher protested, his grip tightened against mine, not wanting to let go despite the look of disapproval his father gave him.
"Don't. Just step aside." The Alpha King shunned him off. "That girl doesn't deserve to be mated to my sons."
At his father's words, his brow furrowed deeply, like he was just as confused as I was.
But then, rather than go against his father's authority, he passed me a sorry glance, freeing his hands from mine and walked away.
No, no, no-
At that instant, the guards grabbed my hands, one on each side. They started pulling me towards the door, despite my struggles and muffled screams, they dragged me towards the door.
I was no match for them. From their looks and build, they looked like top warriors. I don't know how the Werewolf system worked but I knew for sure that no lame warrior would be allowed to hang around the king. They dragged me out of the throne room, the maids and other workers paused their work, feasting their eyes on my misfortune.
I shut my eyes as I was dragged roughly into a dark hallway different from the one Asher and I took while coming in.
I tried coming up with an escape, but it felt like my brain was shut down. No matter the escape plan I tried creating, it all trickled down to my inability to overtake them
We descended deeper into the bowels of the castle, the air grew colder and more oppressive.
The torches on the walls flickered automatically as we got deeper into the hallway. I shivered from both cold and fear that gnawed at my insides, stiffening my bones.
We finally reached the entrance of the dungeon. The guards pushed me inside, I stumbled on my steps, my feet barely touching the ground as I fell with a huge thud.
The air was moist and damp and I could hear the sound of dripping water echoing through the darkness.
I looked around the thick darkness, trying to get my bearings but there was nothing to see. The cell was small and cramped with nothing but a straw mat on the floor and a bucket in the corner.
I was able to see now as my eyes adjusted to the darkness and the wall candles flickered.
The guards locked the door, I felt a sense of overwhelming despair wash over me. This couldn't be happening, this couldn't be my life now.
But as the reality of my situation sank in every minute, I had to come to accept the bitter truth. I was trapped. Trapped in this dark, cold cell, with no hope of escape.
Tears welled up in my eyes.
This was supposed to be my escape, or so I thought. This was supposed to be a start to a new life and people who loved and cherished me.
But now all of that was gone, taken away by a man and his sons who I didn't even know.
As I lay there in my thoughts, I heard the sound of footsteps echoing through the dungeon.
As I strained my ears and tried to stay calm, I heard male voices arguing and quarrelling. My eyes widened in hope as I recognized the two voices.
It was Asher and Quincy arguing with a voice that sounded like their father's. I couldn't make out the content of their argument but I knew that they were trying to help me. Suddenly, Asher barged into the dungeon, his face filled with anger, the irons made clattering sounds as they banged against the wall.
“Come on, Amery. We're getting you out of here." He said, pulling me to my feet.
The guards tried to intervene, but Asher was too fast and predicted their moves. He moved like lightning, his claws flashing in the dim light of the dungeon.
He floored the guards and turned to me with a look of concern.
"Amery, are you okay?" He asked, his voice laced with worry as his eyes peered down my scared ones.
I nodded, still too stunned to speak.
"We'll talk about this later. For now, we have to get you out of here." His voice coated with urgency.
"Asher. What's taking too long? We don't have time." I heard Quincy ask from outside.
"She is coming with us." He replied. He sounded more like he was addressing other beings apart from the three of us in the room.
Quincy nodded as we got out.
We hastened our steps, trying to get out of the dungeon before they came in on us, and by them, you know who I am talking about.
"And where do you think you are going? You can't take her." The Alpha King stood right in front of us, posed in a royal manner with Levi and some guards by his side. We paused on our tracks as we stared at the obstruction right in front of us.
