Cold Hearted Mate
Chapter 3

A part of Connor still doesn't believe that she is his mate, but a large part of him wants her to be. But he just can't get over the fact that he can't have a mate.

"I know what I'm doing to her is wrong, but I just can't help it. After everything I've been through thinking that my mate was dead, where was she all this time? How is it that she's still alive? What is it that I felt five years ago?" "What if this is another trick? What if I am being played?"

All these questions were running in his head but the loudest one was if she hates me for being mean to her. He shouldn't have placed her in that cell, he just thought that if he put her there, she would confess that she's not his mate but all he got was the silent treatment from his wolf.

It's been exactly seven hours since he last talked to Clell - his wolf and that was when he last visited his mate Louve.

He smiled as he remembered how beautiful she was, with those big brown eyes, plum lips screaming to be kissed by him and that body... Oh, her body, it just begged to be touched but he couldn't.

"I couldn't touch her smooth skin, I couldn't run my hands through her beautiful brown hair, I just don't want to be broken again."

He is scared that if he gets attached to her, he will replace out she isn't his mate and then he will end up hating himself for loving somebody other than his mate or worse he will lose his sanity again.

"I can't put my pack through that again, I just can't and I won't."

He stands in the window and sighs heavily sighed.

"Clell, go check on mate."

He was about to ask Clell what's wrong when he felt it, he felt the mate bond breaking; he felt like a part of his soul was slowly leaving him. He felt the pain that he felt three years ago.

He used all of the strength left in his body to run to the cell and what he saw broke his heart. His mate was spread out in a weird position as her back was on the floor and her legs were on the silver wall and her hands were closed over her chest. He could see the burns on her body as she just stayed there not moving.

"Mate! Go get mate." Clell didn't have to tell him twice as he unlocked the cell and took her in his arms, he tried listening to her heart beat, but all he heard was the sound of his heart beating at an abnormal rate.

He picked her up and ran to the pack hospital. When he got there, he gave her to the doctors. He couldn't stand still as he waited in the waiting room as doctors were attending to his mate.

After three hours the doctors allowed him to see his mate and what he saw there broke his heart. His mate was lying on the hospital bed looking very pale with needles and machines connected to her; she had bandages wrapped around her body. "We hurt mate." Clell yelped in his head.

"I know, I understand how you feel buddy." He said to his wolf as he looked down at his mate knowing that he indeed hurt her.

All he has done is hurt her ever since he met her. She doesn't deserve any of this. The strange thing is that the doctors don't know what is wrong with her, the only things they see is her being burned up and her not healing.

Doctors say that her wolf is gone, even Clell can't sense her wolf.

"I couldn't live with myself knowing that I killed my mate's wolf."

The thing that has the doctors stressed is the abnormality of her heart beat, doctors are confused as to how she is still alive since her heart beats only once every four seconds.

After standing there and looking at the damage he has done, he felt too overwhelmed with the emotions he felt about how he had broken the beautiful girl the goddess gave to him. He might have even killed her. "Is mate dying?" That was the question asked by Clell that had him in tears.

What if he ends up being the reason that his mate end's up losing her wolf. Only God knows when she will wake up or if she will ever wake up.

~

It's been three weeks now and she still hasn't woken up. Her burns have healed, the doctors say it will take her shoulder another week to heal because she dislocated it when Connor harshly tossed her to the silver wall. Connor just hates himself for treating his mate like that. He is probably the worst mate in history, he doesn't deserve her. He really doesn't deserve such a pure, beautiful and innocent mate.

"Mate are gonna be alright." Clell said.

"I really hope that too buddy." Connor said to his wolf.

Right now, Connor is sitting on a chair in the ward, with his hands on his head as he continuously hates and blames himself for putting her in such a bad condition.

He was busy thinking about how much he don't deserve his mate when the machines started making loud sound and his mate began to hyperventilate, she was violently shaking as her eyes opened and rolled up to the top of her head, only the white part of her eyes was visible as the doctors and nurses came and tried to help stabilise her.

"Louve! Louve!" He calls her.

Connor rushed to her side only to be pushed away by the doctors, he wanted to stay by her side but he didn't because he knew the doctors needed space.

"Doc, what happened to her?" He asked.

"Please, get out first; we will do our best to cure her." The Doctor said to him.

He shook his head and said, "No, no, I want to be with her!"

"Please get out!"

The pack warriors he assigned to hold him back arrived and pulled him out of the room. The last thing he saw was his mate shaking.

He was now once again digging up a hole in the waiting room floor as he was impatiently walking up and down the room trying to calm and his wolf down after the pack warriors once again restrained me after the doctors forced me out of the hospital room. He was pacing around the room when his legs suddenly gave out and he fell down on the floor.

"Alpha, are you okay?"

A pack warrior asked him as they all gathered around him to see if he was okay. He was about to tell them that he was okay, when he suddenly felt a large magnitude of pain on his whole body, he felt whole again, he just felt at peace with himself.

The next second, the pain stopped. He rushed to Louve's room, pushing the pack warriors out of his way. He opened the door, curious as to what just happened to him. When he opened the door, his eyes went straight to her silhouette only to be met with her beautiful brown eyes looking back at him. He couldn't be happier, nothing pleased him more than knowing that she was okay. His happiness was short-lived as he looked into her eyes and saw pain, sorrow, heartbreak and regret.

After all he has don't to her, he really wishes she doesn't hate him because there is now no doubt in his mind that she is truly his mate.
