Comeback Of The Adored Heiress -
Chapter 666
Rowan wiped the sweat from his brow, feeling the weight of the situation pressing down on him.
Was it his own guilty conscience making him feel this way?
But in the current situation, he couldn’t afford to let guilt get the better of him.
“I think the top priority is to save the Johns Group,” Rowan said, his face showing his distress as he looked at Glenn.
“I know it’s tough on you, Glenn, but if the Johns Group goes under, our father will never forgive us.
As long as the company is still around, we’ll have a chance to reclaim it eventually.”
“Really? So you think we should just throw in the towel?” Glenn asked calmly, his eyes locked on Rowan.
Despite the lack of visible emotion in Glenn’s eyes, Rowan felt a sudden chill, as if every part of him had been laid bare.
He broke out in a cold sweat, overwhelmed by the sensation of being fully exposed.
He couldn’t stop berating himself for being so useless.
He couldn’t even stand up to Glenn’s stare.
“There’s no alternative at the moment.
If there was another option, no one would willingly give up the company.
This mess is partly because of you.
I understand you’re heartbroken over Madisyn’s passing, but now we’re also facing the loss of the company.” Rowan shifted the topic deliberately.
Glenn continued to fix his gaze on him.
Rowan soon bowed his head.
“I understand that Madisyn was your daughter, and it’s only natural for you to be upset.
But our opponents have seized this opportunity to hit us hard.
Glenn, we’re in a difficult position with no evidence to back up our defense.
As hard as it might be, we need to choose one of the options Jeffry put on the table.”
“Then why don’t you try replaceing the person who broke into my office?”
Glenn’s look was piercing.
Rowan couldn’t hold Glenn’s gaze.
“We’ve been looking into this for a long time with no leads.”
“Rowan!” Glenn’s tone turned serious.
“Our father always knew you weren’t driven by fame or money, and he was relieved we didn’t become like other rich families where brothers turn against each other.”
“I-I know.
Why are you mentioning this now?”
“Because I know the truth, Rowan,” Glenn said firmly.
“You might seem indifferent to fame and money, but you have pride, don’t you? That’s why you wanted to be part of the company, to prove your worth.”
Rowan shivered slightly.
Each word from Glenn hit him deeply.
Glenn, who rarely talked with him, seemed to understand him well.
“What are you getting at?” Rowan’s throat felt parched.
“This is your moment to show what you’re made of,” Glenn said, his gaze steady.
“If you manage this well, I’ll restore your dividend.
You have one day, Rowan.
Think it through.”
Rowan stayed silent, his mind blank.
He barely remembered how he made it home.
“Rowan, Rowan! Darling!” Sarai’s voice cut through his haze.
He snapped back to reality, his eyes still clouded with confusion as he finally turned his gaze toward her.
Sarai furrowed her brow as she looked at Rowan.
“Darling, what was on your mind? You seemed lost in thought.”
“Oh, nothing.
What’s the matter?” Rowan replied.
Sarai scrutinized his pale face with a hint of suspicion.
“I just wanted to ask about our deal with the Chapman family.
Did Glenn agree to transfer the company?”
